Just Engaged, the Abandoned Comeback System Arrived

Chapter 154: Chapter 154: Dad, There’s a Monster!

In the courtyard.

”Murder! Murder!” Lin Siheng scrambled over to Uncle Yuann, his face pale with terror. ”Lu Yuan killed someone!”

”Stop talking nonsense,” Uncle Yuann said, rolling over.

”I’m not! I saw it with my own eyes! He hit his senior brother right on the forehead with a hammer! He hit him really hard!” Lin Siheng was absolutely certain, his tone unwavering.

”Heh, then why aren’t you running away? He might come and hammer you next,” Uncle Yuann teased.

”Run? Right, run! I need to run!” Lin Siheng sprinted to the door, then suddenly stopped and turned around. ”Wait, that’s not right. He’s married to my sister. Why would he kill me? What am I running for? Besides, he must have killed a bad guy. A bad guy! Yes, that’s it!”

”Yan Qing is a bad guy now?” Uncle Yuann thought, wanting to laugh.

”Are you sure he won’t kill you?”

”Positive! Absolutely! Why would he kill me?” Lin Siheng couldn’t think of a single reason.

”Go take another look. He might still be hammering,” Uncle Yuann pointed.

”No way. Is he that brutal?” Lin Siheng was a little scared. After hesitating for a moment, he slowly approached the room.

The next moment, his eyes widened in shock.

...

”Lu Yuan, do it again.” Yan Qing’s eyes were filled with anticipation.

The feeling just now had been too wonderful, completely intoxicating. The benefits of improving one’s innate aptitude were self-evident—it was a comprehensive elevation of one’s very foundation.

”I’m tired. I’m not doing it anymore,” Lu Yuan shook his head. ”Besides, your body reached its limit a while ago. You need time to adapt.”

The human body had its limits; it couldn’t be upgraded infinitely. Just now, he had felt a significant amount of Spiritual Power failing to penetrate Yan Qing’s body, ending up completely wasted. That was Yan Qing’s limit. Perhaps they could try again after some time had passed. Or maybe once Yan Qing’s Cultivation improved.

”Ah, I see.” Yan Qing looked disappointed. He had thought they could do it at least two or three more times, elevating his aptitude to the level of a resilient ox or a sturdy mountain.

”Some other time,” Lu Yuan said, storing the Celestial Derivation Hammer into his Storage Ring.

”Lu Yuan...” Yan Qing’s expression suddenly turned solemn as he warned, ”Use the Celestial Derivation Hammer with caution!”

”I understand,” Lu Yuan nodded.

The Celestial Derivation Hammer was a legacy Spiritual Weapon of the Celestial Weapon Sect. Many experts recognized it, making it easy to expose his identity. It would be highly troublesome if their enemies or the Earth Weapon and Human Weapon Sects tracked them down.

”I’ll only use it to improve my family’s aptitude.”

”Mm,” Yan Qing nodded.

He was at ease with this. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have handed the hammer over to Lu Yuan in the first place. Furthermore, if he drew attention to himself in the limelight, Lu Yuan could rapidly grow in the background. ”Once you become a Grand Artisan and reach the Fourth Grade in Cultivation, you can act more freely.”

Truthfully, Fourth Grade wasn’t enough either. Their master had been killed despite having a Third Grade Cultivation. However, staying in the Jade Capital was different, as they had the protection of the Dynasty’s forces. As long as Lu Yuan displayed the talent of a divine artisan, the Imperial Family, the Jiang Family, would do everything in their power to protect him. When that time came, no enemy would be a threat.

”Fourth Grade... That’s still a long way off.” Lu Yuan’s gaze grew distant. Even with the system, it would probably take him four or five years.

”Yes, it is far away. But a true expert must be able to endure loneliness,” Yan Qing sighed helplessly.

This was a path all experts had to walk. They inevitably had to be tempered by the passage of time.

By the time the two stepped out of the room, the sky had already grown dark.

”Have you seen enough?” Lu Yuan looked down and asked.

”Lu Yuan, that Celestial Derivation Hammer of yours looks incredible. Can you hammer me with it too?” Lin Siheng asked, his face full of anticipation. He had realized that the hammer was a good thing, and being hit by it yielded great benefits.

”Not you. You’re too young. If I hammer you, you’ll stop growing,” Lu Yuan shook his head.

