Li Lei’s steady steps that seemed to carry irresistible force were so powerful that it caused the entire hall to become silent. Wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt that was as white as moonlight, the faint outline of his muscles underneath the cotton fabric contracted and relaxed as he walked like a beautiful and dangerous beast.

Xia Ling looked at him as he strode past her assailants towards her, each of his footsteps going against the light. At this moment, it seemed as if the whole world’s troubles were far away from her, only his face was real and gave her a peace of mind.

“Li Lei.” She lightly called out to him again.

Li Lei walked in front of her and pulled her out of Nan Sheng’s arms.

Her hands were still tied together. As her feet hurt from the thin high heels, she was unable to balance properly and fell into Li Lei’s arms. He hugged her warmly and lowered his head to look at her hands. “They tied your hands together?”

She nodded her head rather aggrievedly.

Li Lei’s expression turned even colder, but he did not say anything. He lifted her wrists and looked closely at them before using some strength to pull the rope, causing the initially strong rope to snap in two. He took off the white long laced gloves and frowned. “Your hands have turned blue.”

However, she did not care. “It’s fine.”

She was glad that he came. Compared to being rescued, her minor wounds were insignificant.

Li Lei lifted his head to look at Nan Sheng. “You will pay the price for your actions.”

Nan Sheng was frightened by his murderous eyes and subconsciously took a step back. Coming back to his senses, he straightened his neck and retorted. “Who are you? How dare you intrude into my territory! Quickly return this brat to me, or I will not let you leave in one piece!”

Nan Sheng felt that although he should not offend the man in front of him, the man was alone and the large hall had 18 tables of guests, which amounted to around 200 people. A large number of them were strong young men. He should not be afraid of him.

Li Lei ignored him and whispered to Xia Ling in a low voice. “We’re in the country, so killing people isn’t very convenient. How about I help you get even by first crippling his hands? If you are still not satisfied, I will bring him to the open seas. You decide if he should walk the plank or be eaten by sharks.”

If anyone else said that, Xia Ling would probably think that they were joking, but she knew that Li Lei was serious. He was the shady young master of the Li family and already had blood on his hands. As long as he had the intention of killing someone, that person would definitely die. However, she did not want him to kill anyone. After all, she had lived as a good citizen for two lifetimes. The cruel and dark underground world was too far removed from her. She also did not have the heart to kill someone even if Li Lei was adamant on killing him. She did not want him to carry the burden of taking away someone’s life.

She shook her head. “Forget it.”

“Well then, I will break both of his hands,” said Li Lei in a gentler voice. This was as far as he could compromise. After Mr. Zhou sent an emergency message alerting him that Xia Ling was in danger, his entire body was struck with fear. He felt as though he had entered a bottomless pit that had no end tormenting him.

He rushed there as fast as possible and spent the whole time praying that she was fine.

Presently, she was wearing a very revealing wedding gown, her wrists were filled with injuries, and she was restrained so someone could forcefully kiss her. Li Lei dared not think about what would have happened to her if he was late by even a second…

Li Lei was at the peak of his rage and could not calm down. After he supported her to the safe zone, he walked towards Nan Sheng.

“You… What are you doing?! Don’t come here!” Nan Sheng was terrified by the coldness in his eyes and began shaking. He took a step back, then another… until he could no longer retreat further. Nan Sheng summoned his courage and yelled. “Meng Zi and Da Hu! Why are you so shocked?! Quickly deal with this man! Hurry!”

Only after hearing his scream did Nan Sheng’s lackeys reacted and rushed towards the stage one after another.

“Don’t you dare come over.” As Li Lei turned around, a gun impressively appeared in his hand.

“Oh my god…” A commotion erupted in the crowd. What exactly was this man’s background for him to carry a gun?! It was known that guns were banned within the country, and general smugglers simply could not obtain that sort of contraband. Furthermore, at first glance, you could tell the gun was not ordinary. Together with a huge body and a large caliber, the black coating gave people the feeling of indescribable danger.

“That’s an M500!” Some military fans recognized the gun in Li Lei’s hands and retreated a few steps. That was the most lethal pistol in the world. It was even more powerful than the Desert Eagle. An elephant could be killed with one shot. Anyone who had a brain would not be willing to experience its power personally.

That group of thugs was just a group of delinquents formed by Nan Sheng. They usually bullied innocent citizens, beat people up, or collected debt. They were far from a real underworld gang. Many of them had not even touched a gun before. Thus, when Li Lei pulled out an M500, many people were terrified. Even if they had more people, what was the use? How could a group of people that were holding sticks fight with someone who had a gun?

Just as they were about to hesitate and retreat, a person suddenly shouted. “Don’t be afraid of him! How could it be possible for someone to carry a gun within the country! That gun is definitely fake!”

Bang. A gunshot was heard.

Panic-stricken, everyone started to flee. A few timid guests had already begun to run helter-skelter. Amidst the chaos, they crashed into the tables and fell down. Women were crying and, the children were screaming. It was pandemonium.

The man who screamed that the gun was fake was already sitting on the floor, and a stench was detected from a pool of yellow water that had formed beneath him. He was so intimidated that he had wet his pants. There was a bit of smoke a centimeter away from his feet.

Li Lei laughed coldly. “The next time I fire, I will aim for your head.”

That man’s face turned pale and immediately fainted.

“Run… Run quickly!” Someone shouted. All of the thugs that were surrounding Li Lei started to run away like the guests. However, before they could do so, those people that escaped earlier ran back again as if they had met a ghost. Two groups of people were ramming into each other, transforming the scene in a comic sight.

Xia Ling lifted her head only to see that there were about ten gunmen following the guests as they rushed back in. Their faces were cold as they herded the people like sheep, ensuring that no one escaped.

“Mister… mister, you should spare our lives.” A woman cried out. “We don’t know anything. We’re innocent… Please be magnanimous and let us go. I’m begging you…”

Li Lei took a look at Xia Ling.

Xia Ling lightly said, “She was the one who instructed them to tie my hands together.” Xia Ling should not be blamed for her cruelty. It was really that woman who provoked her first. If Li Lei had not arrived in time, at this moment, she would have been forced into the room to consummate the marriage with Nan Sheng by the female assistants.

As such, Li Lei said, “Everyone, quieten down. I will deal with you after I’m done with Nan Sheng. If anyone dares to make a sound, don’t blame me for heartlessly firing.” He was not very loud. In fact, his voice was so soft it was utterly unemotional. Nevertheless, everyone instantly became quiet. Except for a few occasional sobs, no one dared to make a sound.

Li Lei turned over to look at Nan Sheng.

After witnessing what had happened just now, Nan Sheng’s legs were shaking so violently he could not stand straight. Dear God, what sort of person have I offended? Is that person the brat’s wealthy partner? What the hell! Why is he so terrifying and vicious?!He thought.
