The World's Richest Man: Start with the Daily Intelligence System

6: Chapter 6 The Rich Man’s BicycleAfter settling everything, Zhang Wei’s stomach finally protested in an unbearable manner. He hadn’t stopped since he woke up today, and the little food he had eaten during the day had long since been digested.

Too lazy to head back downstairs, Zhang Wei opened a food delivery app and ordered over three hundred yuan worth of Zibo barbecue. Then, he dialed Liu Haorui’s number.

”Old Liu, where are you?”

”Don’t even get me started. My boss just forced me to stay and revise some plans. I only just got off work.” Liu Haorui’s voice sounded weak and listless, as if he had just been drained dry by a resentful woman.

”That’s perfect. Come straight to Jiangnan Garden, Building 30, Room 901. I ordered some barbecue; grab some beer on your way up. Hurry up, or you’ll be stuck with the vegetable skewers.”

The voice on the other end remained listless: ”The neighborhood in your hometown is also called Jiangnan Garden? Didn’t you say it was an old, run-down place? The name sounds quite high-end. I’ll have to pass on the barbecue, though. Keep it for yourself.”

”Wait!” Liu Haorui suddenly said, sounding puzzled. ”It’s your first day back home, and you’re actually ordering delivery. Aren’t you afraid your mom will kill you?”

Zhang Wei smiled and said, ”Just get over here and see for yourself. It’s only half an hour from your company by subway.”

????? Liu Haorui was completely bewildered.

Not long after, the doorbell rang. Zhang Wei got up to open the door.

He saw Liu Haorui looking at him as if he’d seen a ghost. Liu Haorui then quickly darted into the house and checked every single room, not even skipping the bathroom.

”What are you doing?” Zhang Wei was also confused.

”Where’s the sugar mommy? Where’s the sugar mommy who’s sponsoring you?” Liu Haorui said while searching. ”Is she married? Did she leave after her ’recharge’ session?”

”Get lost!”

The autumn evening breeze carried a slight chill, feeling very comfortable on the skin. At that moment, Zhang Wei and Liu Haorui each pulled up a chair and sat on the balcony eating skewers.

Zhang Wei gave a simple explanation of how he had found some gold bars, made money to pay off his debts, and rented the apartment. Of course, he skipped the part about the intelligence system, merely saying he had stumbled upon it by luck.

After listening, Liu Haorui said skeptically, ”How can this sound so bizarre? I’d still rather believe you were taken in by a sugar mommy. That sounds more plausible.”

Zhang Wei laughed. ”Not a chance of being kept.”

With the system, it was more likely he’d become a ’sugar daddy’ himself in the future.

”Though, if it’s an older sister with god-tier looks, lingering charm, and a variety of ’positions,’ I might give her a chance to pursue me.”

”In your dreams.” After a moment of silence, Liu Haorui asked tentatively, ”Since you’re staying, have you considered making up with Lin Wanting? You two were actually a pretty good match.”

”There’s no going back.” Zhang Wei picked up a beer can from the table, clinked it against Liu Haorui’s, and downed it before saying, ”I’ve realized something through this breakup. The foundation of a relationship is material wealth. How many people can truly leave everything behind for love?

So the top priority right now is to make serious money. Once the economic conditions are there, there will be no shortage of girls.”

Liu Haorui patted his friend’s shoulder. ”Old Zhang, you’re right. We need to make serious money and live like someone who matters!”

”By the way,” Zhang Wei thought of something. ”Enough about me. Have you made any progress with Zhao Dan lately?”

Zhao Dan and Liu Haorui were high school classmates. She had been the goddess in Liu Haorui’s heart since high school. After graduation, they were both admitted to universities in the City Name. This made Liu Haorui feel even more that it was a fate ordained by heaven.

The reality, however, was that while he treated her like his first love, she treated him like a backup for her backups. Their relationship had always been one where Liu Haorui was a ’simp’ who could never win her over.

During university, Zhang Wei had urged him to give up more than once. Unfortunately, being a simp is a disease—a chronic one at that.

Hearing Zhao Dan’s name, Liu Haorui’s eyes instantly lit up. ”Old Zhang, I feel like there’s great hope this time. She just broke up with her boyfriend two days ago. I immediately bought a bag for her. You should have seen how shy she looked when she received the gift.”

After saying this, Liu Haorui wore a happy expression as if he were about to become a winner in life.

”How much did you spend on the bag?”

”A little over ten thousand, but it’s definitely worth it to make Zhao Dan happy.”

”And then?”

”What ’and then’?” Liu Haorui was a bit confused.

Zhang Wei had an ’it’s only natural’ expression. ”I mean, after you gave her the bag, what did you guys do?”

”After I gave it to her, she said she was a bit tired from work today and went back.”

That’s not giving a gift; that’s being a delivery man. Zhang Wei shrugged. ”As long as you’re happy.”

Liu Haorui’s monthly salary was only a bit over eight thousand. He was on track to live on dirt. No wonder he was eating skewers like a starving ghost just now; he’d probably been eating nothing but dry noodles for the past two days.

