Epic Of Caterpillar

Chapter 2769 2770: The Warmth You Had Long Forgotten

-----

”Theyʼre weaving the three great fundamental essences, Soul, Life, and Fate, to create something. However, at this pace, it will take them hundreds of years to achieve it. Still, it doesnʼt seem like theyʼll be satisfied with just this.”

Noah looked in the direction of the moon, his eyes gleaming with red light.

”Clementine… your very existence is being used to weave this madness. Are you truly happy with this? Why would you ever agree to the request of that Outer God?”

Noah knew Clementine was more than strong enough to have rejected the Outer Godʼs influence.

Yet she accepted, embracing this new reality.

Perhaps this world wasnʼt all there was.

After all, the message at the beginning had stated something about this being the first level.

”Could there be another level where sheʼs living? Another world… But to find it, we must first find this worldʼs key. And Frank… does not have it.”

Noah had already inspected Frankʼs existence enough times to know every fiber of his being.

Indeed, Frank did not have the key!

”Someone else has it or… something else.”

But finding the key could also be their scheme. They might be practically asking him, Frank, and Kireina to unlock the dungeon even further and fuel it even more.

”But if I go toward that vortex and confront them, can I win?”

Noah, who was proud of his strength, doubted it.

”No, not on my own…”

To fight beings strong enough to weave an entire dimension into reality and manipulate the Fate of billions of people… he couldnʼt do it alone.

”Perhaps if I draw the power of this world, if I devour its gods and demons and everything else, if I extinguish all life and use it to nourish my existence… Perhaps I could attain more power, but even then, would it be enough?”

Noah pondered this.

No, it wasnʼt about whether it would be enough.

Even though he considered it, he would never go through with it.

After all…

”Hah, I see how it is…”

He felt disgusted with himself for even daring to think about such a horrible, heinous act.

After all, it would destroy all life in this world, the world where his precious family lived.

”So it is indeed some kind of manipulation. You create families for us, people we love and care for… so we donʼt dare destroy the world or all its life. Whoever is scheming this, they must be a truly disgusting, filthy being.”

Noah suddenly appeared on the rooftop of the school with a single step, melding into shadows that emerged there, looking at the setting sun.

”Abyss is among those very special worlds in the Multiverse that contain a Fragment of the Origin World, another reason why it is so coveted by the Outer Gods and other Interdimensional Factions.”

He thought some more, beginning to understand their grand scheme.

”Theyʼre not just using my world for this. There are multiple worlds being used as pillars, each one must be an Origin World Fragment…”

Noah could see through the flow of fate rising into the skies and how it divided into an endless spider web.

He could even discern these worlds and their names.

”Of course, theyʼre connected to her…”

One of these worlds was named Grand Terra.

Another was Genesis.

”Theyʼre using the Dimensions opened within Genesis by her… Sheʼs the greatest opposer of fate but also the one theyʼre using to weave existence toward their ultimate goal.”

He saw it.

The Spirit Plane.

The Dream Plane.

The Chaos Plane.

The Nether Plane.

And perhaps even Hell.

”Each one of these Planes was born from the destruction of the Origin World, as it shook all reality and divided it into separate planes that intermingle to create what we know as existence.”

Noah closed his eyes, smiling.

He couldnʼt help but praise the genius of those orchestrating this.

But at the same time, he wasnʼt completely sure if his speculation captured the full picture.

Surely, there was much more to it.

”What do I do…”

For the first time in his entire life, Noah, who always knew what to do and where to go…

Was in doubt.

He was...

Scared.

His hands trembled as he looked at them.

His furious eyes showed a clear hint of great sorrow.

”What do you want me to do, Clementine?”

He fell to his knees.

And…

Tears fell from his eyes.

Everything he had built, the perfect life he forged after so long, was coming apart.

His world was frozen, his people encased in ice for eternity.

His friends missing…

And now, only his wife and his two children were here.

But also…

A whole family he now loved.

Two lovely parents, a sister, uncles and aunts, grandparents!

And he didnʼt want to let go of them.

Because even after millions of years…

Noah was finally beginning to feel that sensation again.

The warmth of family.

Of being alive.

This new body forged for him was alive, not entirely a vampire.

His true self had merged with it, but it had also mostly become his soul.

In a way, his new body was a new life, a new beginning.

New, long-forgotten sensations and emotions were finally returning to him after living for millions of years as a cold-hearted vampire.

It was the same for his wife and his children.

They were happier here, despite the trials outside and despite what was at stake.

Should he kill all life?

Should he go and confront them alone and risk his life?

Should he escape this world and flee into space with his family, leaving behind his lost friends?

To Noah, there are three options right now.

And yet… he didnʼt want to do any of them, as pragmatic as he was.

”Naturally, the best solution would be to kill all life…”

And yet.

As he tried to summon his weapon and shatter this city apart, killing as many as he could easily…

He couldnʼt bear to do so.