”Huh? Why?” Lin Siheng was thoroughly confused. Kids couldn’t take Pills, they couldn’t train too hard, and now he couldn’t even get hit by a hammer.

”No arguments. Just do as you’re told!” Lu Yuan said sternly.

”Oh,” Lin Siheng nodded.

”The Celestial Derivation Hammer... I finally get to witness a trace of its former glory once more.” Uncle Yuann sighed, his gaze landing on Lu Yuan. ”It’s a pity your Cultivation is a bit too low, otherwise you could help this old man hammer his bones and muscles.”

”Just you wait, Elder Yuan. Once I become a Grand Artisan, I will definitely forge you like a divine weapon,” Lu Yuan laughed.

”I’ll be waiting for that day! Excellent!” Uncle Yuann’s eyes immediately lit up. If his body could be forged into a divine weapon, how incredible would that be?

Hearing this, Lin Siheng grew even more eager.

Unfortunately...

”Remember, do not mention the words ’Celestial Derivation Hammer’ to anyone!” Lu Yuan warned.

”Understood! Don’t worry, Lu Yuan, my lips are sealed.” Lin Siheng made a zipping motion across his mouth. ”Just don’t forget me when the good stuff comes around!”

”...” Lu Yuan reached out and grabbed the boy’s small head. ”Are you staying here tonight, or are you coming home with me?”

”Coming home, of course!” Lin Siheng jumped down from the rock. ”If I weren’t waiting for you, do you think I would have stayed this late?”

”Let’s go, then.” Lu Yuan took Lin Siheng’s small hand and led him away.

After dark, the streets of the Jade Capital were vast, quiet, and sparsely populated. Moonlight spilled over the ground as a chilling yin energy rose, accompanied by a cool, gentle breeze.

Lin Siheng rarely saw the Jade Capital at night, so everything felt incredibly novel to him. He let go of Lu Yuan’s hand and looked around, observing his surroundings.

”Be careful. After nightfall, some demons and monsters come out to roam,” Lu Yuan warned.

”Demons and monsters? Where would demons and monsters come from in the Jade Capital?” Lin Siheng didn’t believe him and paid the warning little mind. ”Besides, aren’t you in the Demon Suppression Bureau, Lu Yuan? Are you scared of monsters?”

”That depends on whether it’s a major demon or a minor one. If it’s a minor one, I’m not afraid, but if it’s a major demon, we’d need your dad to step in.” Lu Yuan tightened his grip on the Wind Thunder Saber in his hand.

He had sensed a trace of demonic aura. However, since he wasn’t a professional tracker, he couldn’t pinpoint the creature’s exact location.

SHING.

Lu Yuan unsheathed the Wind Thunder Saber just a fraction.

CRACKLE.

Sparks of electricity danced across the blade, meant to deter whatever demonic creature was spying on them. If he hadn’t had Lin Siheng with him, he definitely would have tried to flush it out.

”Send a message to your dad. Tell him to come here!”

”Dad, there’s a monster!” Lin Siheng hurriedly pulled out a jade pendant and shouted. The little guy was incredibly sharp; he had also sensed that something was wrong.

WHOOSH.

Lin Qingfeng appeared much faster than expected. Barely a moment after Lin Siheng spoke, he teleported onto the scene. Sweeping his gaze around, he reached out his hand.

”MEOW!”

He dragged out a massive black cat.

”A Netherworld Cat. Whose pet is this?”

”Spare my life, my lord! Spare my life!” the black cat begged in human speech. ”I am a humble servant of General Chang’s Mansion!”

”The Chang Brothers? You still die!” Lin Qingfeng instantly crushed it to a pulp.

It had targeted his son. He didn’t care whose mansion it belonged to.

”MEOW!”

A Demon Soul emerged, attempting to flee. But Lin Qingfeng caught it in his grasp and effortlessly annihilated it.

”Let’s go!” Lin Qingfeng waved his hand, sweeping away the yin energy and all other lingering auras before instantly teleporting back with Lu Yuan and Lin Siheng.

They traversed miles in the blink of an eye.

Lu Yuan landed on the ground, his heart still pounding violently.

He was too strong! Compared to Lin Qingfeng, he was leagues behind. He wouldn’t even be able to withstand a single finger from the man.

This time, they landed directly in the Lu Family’s courtyard, as both families had gathered today to celebrate Lu Yuan’s promotion to Squad.
