God's Imitator

Cheng Wen carefully read the game rules for this room.

The basic rules were very simple. In single player mode, you just guessed sizes. You used a dice cup to roll the dice yourself, then selected ’Big’ or ’Small’ on the small table. Rolling 1, 2, or 3 was small, and rolling 4, 5, or 6 was big.

In multi-player battle mode, you compared points. The player with the highest points won all the chips alone. When there was a tie in points, they were split evenly.

Additionally, when players shook the dice, there was a fixed time, about 10 seconds.

You couldn’t open the dice cup early, or it would be considered a violation.

The rules were very simple and easy to understand, but the key point was the amount of chips won.

[Game Rewards]

[Players can exchange visa time for chips at a 1:1 ratio with no quantity limit.]

[When players enter the room, they can receive 1,000 chips for free.]

[In single player mode, 200 chips must be wagered each time. If you correctly guess the size of the points, your wager is returned and you additionally receive 400 chips. If you guess wrong, the 200 chips wagered are deducted.][In two-player battle mode, both sides wager 400 chips each. The side with higher points wins and takes all the wagered chips plus an additional 100 chips. If there’s a tie, the game is played again.]

[In multi-player battle mode, all participants wager 400 chips. The winner with the highest points takes all the wagered chips plus an additional 200 chips. If multiple players have the highest points, the chips are split evenly.]

Besides this, there were two other restrictions.

[In single player mode, each player can play continuously for a maximum of 30 minutes, after which they will be prohibited from playing for 30 minutes.]

[In two-player or multi-player mode, players are strictly prohibited from agreeing on wins and losses in any way, or it will be judged as a violation.]

After reading the rules, Cheng Wen somewhat understood why so many people were playing this game.

This was far too cost-effective!

First, entering the game gave 1,000 chips for free to play with casually. Moreover, if you looked carefully, you’d discover that all three of these battle modes were clearly positive-sum games.

This meant that no matter how players played, the expected return was positive.

Single player mode was especially cost-effective.

However, the game rules also clearly stated that players were strictly prohibited from agreeing on wins and losses in any way.

In other words, players had to shake the dice cup using standard movements and determine win-loss results by the points shown when opening the dice cup. They couldn’t try to change the points or agree on the order of winning chips.

But precisely because it was a game purely based on luck, players played very enthusiastically.

If Cheng Wen had been allowed to choose at the very beginning, he would definitely have also chosen this room.

Because this room was all positive-sum games, and the rules were absolutely fair, with no tricks at all.

But at this moment, Cheng Wen already knew that precisely because this room was all positive-sum games and had no rake, players’ returns were all quite good, resulting in too many players sharing dividends, ultimately meaning each player’s dividends wouldn’t be too much.

Moreover, the most critical point was that single player mode was obviously the most cost-effective, with an extra reward of 200 chips.

Two-player mode rewarded fewer chips, only 100.

Multi-player mode also had an extra reward of 200 chips, but the more people there were, the greater the probability of losing, and the expected return was also lower.

And at this moment, all the single player mode spots had players occupying them.

Although according to the game rules, each player could only play in single player mode for 30 minutes, after which they had to be forced to vacate the position and could only play again after 30 minutes, looking at the situation of these four players, they had obviously just started playing not long ago.

If you couldn’t grab a single player mode spot, the returns from other positions were very unfavorable.

Of course, there was also the most important point: Lin Sizhi had never considered this room from start to finish.

So after observing for a while, Cheng Wen left the ’Compare Sizes’ room and went to check the situation in other rooms.

...

A bit earlier, in ’Room 1: Simple Poker’.

Xu Zhao sat at a two-person gambling table near the glass wall. This position allowed him to see the situation at the entrances of other rooms very well.

He looked at the three poker cards in his hand, then instinctively looked through the glass wall at ’Room 4: Chess Endgame’.

There were four players battling in the ’Simple Poker’ room, while ’Chess Endgame’ didn’t have a single person.

Completely ignored.

Xu Zhao’s complexion was somewhat pale. He had already realized that the current situation was very bad. If he didn’t do something, this God’s Imitator identity had a high probability of directly getting him killed.

But he couldn’t think of any way to save himself at all.

The male player sitting across from him wearing gold-rimmed glasses adjusted his glasses, ”You’ve instinctively looked at the ’Chess Endgame’ room three times already, when there’s clearly no one inside.

”I’m guessing you wouldn’t happen to be the God’s Imitator who designed this room, would you?”

Xu Zhao couldn’t help but be startled. He tried hard to control himself from overreacting, but obviously, these subtle changes in expression were still clearly seen by the male player across from him.

The male player wearing gold-rimmed glasses still revealed his cards as usual.

Both had miscellaneous hands. Xu Zhao’s miscellaneous hand was slightly better.

But obviously, Xu Zhao was now in a completely disadvantageous position.

The male player wearing gold-rimmed glasses extended his hand, ”Community 12, Chen Guangming. Interested in cooperating?”

...

Shortly after entering the game, Xu Zhao realized that his current situation was very dangerous. He had to find a way to save himself.

Originally, Xu Zhao had thought of two different game design plans. One was a logic puzzle, the other was chess endgames.

Looking at it now, chess endgames were clearly the more correct choice, but still not correct enough.

Because he still wasn’t ruthless enough!

Look at the other five different games in this hall. Except for ’Sea Minesweeper’, the other four games had all uniformly set the rake at 0%.

And only the ’Chess Endgame’ he designed set the rake at 10%, and the transaction tax wasn’t even displayed.

Even worse, the game he designed had no single player mode, only two-player battle mode.

Therefore, most players didn’t even look at this game’s specific rules and gameplay. Just because of these two points, they directly passed on it, then gathered at ’Room 1: Simple Poker’ and ’Room 5: Compare Sizes’.

There were clearly more players at ’Compare Sizes’, with 11 people, while ’Simple Poker’ had 6 people.

The other rooms had ’Sea Minesweeper’ with 2 people, ’Equipment Forging’ with 1 person, and ’Chess Endgame’ and ’Auction Tycoon’ currently had no one for the time being.

The ’Equipment Forging’ room was relatively special. When initially checking the rules, quite a few players gathered at the room entrance, because this room had neither rake nor transaction tax, so it was very attractive to players.

But at this moment, only one player had actually gone in to try, because players hadn’t been able to find a stable income strategy.

Xu Zhao’s first reaction was to enter his own room, ’Chess Endgame’.

Because he was very clear about the solutions to these endgames. If someone was willing to play against him, he had a high degree of confidence he could win.

This way, he could both earn visa time from the room and also brush up the room’s game count. The turnover or transaction tax generated could also become the God’s Imitator’s income.

But after hesitating for a while, he still chose to give up and didn’t enter.

Because he couldn’t find a reliable opponent, and also worried that his God’s Imitator identity would be exposed.

Judging from the current situation, ’Chess Endgame’ was being ignored, and there was no single player game mode. Going in by himself alone was too strange.

And proactively pulling players from other communities to go play together would also easily arouse suspicion.

So after considering, Xu Zhao still decided to first enter other rooms, trying to earn some visa time on one side while taking the long view on the other, considering how to save himself.

After all, the time for this game was very long.
