Just Engaged, the Abandoned Comeback System Arrived

Chapter 178: Chapter 178: Only Treating Him as a Younger Brother, Cold and Ruthless

Lu Yuan’s identity as a Weapon Master was unknown to the outside world, and he hadn’t been at the Demon Suppression Bureau for long. Logically, he shouldn’t be well-known. Except for what happened yesterday...

”Didn’t you know? Lu Yuan defeated the Great Huang Sect’s top genius, Situ Yao, at the Demon Suppression Bureau yesterday.

”His reputation has rapidly spread throughout the sect.

”I heard Lu Yuan is only sixteen...”

Ruan Xiangling’s gaze constantly swept over Lu Yuan’s face and body, wanting to see exactly what made him such a genius.

”Yes, Lu Yuan is very impressive.” Liu Lianyue nodded.

Aside from his formidable Martial Arts, Lu Yuan was also a peerless genius as a Weapon Master. However, she felt inexplicably upset.

”How did you two meet? Oh, your younger brother is also in the Demon Suppression Bureau. Are they in the same squad?”

Ruan Xiangling looked at Liu Lianyue and noticed her mood was off. Her eyes shifted to Lu Yuan as she asked, ”Is your fiancée inside? Let’s go meet her.”

Saying that, she grabbed Liu Lianyue’s hand and prepared to walk in.

SWISH.

Lu Yuan reached out to block them. ”I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

”Why? What’s wrong with it? Is she afraid to see people?” Ruan Xiangling asked with a smile.

”It’s inconvenient. My fiancée is completely unaware right now, so it would be a bit impolite for you to just barge in,” Lu Yuan said.

”We just want to buy some clothes too. Is that not allowed?” Ruan Xiangling asked, her smile carrying a hint of interrogation.

”Not right now.” Lu Yuan looked at Liu Lianyue. ”Sister Liu, I’ll introduce you when there’s an opportunity. Please forgive me.”

”We’re the ones intruding. Senior Sister, let’s go back.” Liu Lianyue tugged on Ruan Xiangling’s arm.

Why was she doing this? What was the point? It was just making things ugly.

”This kid is really overbearing. He might be young, but his heart is quite cold and ruthless,” Ruan Xiangling scolded, shooting Lu Yuan a sideways glance.

Lu Yuan stood there, his face darkening slightly. ”I’m definitely not as passionate and fiery as Sister Ruan.”

”Sister?” Ruan Xiangling’s face turned black. ”You...”

”I’m sorry, Brother Lu Yuan,” Liu Lianyue said, pulling Ruan Xiangling away.

”Brother Yuan~~” Lin Siyao appeared, holding a piece of clothing in her hands. ”Do you think this outfit looks good?”

”It looks great. It will definitely look even better on you,” Lu Yuan replied with a smile.

”Haha, then I’ll buy it.” Lin Siyao smiled and turned to go back inside.

”So that’s Lu Yuan’s fiancée...” Ruan Xiangling’s expression changed.

Her appearance and temperament were completely on par with Liu Lianyue’s, perhaps even slightly superior. But the key point was...

Liu Lianyue’s eyes flickered, then quickly dimmed. She didn’t care about anything else. But there was one thing: age. The girl was young and was Lu Yuan’s childhood sweetheart. Meanwhile, she was four or five years older than him...

”Geniuses are all strong-willed and unmoved by external things. This kid is even more cold and ruthless. You should just give up,” Ruan Xiangling advised.

”I...” Liu Lianyue moved her lips. ”I only see him as a younger brother.”

”Really? Only you know if you truly see him as just a brother.” Ruan Xiangling shook her head. ”Besides, you shouldn’t have even met him that many times. How could you...”

”He...” Liu Lianyue couldn’t explain it clearly herself.

His excellence was unquestionable. A Weapon Master genius, a Martial Arts genius, possessing a mature calmness that didn’t match his age, and his way of handling people and affairs... Coupled with that guy Liu Zhi constantly praising him in her ear every day...

”Like I said, I only see him as a younger brother.”

”Right, a younger brother, just a brother! Let’s go.” Ruan Xiangling pulled Liu Lianyue away. ”Today, your senior sister will buy you some clothes to comfort you.”

