Invincible from Seeing the BOSS's Health Bar

Chapter 99: Chapter 99: Life is Not Easy (3 updates)

Qingshui District, Building 1, Room 1905.

”One, ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand!!!”

”Thirty thousand! Thirty thousand! Thirty thousand!!”

Fang Yu was so excited that he almost danced with joy.

Ever since his last attempt at earning money in the game had failed, he had never fought such a lucrative battle.

Thirty thousand yuan! Thirty thousand yuan!

He opened his WeChat contacts and, with a grand gesture, transferred the money.

Six thousand and more yuan went straight into his landlord Qi Xiaojin’s account with the sound of a swoosh.

Message.

”Sister Jin, the rent is paid!”

He had cleared over five months of overdue rent in one go.

Even though he owed money, Sister Jin would at most come over and talk about it, she never actually kicked anyone out.

But if Sister Jin was in a bad mood, she would cut off the water and electricity in minutes.

There had been a precedent.

Before, when Fang Yu had a major failure in earning money in a previous game, he had owed ten months’ rent.

Sister Jin came over to knock on the door to collect the rent, and he was in a bad mood and argued with her.

He didn’t know what had gotten into him at that time.

All Sister Jin said was something like, ”You hole up in here like a dog, it would be better to go out and work.”

But at that time, he was being worthless. Depressed, sensitive, a failure in life, he felt like everything others said was a mockery, and he yelled at her a few times.

As a result, his water and electricity were cut off for a few days. When Fang Yu came to his senses, he was still anxiously thinking that Sister Jin might drive him out.

Unexpectedly, on either the fifth or sixth day when he went downstairs, he saw Sister Jin, and she even greeted him first.

During their conversation, she did not mention the fight at all. Sister Jin had forgotten about that trivial matter long ago; she simply forgot to reconnect Fang Yu’s room to the water and electricity as well.

That evening, Sister Jin turned the water and electricity back on in Fang Yu’s room.

This made Fang Yu extremely grateful to her.

Although during his time living there, he didn’t have much contact with Sister Jin, he always felt in his heart that she was a good person, a very generous person.

Now that he had made some money, he definitely couldn’t keep falling behind on the rent.

”The first step to turning my life around: pay the rent on time every month!”

Sister Jin didn’t seem to know what she was doing, and looked like she hadn’t seen the message. Fang Yu didn’t care.

He rubbed his hands together, feeling excited.

”I finally made some money!”

”This direction is absolutely right! This game will definitely be a major turning point!”

”Earn big money, find a girlfriend, buy a car, buy a house, climb to the peak of life!”

Fang Yu was filled with confidence, feeling like he was sprinting on the right path.

Subconsciously, he opened the food delivery app.

Then he realized that wasn’t right.

”I made big money, not eating a big meal would be a disservice to myself. But why am I ordering takeout?”

Go downstairs, buy groceries!

I’ll cook for myself today!

Anyway, the demon meeting in the game isn’t until noon, there’s still plenty of time.

Taking the trash out as he leaves.

He looks down, and is instantly stunned.

Uncle Zhou’s family has already set up the white mourning tent.

The canopy is pulled up, the Taoist is invited, and the site is arranged.

Outside the neighborhood, some luxury cars are parked, probably Uncle Zhou’s relatives and friends who heard the news and rushed back from other places.

Strangely, there’s been no movement from next-door Uncle Wang’s house.

Uncle Zhou’s body was sent for cremation just these past few days.

Thankfully, he had made some money. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to contribute even the smallest amount to the condolence money.

He went down and greeted Uncle Zhou’s family, asking about the progress of the case.

They just said that Uncle Zhou’s son-in-law was still being held at the police station.

He asked about the situation next door with Uncle Wang.

But to his surprise, he discovered that Uncle Wang’s family had actually moved out!

However, the day of the funeral procession was agreed upon by both families, so they would still be able to see Uncle Wang and his family that day.

After finding out the exact time and offering a few words of comfort, Fang Yu went out to buy groceries.

