Chapter 25: Chapter 25 Attitude Changes (4 updates)

”What are you doing?”

Shi Zhongmei widened her eyes.

Fang Yu slowly retracted his stance and responded sternly.

”I, have started learning.”

”Just because you’ve started doesn’t mean you have to smash the table, does it?”

Huh?

Fang Yu pointed at himself.

”Senior Mei, I’ve entered the Martial Arts gate!”

”I’m not deaf, I’m asking why you smashed the table!”

Isn’t it, are tables that important? I’ve just stepped into the Martial Arts!

I’ve fought battles at the South Heavenly Gate fiercely, and you’re asking if my eyes are dry?

”Do you know how much this table cost?”

But as soon as Shi Zhongmei said this, Fang Yu instantly woke up.

It felt like he was just leisurely in a supreme Martial Arts realm, and the next second someone asked him if he bought a house or a car.

Reality.

Damn, reality hits hard.

Fang Yu’s momentum instantly dissipated.

Is this table really expensive...

”How, how much?”

”10 Silver Taels.”

Damn!

Fang Yu threw up his hands.

”Just deduct it from my meatballs!”

Now, in Fang Yu’s eyes, meal supplement meatballs seemed like a printing press, all-powerful!

Taking three months of advance meatballs from Senior Mei, with 90 Silver Taels worth for three months, minus the 60 used, there’s still 30 Silver Taels worth, it should be enough as compensation.

No big deal.

But the next moment, he heard Shi Zhongmei say something terrifying.

”Meatballs can’t be exchanged for Silver Taels.”

”...What do you mean?”

”Literally. I’m also broke.”

Fang Yu: ??

So these meatballs, they don’t support cashing out??

They only hold the value of 1 Silver when exchanged for medicinal soup??

It seems Shi Zhongmei added, fearing Fang Yu wouldn’t understand.

”Moreover, buying meatballs with cash isn’t the same price. For one month’s worth of meatballs, I can only give you 100 Wen. But this time, no advanced credit.”

Meaning next month’s meal fees need to be paid in advance.

But...

100 Wen?

That’s a massive devaluation, damn!

I pay 2 Silver Taels for meals, sell you the most important meatballs, but only get 100 Wen, am I crazy??

What a ruthless deal!

”What about the remaining 30 Silver Taels you mentioned earlier...”

Fang Yu clung to his last hope, cautiously speaking.

Shi Zhongmei, however, shook her head.

”There are no 30 Silver Taels. We only have the medicinal soup, and a purchase price of 100 Wen.”

”Then... what about this table??”

”You figure it out yourself. Our deal is limited to six bowls of medicinal soup in exchange for two months’ worth of your meatballs.”

Fang Yu was dumbfounded; what a situation.

He thought he discovered a loophole, a universal money printer.

Turns out the medicinal soup and meatballs both represent virtual value, nominally equivalent but essentially empty.

Fang Yu, feeling nervous and poor, narrowed her eyes and said.

And now they’re even threatening me??

Fang Yu felt incredibly frustrated.

He had everything planned out, cashing in the meatballs, getting rich, and reaching the pinnacle of life.

But he was forcefully brought back to reality.

And even inexplicably saddled with a huge debt of 10 Silver Taels for the table compensation.

This is not even enough to compensate for the 5 Silver Taels taken back from the Second Sister.

”About the broken table, and your entry into Martial Arts, I will report both matters to our master.”

After a pause, Shi Zhongmei looked at the remains of the table, her attitude softening.

”Also, that strike just now... the force was quite impressive.”

Entering Martial Arts and not entering Martial Arts are two completely different paths in life.

Some people, even if they enter a martial hall through backdoors, will always linger outside of Martial Arts due to lack of talent and other factors.

For such people, Shi Zhongmei scoffs and even feels it’s not worth the energy.

However, for those promising junior brothers and sisters, Shi Zhongmei doesn’t mind making some connections.

Although Yuan Body Martial Hall recruits fewer disciples compared to other halls, sometimes they inevitably incur reciprocal debts.

For instance, today, even a strong master like ours had to uncomplainingly accept someone recommended by the Li Family.

As for whether this person can cultivate effectively or not, the master actually does not care much, another bowl added, just supporting someone useless.

There are quite a few of such people in Yuan Body Martial Hall.

But if someone really has some aptitude and crosses the threshold into Martial Arts, they naturally receive a different treatment, treated equally with other disciples, no need to differentiate.

Shi Zhongmei estimated the amount of medicinal soup Fang Yu drank.

”Six bowls, plus the free one, seven bowls for entry. Not bad, the aptitude is passable.”

Anyway, Shi Zhongmei wouldn’t admit that entering with five bowls of soup meant inferior aptitude.

”From now on, you’re also considered an official disciple of our Yuan Body Martial Hall.”

”After I go to report to Master, you will also get a chance to pick a Martial Arts Secret Manual of the technique category for free, Master will tell you about it later.”

After saying this, Shi Zhongmei walked outside.

When reaching the doorway, she suddenly stopped.

She hesitated, seeming to feel guilty about cheating Fang Yu, and spoke.

”Diao Deyi, you may not understand how much the Yuanxin meatballs can help in everyday Martial Arts practice.”

”Just eating them for a day or two, you might not feel much.”

”But if you continue to consume them every day, you will find that your Martial Arts progression is faster than others of your age.”

”This is also one reason why our Yuan Body Martial Hall has grown strong to this day.”

”This is a unique reward from our martial hall.”

”I used to think you would barely manage to enter Martial Arts, after all, you started learning at this age, so I acted as I did...”

”And when we joined, it was the same process. Either pay money, or exchange future meatball quantities for medicinal soup.”

”This is the procedure every new disciple goes through, I’m not singling you out.”

”So don’t blame me for doing this, you’ve successfully entered Martial Arts threshold yourself, right?”

”As for the future, as I said, Yuanxin meatballs are very important for Martial Arts practice, you’d best reserve and consume them yourself, consider this a little advice from your senior sister.”

After finishing, without waiting for Fang Yu to speak, she left, leaving Fang Yu looking dejected next to the shattered table.

At this time, a young boy walked in.

”Junior Brother Diao? Senior Sister Mei sent me to take you to the Martial Arts Training Ground.”

Fang Yu looked up: ”...To do what at the Martial Arts Training Ground?”

”Hit the wooden stakes.”

”Hit the wooden stakes?”

”Yes.”

The young boy explained calmly.

”Our martial hall has a rule. Every new disciple has one chance to hit the wooden stakes.”

”There are scales from 1-10 on the stakes, and when a disciple hits the stake for the first time, the distance they strike determines the number of Silver Taels they receive as an award. 1 scale equals 1 Silver Tael, and so on.”

Having said this, the boy glanced at the shattered wood on the floor, somewhat understanding the situation.

”Senior Sister Mei said, if you really don’t have money, use this opportunity to try to hit the stake far enough to exchange for some Silver Taels to compensate the martial hall.”

”However, we generally recommend practicing martial arts for a few months before taking this challenge.”

Such a good deal?!

Fang Yu’s eyes suddenly lit up.

It was then he properly looked at this young boy.

[ Lin Wu: 32/32. ]

Hmph!

Such a waste with only 32 Health Points!

Fang Yu silently critiqued.

He glanced at his own stats above his head.

[ Diao Deyi: 22/22. ]

Fang Yu: ...

He revised his internal comment.

This Lin Wu, has some strength, comparable to me.

With a grand gesture, Fang Yu’s spirit soared.

”Senior brother, lead the way!”