”Senior Sister~~”

...

Buying clothes was actually quite fast, considering Lu Yuan was waiting outside. Before long, the three women came out carrying three large bags of clothes. Lu Yuan stored them all into his Storage Ring.

”Where to next?” Lu Yuan looked at the three women, mainly directing his question to his mother, Wei Huiling, and his fiancée, Lin Siyao.

”I want to buy some flowering trees,” Wei Huiling said. The courtyard needed some decoration.

”Flowering trees! Yes! Flowers!” Yaoyao quickly chimed in. She loved growing flowers.

”Buying some flowers is a good idea.” Lin Siyao also nodded. Growing more flowers would make the courtyard smell fragrant. Although winter was approaching, there was always next year.

”Alright, then let’s go to the flower market.”

Lu Yuan led the three women toward the flora and fauna market.

However, on the way, they encountered a convoy escorting slaves. Carriage after carriage rolled by, pulling large iron cages filled with various slaves transported from other regions. But these slaves weren’t human; they were predominantly Half-Demons.

Half-Demons were those who possessed demon blood and were half-transformed into demons. Examples included catgirls, foxgirls, bear-men, wolf-men, and so on.

Dozens of large carts were escorted by one or two hundred people in a massive, imposing procession. Perhaps because the quality of this batch was quite high, the slave merchants hadn’t covered the cages with tarps, choosing instead to display them openly.

The escorts were all tall and burly. Riding fine steeds or exotic beasts, their steps were sonorous and exuded immense authority. Yet, the way they looked at others was contemptuous, carrying the condescending arrogance and disdain of those who controlled life and death. This attitude remained the same even after arriving in the Jade Capital and facing the Jade Capital People. It was as if everyone around them were just their slaves and merchandise.

Lu Yuan reached out, gesturing for the three women to step back a little. This was a major merchant guild; they likely had a powerful background.

”Make way! Make way!”

A bald, burly man wearing animal skins cleared the path on horseback. He brandished a long saber in his hand, acting incredibly arrogant. As his gaze swept the crowd, his eyes lit up slightly when he saw Lu Yuan’s group. Riding his one-horned horse over, he swung his large saber in their direction, intending to frighten the four of them.

CLANG.

Lu Yuan reached out and grabbed the blade, a cold light exploding in his eyes. ”You’re courting death!”

SNAP.

With a surge of force from his hand, Lu Yuan directly snapped the long saber in two. Then, he leaped into the air...

BAM.

He kicked the man flying.

THUD THUD THUD.

Lu Yuan’s figure moved like the wind, chasing after the man and continuing to ruthlessly stomp on him.

”Who is it?”

”Who’s there?”

”Stop!”

Five or six martial artists quickly rushed over and surrounded Lu Yuan. Seeing that Lu Yuan was in the Seventh Grade, they didn’t dare to attack rashly. However...

SWISH.

A figure flashed forward, surging with Primordial Qi. ”Who are you? Why did you injure our man?”

”If you’re blind, go find a doctor to look at your eyes. If your heart is rotten, I can help you fix it.” Lu Yuan grabbed the bald man by the head, lifted him up, and delivered another solid punch squarely to his face.

”You...” The man’s face darkened like murky water. ”Insolent! Do you know which merchant guild we belong to? You better be careful of the consequences of offending us.”

”Do you know where I’m from? Who I am? And yet you dare threaten me?” Lu Yuan sneered.

”Who... exactly are you?” The man felt a mix of shock and doubt. To be so young, yet dare to speak like this with such absolute confidence—his background was definitely not simple.

”What’s going on? Why aren’t we moving?”

Another middle-aged man walked over. He looked to be in his early forties, sporting a goatee and a rather slender physique. However, he was walking on thin air, covering tens of meters with a single step.

This was a Sixth Grade martial artist!

”Why are you blocking the way here?” His gaze landed on Lu Yuan.

”Your man offended me,” Lu Yuan stated calmly.

”Oh?” The middle-aged man nodded and glanced at the bald, burly man. ”Blind trash. Drag him back and feed him to the dogs!”
