Just Engaged, the Abandoned Comeback System Arrived

Chapter 152: Chapter 152: Mu Lingyan Flips Out

Mu Lingyan finally understood that Lu Yuan hadn’t even unleashed half of his strength earlier. He hadn’t even activated the runes on the Wind Thunder Saber. She had felt something was wrong. Was he responding to her previous contempt?

”Lu Yuan, your courage is commendable, but the gap between you and me is still vast. It can’t be measured in miles!” Mu Lingyan formed a Sword Technique hand seal, gathering her power once more.

”Second Miss, let’s not fight with words. Let the facts speak for themselves.” Lu Yuan smiled.

Mu Lingyan unleashed her full power. The Water Essence surged, and the water vapor threatened to engulf half the street. The onlookers felt their mouths go dry.

”Faint Smoke! Thunderous Waves Breaking the Mist!” Mu Lingyan slashed her sword out again fiercely. This time, she executed two moves in rapid succession. Nourishing the Sword Qi with Sword Intent, linking the Sword Momentum with Sword Qi, and driving the Sword Technique with Sword Momentum—its might was tremendous. This surpassed the scope of ordinary Seventh Grade martial artists; only someone at the Seventh Grade Peak could possibly deliver such a strike. To begin comprehending Sword Momentum at the Seventh Grade, only a Second-Grade Marquis’s Mansion had the resources and audacity for it.

SWISH SWISH SWISH!

Dozens, no, hundreds of streams of Sword Qi slashed toward Lu Yuan, pressing down like an ocean of blades.

WHOOSH!

Lu Yuan flicked the Wind Thunder Saber in his hand, drawing back most of the power of thunder and lightning he had previously unleashed and wrapping it around the blade. He poured in his True Essence once again.

CRACKLE CRACKLE!

The ferocious lightning coiled into a silver dragon that encircled Lu Yuan. It looked fierce, majestic, ruthless, and imposing, exuding unparalleled dominance. This was a move Lu Yuan had comprehended on his own after practicing the Cyan Dragon Technique. With the Thunder Control Divine Technique, achieving this was incredibly easy.

Facing the incoming Sword Qi, Lu Yuan simply uttered one word: ”Go!”

The silver dragon expanded and violently whipped against the streams of Sword Qi.

BOOM BOOM!

Countless flashes of lightning erupted. The Sword Qi was shattered to pieces, utterly unable to get even an inch closer.

Meanwhile, the main force of the dragon’s head lunged at Mu Lingyan. Its camel-like head, deer-like antlers, and ox-like ears... it was incredibly lifelike.

Mu Lingyan felt the pressure, but there was no time to think. Her sword had already collided with it, engaging in a fierce clash.

BANG BANG BANG!

CRACKLE CRACKLE CRACKLE!

Aside from its piercing electric shock, lightning’s greatest strength was its explosive power—an incredibly fierce and rigid force. Water, on the other hand, was inherently yielding. Yet Sword Qi required a sharp edge, so...

BOOM!

Mu Lingyan was blasted away, unable to hold her ground. Fortunately, her Protective Primordial Gang swept the lightning aside, allowing her to land safely.

”How can you manipulate the power of thunder and lightning so freely? No, that’s not right!” Mu Lingyan stared straight at Lu Yuan as she spoke.

At the Eighth Grade, one would utilize the friction of the Wind Thunder Saber’s own material to generate the power of thunder and lightning. At the Seventh Grade, one would use True Essence to activate the runes. But no matter which method, lightning remained a berserk force, not easily controlled. Yet Lu Yuan manipulated it with immense ease and familiarity. It didn’t seem like he was using a blade to control the lightning at all, but rather that he could control it however he wished by his own will.

”Beat me and I’ll tell you!” A flash of lightning crackled beneath Lu Yuan’s feet. He instantly bridged the ten-yard distance, appearing right in front of Mu Lingyan, and slashed his blade down once more. ”Thunderstorm!”

This time, the lightning was ten times greater than before. Even more ferocious and powerful, it completely engulfed Mu Lingyan. She hurriedly propped up a massive Primordial Gang Shield, defending with all her might. At the same time, she wanted to closely observe exactly how Lu Yuan activated and harnessed the power of thunder and lightning.

Water conducted electricity, but pure water’s conductivity was very weak, compounded by the insulation of the air and space between them. Because of this, Lu Yuan’s Thunderstorm failed to blast her open right away.

”Thunderstorm!” Lu Yuan swung his blade again. This time, he not only activated the runes but also re-condensed the power of thunder and lightning from just moments ago. The power multiplied.

Mu Lingyan’s expression finally changed. Danger!

CRASH!

The mighty power of thunder and lightning, coupled with terrifying explosive force, instantly shattered Mu Lingyan’s defenses.