The two of them chatted while eating, and before they knew it, it was late at night. Liu Haorui’s alcohol tolerance was average, and he was now fast asleep on the living room sofa.

Zhang Wei covered him with a blanket and left him alone. He took a shower and went to the master bedroom, lying on the bed while scrolling through his phone, waiting for the daily intelligence system to update at midnight.

Midnight.

Ding: Daily Intelligence has been updated. Please check it yourself, Host.

Hearing the sound in his mind, Zhang Wei’s spirits lifted. ”Open!”

[Daily Intelligence 01] Dai Zhicheng, a factory leader living in the Workers New Village, returned home at 8:00 PM yesterday after a meeting out of town. He was frantic to find that his old cabinet, where he hid gold bars, had been thrown away by his wife. However, the neighborhood’s trash room had already sent the cabinet to the Puxi Landfill, where it was cut and crushed into a pile of wood. After making a scene at the Puxi Landfill to no avail, he finally gave up and left in despair.

He didn’t expect those two gold bars to have a sequel. This factory leader named Dai Zhicheng probably wasn’t a good person either; it was likely a ’tribute’ from someone below. Otherwise, he would have chosen to report it to the police immediately after losing such valuable items.

Zhang Wei stroked his chin. From the intelligence, the matter seemed to be concluded. No one would pursue it further.

Thinking of this, Zhang Wei couldn’t help but feel a bit of lingering fear. His actions had been somewhat reckless.

Although there were no cameras in the trash room of the Workers New Village, and thus no evidence of him taking the gold bars, street cameras were everywhere in the City Name. He must have been filmed entering and leaving the Workers New Village. If it weren’t for Dai Zhicheng’s own guilty conscience, the consequences would have been unimaginable if he had chosen to call the police.

”It looks like I should plan more carefully next time.”

A certain second-generation rich kid accidentally fell and injured his leg while night riding with a girl an hour ago. Feeling he had lost face, he acted on impulse and threw both of their Trek road bikes into the roadside greenery before leaving in a car. Those two bicycles are currently located in the greenery 200 meters south of the intersection of the Outer Ring Elevated Road and Guanshun North Road.

Zhang Wei was shocked. As expected of a rich kid—once he got heated, he just abandoned the bikes. Zhang Wei could sense an air of arrogance even through the blue light screen.

He opened his browser to check. Road bikes from the Trek brand generally cost over twenty thousand yuan, and the most expensive ones could even cost over a hundred thousand.

Zhang Wei was a bit dazed. Is this really the kind of bicycle I know? Are the wheels made of gold or is the frame made of gold? Are these bicycles grown in a greenhouse?

Wouldn’t it be better to buy a car for over a hundred thousand yuan?

Zhang Wei remembered buying a bicycle for only over two hundred yuan when he was a kid. He could only say that the lives of the wealthy were incomprehensible. However, these two bicycles would soon belong to him. He hoped they weren’t smashed too badly.

[Daily Intelligence 03]

In a second-hand electronics shop, No. A-37 on the third floor of Cyber Digital City in Yujiahui, there is a second-hand USB flash drive with a linabell cartoon sticker on the shelf to the left of the entrance. Inside, there is one forgotten bitcoin.

Zhang Wei didn’t have much of a concept of bitcoin.

He recalled seeing a news story about someone buying a pizza with ten thousand bitcoins, setting a record for the most expensive pizza in world history that hasn’t been surpassed to this day.

Another friend from his university dormitory, Zhu Pengfei, had once mined bitcoin. However, that was many years after bitcoin was first issued.

Zhu Pengfei had mined for a year and got less than 0.1 bitcoin, and he even broke his computer in the process. It was truly not worth the effort.

Zhang Wei checked the current price of bitcoin. Basically, one coin was worth about 450,000 RMB.

”If I can get it smoothly, it’ll be another huge windfall.” Suppressing his inner excitement, Zhang Wei began to organize the intelligence he had gained today.

The first piece of intelligence was good news, but it also reminded Zhang Wei to be more cautious in his next move.

The bitcoin in the third piece of intelligence was very valuable. It was now the early hours of the morning, and this kind of computer mall wouldn’t open until ten in the morning. He didn’t have the skills to break in, so he could put that aside for now.

The priority was to get the two bicycles back. After all, the rich kid had thrown them into the greenery. It was the middle of the night with few pedestrians, but they could be discovered by someone at any time.

However, how to transport two bicycles back was a problem.

Thinking of this, Zhang Wei got off the bed and went back to the living room. Liu Haorui was still sprawled on the sofa, fast asleep. Zhang Wei slapped his cheeks hard.

”Old Liu! Old Liu! Wake up!”

There was no reaction.

”Zhao Dan is here to see you!”

Liu Haorui suddenly jumped up from the sofa and looked around. ”Zhao Dan? Where’s Zhao Dan?”

Zhang Wei looked at him, somewhat speechless. Could you believe that Old Liu’s goddess could actually sober him up?

”I received some news. I need you to give me a hand.”

”What news?” Liu Haorui’s brain was still a bit dazed.

”News about making money. The kind that makes a lot.”
