Teaming Up with My Enemy to Rule the Apocalypse

Dominic Crawford nodded, then turned and walked away quickly.

Watching Dominic Crawford’s rapidly departing figure, Sierra Sullivan sighed to herself before slowly closing the door.

「Noon.」

Jayce and Candice Tate returned from work together.

The two of them now went to work and came home together every day.

When Sierra had free time in the mornings, she would cultivate her Superpower and then cook something delicious, waiting for the two of them to get off work so they could all eat together.

Today was no exception.

After saying goodbye to Dominic Crawford, Sierra returned to her bedroom, locked the door from the inside, and entered her dimensional space.

Before, when she was always out and about with people around, there had been virtually no opportunity to enter her space.

Now that things had settled down, she had plenty of time alone and could enter her space whenever she pleased.

Sierra had already harvested the mature crops in her space long ago and had since planted other things.

Even though she had Jayce and Candice, meaning they would never be short on food even if she planted nothing, it would be an enormous waste to let such a large space with such fertile soil and rapid growth rates lie fallow.

Of course, Sierra was unwilling to be so wasteful.

So, after discussing it with Jayce, she simply planted fruit trees on all the empty land.

Unlike other crops,

fruit trees were perennials.

They could keep growing year after year.

As long as she left enough space between each tree, she didn’t have to worry about anything else.

At this moment, the various fruit trees were covered in blossoms. She estimated it wouldn’t be long before they bore fruit.

Looking at all the green leaves and flowers, feeling their vibrant life force, always improved Sierra’s mood.

’Compared to the yellow sand that fills the sky outside, this is the kind of environment people truly love!’

After admiring the view for a while, Sierra started cooking.

She had plenty of ingredients, water, and electricity, and could also use a natural gas or wood-fired stove.

Sierra got straight to it, using ten large pots.

The electric ones were all used for steaming rice.

The gas stove was for stir-frying.

And the wood-fired stove was for stewing and braising.

Soy-braised beef, red-braised pork belly, pork rib soup, red-braised pig’s trotters, large pork hocks...

After setting these time-consuming dishes to simmer one by one, Sierra started on the various stir-fries.

Stir-fried tomato and egg, shredded potato stir-fry, a mix of stir-fried potato, eggplant, and peppers, eggplant with minced pork, ”Ants Climbing a Tree,” sweet and sour pork tenderloin...

These were all dishes that required the intense heat of a wok, best suited for flash-frying over a blazing fire.

With each dish she finished, Sierra packed it into a lunch box.

She also found the various semi-prepared ingredients she had bought.

For example, marinated meats and all kinds of precooked noodles.

These noodles were mainly for making chow mein or stir-fried shredded pancakes.

You just had to prepare some side vegetables, stir-fry everything over high heat, and it would be ready in a minute or two.

Not only was it fast to make, but it also tasted exceptionally good.

Sierra hadn’t been much of a cook before.

But after so long in the apocalypse, constantly helping Jayce as his assistant, it wasn’t just her eyes that had learned—her hands had, too.

For Sierra, making these dishes that didn’t require complex techniques was no longer difficult at all.

Sierra watched the time, and once the various meat stews were about done, she turned off the heat.

She wasn’t in a hurry to pack these up yet. Sierra just took out some ceramic basins, filled a small one with each type of stew, plated several vegetable dishes, and finally left her space with a pot of fragrant rice and a basin of hot and sour soup.

She had just finished setting the food on the table when there was a knock on the living room door.

Candice Tate’s sweet, cheerful voice called from outside, ”Sierra, we’re back!”

”Okay!”

Sierra replied as she went to open the door.

Before Sierra could even reach it, she heard Candice’s voice again. ”Sierra, Nathan Thorne is here too.”

Sierra was speechless. ”...”

Opening the door to see Nathan Thorne grinning foolishly, Sierra was genuinely curious. ”Do you have a dog’s nose or something?”

She makes good food, and Nathan just appears.

It was hard to believe he hadn’t just followed the scent.

”Heh heh!” Nathan chuckled as he entered the living room, closing the door behind him as if to trap the aroma inside. ”A coincidence! It’s just a coincidence! I came to talk to you about something important, not specifically to mooch a meal.”

Jayce raised an eyebrow. ”Is that so? Then you can just sit over there and wait. We’ll be done eating soon, and then we’ll be happy to listen to what you have to say.”

”Huh?”

Nathan was dumbfounded.

’Can he really do that?’

’I was just being polite, and Jayce is actually not going to let me eat!’

Seeing Nathan’s dumbfounded expression, both Jayce and Sierra burst out laughing.

Even Candice was giggling behind her hands.

Seeing the three of them like this, how could Nathan not understand?

Jayce had just been teasing him!

”Jayce, you were teasing me!”

”But for the sake of this amazing food, I’ll let it slide.”

Sierra gestured for them to sit down. ”Alright, everyone sit down and eat! The food’s going to get cold, and it won’t taste as good.”

Nathan completely disagreed. ”How could it not be delicious! Even if it’s cold, it’ll still be amazing! If you guys don’t want it, I’ll eat it all myself!”

”Your scheming is so obvious it’s practically hitting me in the face!” Jayce said, pointing at Nathan with a laugh.

Nathan didn’t mind. Chuckling to himself, he didn’t forget to scoop up some rice.

They were all Superpower Users and had huge appetites.

That was why Sierra hadn’t prepared bowls for the rice, but enamel basins.

The old-fashioned, yellow kind.

Not only did they have a large capacity, but they were also very durable.

As long as you didn’t try to break them on purpose, they could basically last a lifetime.

Each person held an enamel basin, too busy to talk as they shoveled large mouthfuls of food and rice.

Everything Sierra had made was perfect to eat with rice.

Mixing a bit of every dish with the rice was unbelievably delicious.

The delicious food occupied everyone’s mouths and minds, leaving no room for conversation.

Only after every plate and bowl on the table had been scraped clean did they finally let out long, satisfied sighs.

With Jayce around, no one else ever had to worry about washing the dishes.

While Jayce was washing the dishes, Sierra had already pulled several large fruit platters out of her space, all filled with washed fruit.

Nathan never stood on ceremony with them; he just picked one up and started eating.

After devouring half a plate of strawberries in one go, Nathan finally said, ”I actually came over today because I wanted to tell you guys—Captain Grant came to see me. Did he come looking for you too?”

Jayce didn’t know about this and looked puzzled.

Sierra nodded. ”Captain Grant did come by this morning. I haven’t had a chance to tell you yet.”

Sierra briefly recounted her morning conversation with Hector Grant.

Jayce’s brows furrowed tightly as he listened.

”Sierra, what are you thinking? Do you want to go?”

Sierra didn’t directly say whether she wanted to or not. ”I’m still thinking about it. I wanted to ask your opinion, too.”

Jayce knew Sierra well.

Just from her words, he knew she wanted to go.