SWISH!

Mu Lingyan darted out, her body smoking, and quickly retreated into the distance. ”Lu Yuan, we’re not done!”

”Second Miss, why are you running? Stay and let everyone admire you!” Lu Yuan shouted.

”Lu Yuan!” Mu Lingyan gritted her teeth, her voice piercing through miles of air.

”Lu Yuan won!”

”He defeated the Second Miss of Marquis Weiyuan’s Mansion...”

”He just popped out of nowhere. Lu Yuan... who is Lu Yuan? Which Lu family is he from? Or is he from some sect?”

”He’s wearing the Minor Banner uniform of the Demon Suppression Bureau!”

”Then he might be from one of those top-tier sects!”

The surroundings exploded in uproar as the crowd boiled over. The news would undoubtedly spread very soon.

”Brother Lu, you actually defeated Second Miss Mu! Amazing!” A Captain of the Imperial City Department ran over to greet him enthusiastically. ”My name is Zheng Yu. I’m from the Second Xun Ring Zheng family.”

Lu Yuan thought to himself, ”The Second Xun Ring Zheng family is a Fourth-Grade Noble Family!” His gaze shifted. ”A pleasure to meet you. Second Miss simply didn’t use her full strength.”

”Yes, probably. She must have.” Zheng Yu didn’t dare speak ill of Mu Lingyan either. ”But you don’t look very old. How old are you this year...”

”Sixteen.” Lu Yuan put away the Wind Thunder Saber.

”Sixteen!” Zheng Yu exclaimed. Sixteen years old, Seventh Grade, having mastered the Wind Thunder Saber, and defeating Second Miss Mu... He looked at Lu Yuan with even greater astonishment, followed by fervent eagerness. ”An absolute genius! Your future is limitless. Brother Lu, you’re in the Demon Suppression Bureau, and I’m in the Imperial City Department. We can collaborate more in the future.”

”Sure, sounds good.” Lu Yuan wouldn’t refuse. Multiple friends meant multiple paths, not to mention that the Imperial City Department controlled the capital’s vital areas, handled patrols and defenses, and had the most manpower. ”Let’s find a place to gather when we’re free. I have things to do today.”

”My apologies, I’ve held you up. Please, go right ahead!” Zheng Yu quickly cleared the area and watched Lu Yuan leave.

”Mr. Zheng, is there a prominent noble family with the surname Lu around here?” a subordinate came over and asked.

”Sixteen years old, Seventh Grade, knowing and defeating Second Miss Mu... do you think his family background matters?” Zheng Yu asked in return.

”It matters!” the subordinate answered affirmatively without hesitation. Could Marquis Weiyuan’s Mansion be compared to ordinary families?

Zheng Yu looked up at the sky. ”I feel that he is bound for greatness in the future. He will definitely become an expert above the Fifth Grade.”

”Above the Fifth Grade...” The subordinate was doubtful. Was it really that easy?

Meanwhile.

”Second Miss!” A maid hurried forward and draped a cloak over Mu Lingyan.

”Let’s go home!”

”Return to the mansion!”

The carriage sped toward Marquis Weiyuan’s Mansion.

”That detestable Lu Yuan! That detestable Lu Yuan! He actually... he actually...” Mu Lingyan gritted her teeth.

”Second Miss, should I find someone to teach him a lesson?” her new maid Zilan asked.

”No! Mind your own business!” Mu Lingyan immediately scolded her. Her previous maid, Cuihe, had been too full of her own ideas. Now... she couldn’t beat him, so she was supposed to get someone else to teach him a lesson? She, Mu Lingyan, couldn’t afford to lose such face! If word spread, she truly wouldn’t be able to stay in the Jade Capital.

Upon returning to Marquis Weiyuan’s Mansion, Mu Lingyan hurried to her room to wash up. However, her hair, which had been straightened by the electricity, was a bit difficult to manage. She spent a lot of time trying various methods, eventually cutting off a portion and braiding another part into tiny, fragmented braids that she pinned up. Her entire style underwent a sudden transformation. Looking in the mirror again, she was finally satisfied.

Mu Lingyan went out for a walk and saw her younger brother, Mu Lingche, training desperately at home. ”You didn’t go to work at the Demon Suppression Bureau today?”

”Lingyan...” Mu Lingche stopped, looking at her with an incredibly complicated expression. ”Did you know? Lu Yuan broke through to the Seventh Grade!”

How could Mu Lingyan not know? She had just fought him earlier.

”Huh? Lingyan...” Mu Lingche discovered something new. ”Why did you change your hairstyle?”

Mu Lingyan felt like tearing her hair out. Wasn’t it all because of Lu Yuan?!
