Invincible from Seeing the BOSS's Health Bar

Chapter 83: Chapter 83 Three Mansions (1 update)

If it were just Yue Guang’s demons with several hundred to a thousand blood, they would not be enough to cause a stir in Tianyuan Town.

After all, just from what we can see now, the power of the fools from the Underworld in charge of ten or a hundred households is more than enough to eradicate them.

Not to mention the true forces lurking beneath the surface, there are still many more.

Without the strength to confront the Foolish Underworld, where would these demons get the courage to organize gatherings and cause trouble?

Thinking this way, the plan to go undercover tomorrow seems even more dangerous, right?

For a moment, Fang Yu was somewhat dazed.

The Foolish Underworld wants me to go undercover as a demon.

The demons believe I’m a human spy planted by Shuang Xuyao.

Well, aren’t they afraid that I’ll switch sides repeatedly?

”Come, I’ll take you to get your Identity Token, and you can also change out of these clothes.”

”Starting today, you are in charge of a household in the Foolish Underworld, theoretically, you can select up to ten people as subordinates, at your command.”

”However, you don’t have any merits right now, and you will need merits to invite others to join your small team.”

”If someone uses their personal merits to join your team, that’s another matter.”

”You just became in charge of a household, don’t dream of such good fortune.”

Fang Yu thought to himself, he wasn’t even expecting that; it was all said by you.

Lord Li Baizhen is actually quite a decent person.

Once he starts talking, he tends to go on without stopping.

Through his explanation, Fang Yu also briefly understood the status of someone in charge of a household in the Foolish Underworld.

Members of the Foolish Underworld are grouped in tens, forming a household.

A hundred people form a hundred households.

A thousand people, a Thousand Households.

Thousand Households is the maximum limit.

Lord Li Baizhen did not mention the strength of a Thousand Households, so Fang Yu did not ask.

The Foolish Underworld is considered a fully operational group, following the orders from above and executing them.

Because it’s close to the grassroots level of the populace, it seems to wield a not insignificant amount of power.

In reality, they are only intimidating to the commoners. When facing members of major families, anyone with career considerations will act cautiously.

Moreover, even as members of the Foolish Underworld, they cannot kill recklessly.

Everything is based on merit.

New members of the Foolish Underworld have 1 merit point.

If they encounter someone outside who is suspected to be a demon and they kill that person directly,

Should they judge wrongly and kill an innocent, merit points will be deducted based on the victim’s identity, the extent of family forgiveness, societal impact, compensation payments, and other such concerns.

If the merits fall into the negative, they will be permanently expelled from their position, and will not be able to join the Foolish Underworld in any capacity again in their lifetime, which will also adversely affect other public service positions.

In severe cases, such as deliberate killing out of malice, abusing public office for private gain, or if they’re unstable and inclined toward indiscriminate killing, they will be thrown into prison or even beheaded.

Conversely, if they successfully identify and kill a demon, their merit remains unchanged, but they may receive merit rewards based on their actual contribution to killing the demon afterwards.

Accumulating merits to a certain extent, by expending all merits, one can apply to the Foolish Underworld to be promoted to a household position; if the strength is up to standard and they pass the assessment, they will officially become in charge of a household.

Promotions follow a similar process.

Merit is the only standard.

As for how to judge the situation of the killer, most of the post-incident investigation is the task of the Pan Sheng Mansion responsible for logistics; when finally concluding the case, members of the Foolish Underworld are also involved in the review to jointly determine culpability and merits.

”If you don’t have any subordinates, there won’t be so many troubles.”

”If your team is at full capacity, that’s ten team members. Whatever issue arises, after the Pan Sheng Mansion investigates it, you’ll have to personally review it and make an assessment.”

Life is at stake, so it’s not an autocracy. When discrepancies arise, the matter will be escalated, requiring someone in a higher position for a final decision.

Merits, in addition to ensuring promotion and securing a safe number of kills, can also be used in the Underworld’s Martial Hall to exchange for Martial Arts training and learning, or even to request personal guidance from the high-level experts within the Underworld.

In short, there are many benefits.

However, the difficulty of obtaining them is also significant. Carrying out ordinary tasks like routine patrols, you wouldn’t be able to accumulate many points in a year.

Only by making significant contributions, such as slaying demons for the Underworld, can one accumulate merits quickly.

”Demons are skilled at hiding, and they are ferocious in strength; ordinary martial artists stand no chance against them in solo combat.”

”Thus, team cooperation is essential.”

”But when kills are divided among the team, the shared merit rewards naturally dwindle, so it’s truly hard to acquire merits.”

Fang Yu, upon hearing this, felt there was great potential.

Others might have difficulty finding demons, but would he?

Others might not be able to slay demons alone, but he...

Well, he couldn’t take down powerful demons on his own either, but the weak ones, he could slay by himself!

Fang Yu felt that obtaining merits shouldn’t be difficult for him.

This was a life-saving charm, after all. Just find one with a lot of blood and go up with a slash.

While taking in the blood, he could also shout out loud.

”I, Diao Deyi, a nice guy with a sword!”

”Who agrees?”

”Who opposes?”

Must do it, must do it! The more merits, the merrier!

Who needs to be a Hundred Households or a Thousand Households? No need to promote! Just keep hanging out at the rank of Ten Households, dead set on farming merits and racking up the kill count!

Fang Yu instantly had a vague plan for his future in the Underworld.

”The Underworld is roughly like this, mainly responsible for slaying demons. When there are no demons, it’s in charge of patrolling, chasing down felons, or investigating violent crimes and such for public security.”

”These kinds of tasks provide a slow accumulation of merits, but it’s a stable approach.”

”The mission you are about to undertake now is directly assigned from above. You are to infiltrate the demons’ lair and provide intelligence for the Underworld.”

”The task itself is extremely dangerous, and, depending on the value of the intelligence, the feedback in terms of merit points won’t be low.”

”Work hard, and perhaps in one or two years, you’ll stand at the same level as me.”

No need!

I just want the heads!

Li Baizhen had no idea what Fang Yu was thinking, thinking he had introduced enough about the Underworld, he casually mentioned the other two Mansions.

”Besides the Underworld, there are [Pan Sheng Mansion] and [Research Demon Mansion].”

”[Pan Sheng Mansion], you probably won’t see them often in daily life because they don’t have exclusive uniforms, and they stay out of the public eye. They need to blend into crowds, conduct secret investigations and observations. The more confidential their identity, the easier it is for them to operate—these are our intelligence department, so to speak.”

”[Research Demon Mansion], no need to elaborate much, specializes in researching demons. Anything related to demons, they’re the correct ones to find.”

”Anything else you need to know... oh, we three Mansions all belong to [Three Divisions Hall]. Think of it as the department above us.”

”However, we generally don’t get to meet these big shots, so you don’t need to think too much about it.”

”As for the other divisions... you should know about those large families in Tianyuan Town outside, right?”

Li Baizhen did not elaborate further, seemingly saying everything without speaking.

Fang Yu found it odd and asked, ”Lord Li Baizhen, aren’t you also a member of a large family?”

Judging by the reaction of the Elemental Martial Hall, the Li Family seemed to have a substantial influence in Tianyuan Town. Could it be that they didn’t fit the definition of a ’large family’?

As Fang Yu pondered, Li Baizhen scoffed.

”Me? The Li Family? Humph! They have long since fallen... Forget it, better not to mention it.”

”Let’s go, the storeroom is just ahead. I’ll take you to collect your uniform and register your identity.”
