At the same time, Yue Guang had already slain three people.

[Yue Guang: 588/588.]

Just as expected...

A chill rose from Fang Yu’s heart.

This demon is different!

It can actually steal players’ maximum health points and convert them to its own!

A growth-type demon??

A player-special-agent-type BOSS?

The more Fang Yu pondered, the more he felt something was off.

Suddenly, he felt someone watching him.

He looked up and met Yue Guang’s gaze.

Their eyes locked.

A slow smile appeared on Yue Guang’s lips, vaguely suggesting something.

His heart skipped a beat.

Fang Yu turned and left, blending into the crowd.

But the gaze behind him stuck like a chronic abscess, firmly locking on.

It wasn’t until he was far from the vegetable market that the feeling ceased.

Fang Yu gasped for air.

Something was off. Yue Guang’s look was like a hunter locking onto its prey!

Could it be... he knows who the players are?!

A demon that specifically hunts players, and so early in the game? This joke had gone too far.

At this moment, Fang Yu felt an inexplicable panic.

He looked back twice more to ensure no one was following before he hurried off.

Tianyuan Town was expansive, with four or five large vegetable markets.

And the smaller ones, like those with street stalls, were even more numerous.

Street goods, though without any guarantee, triumph in cheapness and negotiability.

With some luck, one could even find some wild goods or stumble upon a bargain.

However, Fang Yu’s shopping was just ordinary, buying meat and vegetables.

His mind was still on the decapitations at the earlier market.

Yue Guang was like a boulder pressing on his heart, giving him an incomprehensible sense of urgency.

”Is there a limit to Yue Guang’s health growth?”

”He’s only at 500-odd health points now, but if I let it be, how gargantuan would his health be the next time we meet?”

”Of course, I’m powerless to intervene. But that guy seems to know I exist...”

Fang Yu suddenly snapped out of his thoughts, halting in his tracks.

As if sensing something.

He abruptly turned around to look back.

There weren’t many people on the street.

It was near Sweet Flower Lane in the slums.

Hence, most of the people on the street were of poor constitution.

[Bu Jingshan: 25/25.]

[Bao Qiuchun: 6/6.]

[Ban Lekang: 8/8.]

[Lai Wenhan: 7/7.]

[Zhi Wenshan: 31/31.]

[...]

Among these pedestrians with health points all in single digits, two people’s health bars stood out conspicuously.

They were a man and a woman.

The man named Zhi Wenshan, hesitated in front of a stall selling stationery, but his peripheral gaze was fixated in Fang Yu’s direction.

The woman named Bu Jingshan stood in front of a stall selling long dresses, touching fabrics, camouflaged within the crowd shopping for clothes, more concealed.

Fang Yu pretended not to notice.

He turned around and continued towards the direction of Sweet Flower Lane.

Carrying large and small bags, his pace was not slow.

As Fang Yu started moving, the two people from behind immediately left their stalls and followed at a distance.

Their trailing skills were nothing extraordinary, but against someone like Fang Yu, they were more than sufficient.

The only issue was that their substantially high health points of twenty to thirty gave them away.

At first, both sides were moving intermittently, pulling away and closing in on each other.

Unbeknownst to them, Zhi Wenshan and Bu Jingshan began to lose sync in distance, yet still within sight.

At this moment, as if the timing was ripe, Fang Yu seized the opportunity, suddenly changing direction.

Stepping briskly from the main road into a side alley.

In a matter of seconds, even his figure was nearly out of sight.

The one closest to Fang Yu was Bu Jingshan.

Panic struck her heart, and without waiting for her companions, she hastily followed after him.

The unregulated poor district is characterized by its disorderly buildings and winding roads.

Major roads connect to minor ones, minor roads intertwine with alleys, and alleys lead back to main roads.

As accessible as they are complex, only the locals of this area could navigate them clearly.

Losing sight of Fang Yu would make finding him again extremely difficult.

Feeling a sense of urgency, Bu Jingshan quickened her pace, fixated on the silhouette of Fang Yu.

Not knowing if the target was doing it on purpose or not, after following him around several corners, Bu Jingshan was completely disoriented; she no longer knew her own location but still had the shadow of the target ahead within view.

At least the mission hadn’t failed.

Just as she thought this, the target suddenly sped up, turned at a small alley ahead, and disappeared from view.

Bu Jingshan’s heart raced, she jogged quickly towards the corner of the alley...

A dark figure suddenly and fiercely smashed towards her face!

This sudden and swift attack, perfectly targeting her blind spot as she turned the corner, left her no time to react.

She only felt a burst of rapid punches flying towards her...

The next instant.

An overwhelming strange force exploded directly in her face.

Bang!!

Her right eye instantly lost vision, her nose bridge was askew, her facial bones indented, and acute pain shot straight into her brain.

-17!!

Her body was lifted off the ground by the impact of the strange force, her toes leaving the surface, as she staggered backward.

A sharp pain in her back as she slammed hard against the wall!

-1!

She fell from the wall, half-kneeling on the ground, vision in her right eye lost, and only a blurred sight left in her remaining left eye—everything beyond half a meter was pitch black.

Nosebleed and blood spewing from her mouth sprinkled on the ground, yet it did not prevent her from unsheathing her sword and slashing around like a madwoman.

”Ah ah ah ah!! Come on!!”

Her sword danced vigorously but did not strike anyone.

But she dared not stop, she could only swing her sword! Swing! And swing again! Preventing anyone from getting close!

It seemed like if she slowed down for even a second, she would be immediately killed.

That fear of death made it impossible for her to stop her movements.

In the quiet environment, aside from her sword swings, only the sound of her heavy breathing remained.

No!

Wait!

There was another sound!

This sound was... chewing?

Someone was eating! Right in front of me, nearby, beyond my field of vision!

Her right eye had lost sight, and her injured left eye had a limited visual range.

But her hearing was still sharp!

Over... there!!

Bu Jingshan suddenly thrust her sword out! Charging forward!

”Die!!”

Bu Jingshan shouted fiercely, but she stabbed only air.

The moment she realized the enemy had evaded her attack, her heart sank.

The next instant...

Bang!!

The familiar strange force once again smashed her forehead.

-4!

But this time, the power wasn’t as fearsome, merely knocking her to the ground.

As if showing mercy.

The strong instinct to survive made Bu Jingshan instantly understand this.

”Spare me...”

Bang!

The enemy’s next punch had already hit her face.

-4!

[Bu Jingshan: 0/25.]

Her health bar depleted, Bu Jingshan became a corpse.

[System Notification: Congratulations to the player for killing [Bu Jingshan], gaining 10 Experience Points.]

Fang Yu clenched his bloodied fist, breathing heavily.

After looking around to confirm there was no one else, he quickly left the scene.

Ten minutes later, Zhi Wenshan found his companion in the maze-like alleys.

But what he discovered was only the mutilated corpse of Bu Jingshan, her face a bloody mess.
