Chapter 70: Chapter 70 I Really Should Die (2 more)

Sister Two fell into silence once again.

Fang Yu didn’t think much of it and finished the remaining food. He picked up his bundle and was ready to return to his room when suddenly he heard Sister Two’s somewhat aloof voice from behind.

”Diao Deyi!”

”Ah?”

Fang Yu turned around and saw Sister Two, in the candlelight, with her right hand clutching her left shoulder, tilting her head to the side, staring at the ground, her body trembling slightly.

”Tomorrow... it’s the day the Foolish Underworld is going to help you remove the Demon Curse.”

”Mm, what’s the matter?”

Fang Yu’s relaxed tone seemed to stir some emotion in Sister Two.

She was a bit angry but more overwhelmed with a mix of feelings, and she spoke.

”If... if you’re not sure about it, you should leave Tianyuan Town tonight.”

”I... won’t expose you.”

Fang Yu was startled inside, but kept a calm exterior.

”Sister Two, you’re getting suspicious again. I really am Diao Deyi! You’ll see tomorrow.”

Should I... really run away? I’ve built up this character so much that I’m really reluctant to go die in the Foolish Underworld.

”Ha...”

Sister Two let out a sigh of relief and gave a dry laugh: ”Right, I’m just being paranoid again... Don’t worry, go get some rest.”

”...”

Fang Yu paused for a moment, and after some thought, said: ”Sister Two, even after tomorrow, Diao Deyi will still be Diao Deyi, and Sister Two will still be Sister Two, nothing will change.”

After saying that, Fang Yu entered the room with his bundle.

As the door closed, Sister Two stood there in a daze. After a long while, she finally began moving again, silently clearing up the bowls and chopsticks.

Drip-drop.

Tears suddenly fell onto the plate.

Sister Two didn’t pay them any attention, letting the tears keep falling one by one.

She no longer knew what was real and what was fake.

But tomorrow, the truth will come to light.

...

Back in his room, Fang Yu started feeling troubled.

To run away or not to run away?

If he ran away, all the resources he had accumulated in the Foolish Underworld would go to waste.

One moment he could be learning martial arts at the dojo, and the next, he could be choosing a lucky demon to farm for Experience Points.

At worst, in the dead of night, he could still absorb life force from passersby.

All these benefits, once he left Tianyuan Town, could become hard to come by again.

Moreover, Fang Yu really didn’t know what the situation outside Tianyuan Town was like.

If it’s a place where demons roam freely, that would be suicidal.

After all, when demons enter human territory, they still need to lie low and hunt stealthily; out in the wild, they would have no such concerns.

Without the protection of the authorities, demons could freely slaughter passersby without anyone caring.

”I can’t leave!”

”Then I must face the Foolish Underworld.”

”Thinking about it, I really am a human!”

”The Demon Curse or whatever, it’s actually my skill.”

”These people from the Foolish Underworld can’t just label me a demon because they’ve never seen such an amazing skill...”

Fang Yu felt his chances of getting through were quite good.

But now that he had acquired Yue Guang’s Demon Bloodline, he wasn’t sure what the situation would be like...

After some thought, Fang Yu realized that the biggest issue was to first find out what methods the Foolish Underworld used for their checks.

Next, was to patch up the hole on his body, as showing up to the Foolish Underworld in this state would be the same as advertising himself as a demon.

”Prepare for the worst, let’s cash out the money on me first...”

Fang Yu still couldn’t stop thinking about not having exchanged money with other players at the money exchange.

He thought for a moment, then made his character sleep and decisively quit the game.

In reality, he opened his eyes.

Putting down the helmet, Fang Yu rushed to his computer.

He turned on the forum and searched for keywords.

Posts about the Foolish Underworld started popping up.

Fang Yu skimmed through and found that most were seeking advice on how to join the Foolish Underworld.

As for hoping to find any detection methods for the Foolish Underworld on the forum, that was just wishful thinking.

He then searched for information on the wilderness.

It seems that although players are born in different towns, they all receive the same advice: do not wander outside carelessly.

One of the record posts was particularly interesting.

”Day 1 of Wilderness Survival Challenge.”

And then there was no more.

The death was clean and quick, he didn’t even see what killed him.

Moreover, people have figured out the penalties for death.

The first death results in being unable to log in to the game for half an hour, and upon re-logging after half an hour, everything starts over without inheriting anything.

The second death is 1 hour, the third is 2 hours, the fourth is 4 hours, and so on.

The interval for re-entering the game after death doubles each time.

And for now, there’s no talk of this revival interval resetting.

On the forum, people argued that this setting is unreasonable.

”If someone dies 100 times, can they still enter the game? The game helmet is completely bound to the individual, there’s no way to change accounts.”

”So, there must be a hidden upper limit for the death revival cooldown inside the system, at least no one has triggered it yet.”

”It’s not necessarily a CD cap, maybe there’s an automated monthly reset for the death revival cooldown penalty?”

Discussions among players were in full swing, making it the hottest topic on the forum right now, but there was no sign of any official involvement.

Fang Yu hasn’t died yet, nor does he plan to let his character die easily.

So, he actually doesn’t care much about this issue.

However, after browsing the forum for a while, he learned why the death CD topic suddenly became so hot.

Turns out, in another post, a wealthy player made a flamboyant post.

The title was straightforward.

”Killing grants experience. Hiring 1000 people, convene in Mountain and Sea Town, line up with your necks clean for me to slay, 10,000 bucks per person.”

Such extravagance!

Full of dominance!

Fang Yu was stunned.

Can you really play the game like this??

The world of the rich, truly incomprehensible.

people, that’s 10 million, this this this, this is too ruthless.

If it weren’t for Fang Yu currently having some Silver on hand, able to exchange it for several tens of thousands, and his character already developing normally,

Otherwise, he definitely would have been tempted by such a deal.

”If tomorrow I can’t get past the Foolish Underworld, and my character kicks the bucket. After the reincarnation from the filthy earth, I’ll run straight to Mountain and Sea Town and have that tycoon cut me down.”

”By the way... where is Mountain and Sea Town?”

Exactly like Fang Yu’s perplexity, most of the replies below were asking the same question.

No one knows where the tycoon got it from, but he actually updated the post with a small map, marking the area around Mountain and Sea Town.

Fang Yu glanced over it and didn’t recognize a single place name.

That meant he was far from Mountain and Sea Town.

But under the post, there were people already actively responding.

The number representing the participants on the tycoon’s end kept updating in real-time.

Fang Yu checked and saw that 53 people had been gathered so far.

Although it was still far from 1000 people, the popularity of the wealthy player’s post kept soaring, so the number kept changing and slowly increasing.

”Feels like... in a couple of days, there’s really a chance to witness Brother Shen Hao’s godly moves?”

Fang Yu quietly noted down Brother Shen Hao’s name—[Reins Cangyue].

Lei Shenhao, waiting for your impressive play.

Honestly, Fang Yu’s interest was piqued; this was too entertaining.

”Damn it!”

Slap!

Fang Yu suddenly slapped his thigh.

”What am I here for? I got so distracted looking for information on the Foolish Underworld, I really should be dead!”