As he walked out of the Qingshui District’s gate, Fang Yu noticed that the security guard had been replaced?

He found it pretty odd but didn’t give it much more thought.

After some shopping and spending several hundred, Fang Yu was satisfied carrying big and small bags back home.

Previously, he had stocked up on food in preparation for gaming, and there was still some left.

But that was all emergency food—cans, instant noodles, compressed biscuits, and such.

None were like these fresh ingredients.

Now that he was making money, his quality of life needed to improve.

Vegetables, pork, etc., brought home to cook for himself, to replenish nutrients!

After closing his apartment door and putting all the items away,

Fang Yu pulled out the twenty thousand yuan he had just withdrawn from the ATM.

He divided it into two stacks and arranged them neatly.

Then he searched through his cupboard, finding the red envelope Uncle Zhou had given him for the Chinese New Year last year.

The money inside the envelope wasn’t much, but for Fang Yu, who was deeply in debt at the time, it was almost like a lifesaver.

Yet, before he could make his fortune and repay Uncle Zhou, the man suddenly leapt from a building to his death.

Life is so unpredictable.

Fang Yu sighed inwardly.

He opened the empty red envelope and stuffed in ten thousand yuan, then placed it neatly aside.

Next to Uncle Zhou’s red envelope, there were two small ones.

One was from Sister Jin.

She’d given a little red envelope to every tenant over the Chinese New Year.

Neither too much nor too little, just fifty yuan, as a token.

But with so many tenants, it added up to quite a sum, yet Sister Jin didn’t hesitate to give.

So even though Sister Jin often spoke loudly and sometimes unpleasantly, most tenants actually liked her quite a bit.

The other small red envelope was from Uncle Wang.

Fang Yu didn’t really have a close relationship with Uncle Wang, but Uncle Wang and Uncle Zhou were tight, so Fang Yu’s red envelope was like a spillover from that friendship.

Although Uncle Wang had just meant it as a token, to Fang Yu back then, finding a yuan on the street could fill him with excitement, let alone a little red envelope.

Now that Uncle Zhou and Uncle Wang had departed one after the other, the gifted money wasn’t distinguished by size, but given uniformly.

He also found a slightly larger, old, empty red envelope, in which he stuffed the remaining ten thousand.

Both gifts were ready, and Fang Yu started to cook.

Soon, a delicious fragrance wafted through the air.

Even he couldn’t help but get excited.

Eating instant noodles every day, who wouldn’t be thrilled with a feast all of a sudden?

Braised pork, stir-fried pork with green peppers, and plain stir-fried mushrooms with vegetables.

Two meat dishes and one vegetarian, all ready on the table, Fang Yu filled a bowl with rice and was about to dig in.

Knock knock knock.

At that moment, someone knocked on the door.

”Who is it?”

Fang Yu called out, with no intention of getting up, let alone opening the door.

But immediately after, he heard Sister Jin’s voice from outside.

”It’s me.”

Fang Yu hurriedly put down his bowl and stood up to open the door.

”Sister Jin, what brings you here?”

Today, Sister Jin was wearing a very simple dress, far removed from her usual extravagant style, giving her a pure and endearing look.

”I sent you a message, but you didn’t respond, so I came to check on you.”

A message? What message?

He was cooking just now and hadn’t checked his phone.

Sister Jin made herself at home easily, not waiting for Fang Yu to react and just pushing the door open to enter.

Once inside, Sister Jin looked around, her expression complex and peculiar.

As if she was reminiscing about something from the past, a sweet smile slowly spread across her face.

This really shocked Fang Yu.

Had Sister Jin gone mad? When had he ever seen her with such an expression??

Thank goodness the room wasn’t big; Sister Jin had finished her round and had even sniffed the strange smell in the room before sitting down at the dining table.

This made Fang Yu quite embarrassed. Busy with games, he had barely cleaned the room, and it did smell a bit foul...

”What are you spacing out for? Come and eat.”
