God's Imitator

Although they hadn’t encountered each other in games before, judging from the ’Shelter Game’ situation, Chen Guangming was definitely not a trustworthy cooperation partner. When formulating team strategies, he would definitely say half and hide half.

Whenever there was an opportunity, he would unhesitatingly sell out his teammates.

Just like what he did to other players from Community 12 in the ’Shelter Game’.

Chen Guangming didn’t deny this point, ”Of course I have other plans.

”But you don’t need to worry, because this game’s mechanism is different from before, so cooperation between players can’t be very tight. It will only be relatively loose.

”In this situation, cooperation doesn’t have a very stable foundation, but betrayal also doesn’t have much benefit.

”I still need some players to cooperate with me in executing the entire plan, so even if I’m going to scam some players, I’ll definitely prioritize scamming fringe figures in this group.

”I can reveal something to you: I won’t occupy positions in the ’Compare Sizes’ and ’Simple Poker’ rooms. I’m very certain that in the other rooms of the game hall, there must be ways to stably obtain more returns.”

Xu Zhao pondered for a moment and nodded.

Actually, theoretically speaking, 8 people could rotate among themselves for the fixed 8 positions in these two rooms, but after all, one had to consider the time for dividends and movement.Having 12 people divided into three groups for rotation was more secure.

However, if among the 12 people someone voluntarily gave up the opportunity to enter these two rooms to obtain stable returns, the other players would also be very happy to see it.

Although Chen Guangming didn’t say which room he specifically planned to stably obtain returns from, just telling Xu Zhao about this matter already counted as hinting at a certain goodwill.

Chen Guangming continued, ”Besides this, I can also help you complete the God’s Imitator’s task.

”The method is simple: If I haven’t guessed wrong, the game rooms designed by God’s Imitators might have requirements to earn a certain amount of visa time or complete a certain number of games.

”Regarding this point, you actually don’t need to worry too much for now. I think before long, players will try to enter ’Chess Endgame’ to play.

”After that, if my plan goes smoothly, I should be able to quickly collect five cards and earn enough visa time.

”I can help you find a small number of trustworthy players to go to ’Chess Endgame’ to mutually farm game counts.

”After all, in ’Chess Endgame’, there’s no rule forcing players not to agree on wins and losses, right?”

Xu Zhao lowered his head and fell into contemplation, but ultimately nodded, ”Alright, I hope we have a pleasant cooperation.”

He would of course be on guard against Chen Guangming, but in the current situation, he could only cooperate first.

Because Xu Zhao really couldn’t find a better cooperation partner, nor could he bear the consequences of Chen Guangming exposing his identity.

’Chess Endgame’ theoretically did have a way to cooperate. When both sides were clear about a certain endgame solution, any person could deliberately make a losing move and freely give the opponent victory.

So if both sides were willing, they could indeed agree to take turns winning.

However, this required long-term cooperation between the two sides with good trust between them. And because rake and transaction tax existed, this behavior would inevitably be a negative-sum game, with both sides losing a bit.

But Xu Zhao was also very clear that if he didn’t use this method, ’Chess Endgame’ would very likely be unable to meet the minimum income requirement, resulting in him being eliminated as a God’s Imitator.

Things had come to this point. Although Xu Zhao knew that cooperating with Chen Guangming was equivalent to seeking skin from a tiger, he could only agree for now.

If he could later discover a way to ensure his own safety and win alone, Xu Zhao would of course also unhesitatingly choose to betray.

...

On the other side, in the ’Compare Sizes’ room.

He Xiaojun from Community 14 opened his dice cup and couldn’t help but clench his fist, silently shouting ”YES”.

His points were 5, winning over the player across from him.

In two-player battle mode, both people wagered 400 chips each, and the winning side could additionally receive 100 chips.

So He Xiaojun’s net return was 500 chips.

The player across from him was somewhat disappointed, but didn’t say anything. He just continued to the next game.

After entering this game, He Xiaojun hadn’t thought of a very good strategy either. He could only continue the method from the previous ’Fool’s Game’.

Find a positive-sum game as much as possible to ensure he didn’t become a player with bottom-tier returns.

The ’Compare Sizes’ game room was the most popular. He Xiaojun also quickly noticed that all the games in this room were positive-sum games, so he came to grab a position at the first opportunity.

Unfortunately, he was still a step too late. All four single player mode small tables had already been occupied by other players.

He Xiaojun could only settle for second best and occupied a position in two-player battle mode.

If he had been any later, even this position wouldn’t have been secure.

Although there was still the multi-player large table, it was obviously not very cost-effective because only one winner could exist each round.

Although the winnings were more, and overall it was also a positive-sum game, the probability of winning was relatively low, so only a few players were willing to try their luck.

The dice-rolling gameplay was simple and the pace was very fast. He Xiaojun kept in mind the lesson from the previous ’Fool’s Game’ and tried as much as possible not to think at all, letting this game return to probability.

However, his luck this time wasn’t bad. Playing through, he won more and lost less.

His opponents changed three times. The first one stopped playing after losing the free chips. The latter two exchanged some additional chips.

Finally, after playing for half an hour, He Xiaojun counted the chips in his hand and found he had reached 8,900.

Of these, 1,000 chips were freely exchanged when entering the game room. The rest were all won from other players, plus the extra rewards from two-player battle mode.

After hearing the room dividend notification, He Xiaojun hurriedly went to the room entrance together with other players.

And some players who had been specifically waiting took this opportunity to occupy the single player mode positions.

[Current room’s dividend amount for this time: 67,000 minutes of visa time.]

[Current room’s chip exchange ratio: ’Chips : Visa time = 100 : 56’]

He Xiaojun exchanged all the chips in his hand for visa time with great anticipation, but discovered he could only exchange for 4,984 minutes of visa time.

This wasn’t enough to produce an equipment card at all.

”It’s this little?”

He Xiaojun was somewhat surprised.

He didn’t go far, and instead looked again at those players playing single player mode.

These four people exchanged significantly more visa time, roughly fluctuating around 9,000 minutes of visa time.

Among them, players with relatively good luck could exchange for over ten thousand visa time and happily obtained an equipment card. But players with not-so-good luck were very awkward. Whether exchanging 8,000 or 9,000, it was just not quite enough.

They could only wait for the next dividend to scrape together 10,000 minutes of visa time in returns and obtain a card.

He Xiaojun realized that the current situation didn’t seem quite right.

Because the returns were obviously much lower than he had expected!

”What is this? Chip inflation...”
