Considering Old Master Gu’s status, he would never acknowledge an actress.

He only spoke to Xia Ling. “Little girl, Grandfather Gu is here today because I brought my good-for-nothing granddaughter to apologize to you.”

Xia Ling blinked. Good-for-nothing granddaughter? She finally realized that the person supporting Old Master Gu at the side was actually Gu Lin who had a conflict with her during the Imperial Entertainment reception party some time ago.”

In the past, the little girl Gu Lin was swollen with arrogance, but today, as she was standing beside Old Master Gu, she was as meek as a sheep.

Xia Ling laughed lightly and said, “This matter is in the past. I have not taken this matter to heart.”

“Well, you did not take it to heart but…” Old Master Gu was angry, yet he laughed. “Little girl, you have such a big temperament. Are you really going to forfeit the Meteor Wings endorsement just because of what she said? Gu Lin was in the wrong that day during the reception party. However, she and her father have no right to change something that I decided on. I made the final decision for you to have the endorsement with Meteor Wings. Nothing they say counts.”

The surrounding people gasped in astonishment. They finally understood the background of the old man who was dressed in the Chinese tunic suit. It was actually a family member of the reputable Gu Financial Magnate who had retired for many years! The news of the termination of the endorsement between Meteor Wings and Ye Xingling was known by some people in the inner circle. Everyone thought that Ye Xingling had suffered a huge loss as no good could come from offending the Gu Family, but they did not expect that the Old Master of the family would personally appear to apologize to her.

Sun Jing’s expression changed slightly. Her endorsement with Dynasty Jewelry was not bad, but it did not reach the scale of Gu Financial Magnate’s endorsement. Furthermore, her backing was far inferior compared to the Gu Family’s Old Master.

For a moment, her posture and expression became more respectful.

However, Xia Ling did not care. “It really doesn’t count? Uncle Gu already sent a letter through his lawyer regarding the termination of the endorsement.”

“I have already settled that problem,” said Old Master Gu cheerfully. “Little girl, don’t be as insensible as your Uncle Gu. He only has one precious daughter, and he usually spoils her, so he was irrational. I have already disciplined him.” After knowing that Father Gu terminated the endorsement with Xia Ling, Old Master Gu was infuriated. That night, he abided by the family rules and deprived Father Gu of some of his inheritance rights. His son was good at everything except disciplining his grandchildren. He loved them too much, such that they developed an exaggerated opinion of their abilities. In the end, he even wasted the Gu Family’s wealth and had to rely on their reputation to clean up the mess he created.

Father Gu could destroy the entire Meteor Wings just for his daughter.

It was not certain as to whether he would destroy the entire Gu Family one day.

This was why Old Master Gu was boiling with rage. The reputation of their family which was built on for more than a hundred years was not made for him to squander like that.

Old Master Gu also fiercely reprimanded Gu Lin and warned her that no matter what her tomfoolery was, she must never do anything to harm the interests of the Gu Family. Otherwise, the next time she made such a mistake, he would remove her name from the genealogy!

He was always a man of his word.

As such, Gu Lin became afraid. If her status as the daughter of the Gu Family were revoked, she would amount to nothing. She had no choice. Even though she still harbored hatred in her heart and felt unwilling and wronged, she still had to follow what Old Master Gu told her to do and apologize to Xia Ling.

“I… am sorry.” She lowered her head and tightly clenched her fist. “Ye Xingling, it was my fault. Please don’t be insensible like me. Come back to Meteor Wings and continue the endorsement,” she said in a soft voice. In her heart, she was about to explode. To her, it was obviously the fault of the executives who spoke gibberish in front of her grandfather about how after Meteor Wings lost the endorsement with Ye Xingling, its reputation and sales were on a decline. Otherwise, how could her grandfather bear to let the eldest daughter of the Gu Family apologize to a small star?

This small star had also seduced Brother Lei!

Gu Lin was filled with resentment.

Actually, Old Master Gu knew about what Gu Lin was thinking about. The reason why Father Gu dared to risk Meteor Wings to save his daughter’s face in front of Li Lei was obviously that of the idyllic dream of her marrying into the Li Family.

However, Old Master Gu, who had endured many years of hardship, deeply understood that Gu Lin was never destined to marry Li Lei.

Not only did Li Lei treat Gu Lin as his younger sister, even if he did want to marry her, but Old Master Gu also would definitely not agree to their marriage. The Li Family was part of a criminal syndicate. Even though their domestic business looked peaceful and calm, their overseas dealings were very messy. Arms dealers, smugglers, privates, and mercenaries were all inextricably linked to his family. Marrying into this sort of family was too dangerous. Even Li Lei’s birth mother, the niece of the Italian Mafia’s godfather, died in a fire because her personality was too delicate. Considering that, there was no need to even think about Gu Lin as she did not have any background in a criminal syndicate and was also an extremely simple girl.

Indeed, in Old Master Gu’s eyes, Gu Lin was too simple-minded and sometimes, rather foolish.

Gu Lin looked smart, but in reality, she had no awareness of the time and location she was in and frequently blindly caused mischief without considering the consequences of her actions. Furthermore, Li Lei’s personally chosen girlfriend, the girl who looked cold in front of her, was the polar opposite of Gu Lin. She seemed quiet, but in reality, she was full of ideas. When it was time to be arrogant and strong, she was very arrogant and strong. When it was time to be low-key, she would remain out of the limelight.

Only someone like that was worthy of marrying into the Li Family into the future.

What Old Master Gu wanted to do was to prevent his family’s ignorant son and granddaughter from offending the future Mistress of the Li Family. No, it was possible that they may even have offended Li Lei as well…

After the Old Master reached a hundred years old, how can the friendship between the two families continue?

They must never become enemies.

Old Master Gu cared so much for the next generation of the Gu Family that it broke his heart. That was why he put aside his age and status and personally brought Gu Lin to the film set in the mountains to apologize to Xia Ling, hoping that Xia Ling would forget their previous conflict and continue being the spokesperson for Meteor Wings.

The Meteor Wings endorsement was insignificant compared to the repairing of relations between the two families.

Xia Ling did not know that Old Master Gu had so much in mind. However, since Old Master Gu had already personally brought Gu Lin there to apologize, she had to give him some face. As such, she smiled and said, “Let’s not bring up that matter and leave it in the past. I will adjust my schedule with my manager and free up some time for the Meteor Wings’ endorsement.”

She had accepted the Gu Family’s apology.

Only then did Old Master Gu sigh in relief. He was not mistaken. The girl in front in him was not someone who enjoyed stirring up trouble. In contrast, she knew about the general situation and cared about the overall outcome. Although she had a proud and hot-tempered personality, when she saw Gu Lin lowering her head to apologize, she did not take the chance to flare up and criticize Gu Lin. She was really showing respect to the Gu Family.

Old Master Gu’s expression became kinder. “Little girl, the Gu Financial Magnate will not treat you poorly.”

“I’m sure they will treat me well.” Xia Ling smiled. “Grandfather Gu, you have traveled very far to come here. How about you take a break? There are five-star hotels that the crew booked nearby. I will ask Director Jin to allocate two rooms for you.”

Before Old Master Gu could react, the surrounding people were in shock. How could she ask Director Jin to do something like that? Director Jin was a prominent director who had won numerous international awards! As a small star, how could she use that sort of flippant tone to ask him to do something as if he were her younger brother?!

On the contrary, “younger brother” Jin was delighted to be called. “Yes, yes, I will arrange it now.”

Everyone’s eyeballs were about to fall out from staring at his reaction.
