Reborn As Noble

Chapter 945: Tea with Truth ( 945 )

After breakfast, Javier found himself standing in front of his mother’s room, his palms sweaty, heart beating fast.

He swallowed hard, glancing over his shoulder at Liana and Gloria, who stood just behind him.

”Young master? Aren’t you going in?” Liana asked quietly.

”You two... you’ll stay with me, right?” Javier pleaded.

”Yes, young master. Don’t worry. Just go inside,” Gloria reassured him.

”Alright... just... don’t leave me, okay?”

”Yes, young master.”

But before Javier could even raise his hand to knock, the door swung open. Francesca appeared, smiling serenely as she took Javier by the wrist. Her gaze landed on Liana and Gloria.

”My, my... Liana, Gloria~?”

”Y-yes, my lady?” they answered, stiffening under her gentle tone.

”Go and meet with Erinnette.”

Liana and Gloria hesitated, exchanging nervous glances. But when Francesca’s smile brightened by a single, terrifying watt, they both shuddered.

”Go~ meet Erinnette right now. I’m sure she has something to say to you.”

”A-as you command, my lady!” The two bowed hurriedly and fled down the hall, not daring to look back.

Javier watched them flee, betrayal flickering in his thoughts.

Eekkk!! You both promised you wouldn’t leave my side!

”Y-yes, esteemed Mother?” Javier managed a sheepish smile, doing his best not to tremble as he averted his gaze.

”Come inside. And don’t even think about running.”

With a resigned sigh, Javier shuffled obediently into the room.

He settled onto a cushion, trying to steady his nerves as Francesca took her seat across from him with perfect grace. Erisa quietly served tea, setting a cup before each of them before stepping back to stand behind Francesca.

”Now, honey bun~” Francesca began, her voice soft and serene as she lifted her teacup.

”Since you’re so determined to know who the ancient power users are, Power of Destruction, Hand of Creation, I suppose I’ll tell you. Even though your father and I kept saying you don’t need to worry.”

Javier fell silent, eyes lowered, unable to meet her gaze.

Francesca smiled softly. ”From those old parchments, how many types of power users do you know?”

”T-two, esteemed Mother...” Javier murmured.

”Power of Destruction, and Hand of Creation. Right?”

”Yes... esteemed Mother.”

She set down her cup, her eyes locking on his. ”Now tell me, among everyone in the Armand family, who else can create anything he imagines, just with his hands and a bit of magic?”

Javier’s eyes widened. He looked up, realization flickering across his face.

”Does... does this mean...”

”Yes~” Francesca confirmed, her eyes twinkling. ”You are the Hand of Creation user, Javier. You can craft anything you imagine, from plans in your head or ideas you dream up. Look at what you’ve accomplished, the magic sugarcane machine, the puppet knights, mana relay towers, all of it. Do you really think even the genius dwarven blacksmith, Rasdingen, could craft any of it without you building the prototype first and showing him how?”

She picked up a small iron ore from the table and tossed it lightly to Javier. He caught it, almost by reflex.

”Now, melt it with your hand and make it float,” Francesca instructed, a knowing smile on her lips. ”You can do that easily, can’t you?”

Javier nodded. ”Yes, esteemed Mother... it’s easy for me.”

Francesca’s gaze remained gentle.

”As for the Power of Destruction, it’s the ability to fight on, even after you’ve exhausted your own mana, your magic, or all the natural mana around you. Right now, your Power of Destruction isn’t fully awakened. When you lose control, you only reach what we call the berserk state, where rage takes over and your mind slips away. But remember this, Javier De Armand.”

Her voice sharpened slightly.

”If you don’t learn to control yourself, the Power of Destruction can destroy not only your enemies, but you as well.”

Javier swallowed hard, eyes fixed on the floor.

So that’s what that was... That uncontrollable rage...if I’m not careful, it’ll burn everything, even me.

Francesca’s expression softened again.

”Now, my honey bun, you’ve only know three ancient powers mentioned in those parchments. But in truth, there are seven types.”

Javier’s head shot up in shock. ”S-seven?”

She smiled, sipping her tea. ”First, the Eyes of Truth. You know who holds that ability?”

He hesitated, then answered quietly, ”F... Father.”

”Correct.” Francesca’s smile deepened. ”You, Javier, are the bearer of the Power of Destruction and the Hand of Creation. But there are four others as well.”

She set her cup down and met his gaze.

”The Soul of Command. The one who holds this power can command the skills of the other users, can guide or even compel their abilities. Do you want to guess who wields that power, my honey bun~?”

Javier’s breath caught. He stared at her, searching her calm expression.

”Your father,” Francesca answered for him, voice gentle but sure. ”He bears that as well.”

”W-what?” Javier’s eyes widened. ”He has two unique gifts?”

Francesca nodded, her smile tinged with pride. ”Yes... just like you.”

Javier was stunned, by this sudden flood of information.

Francesca crossed her legs with elegant ease and smiled softly.

”There’s also the Power of Sanctum, another unique gift. Now, tell me, my honey bun, what’s the rarest class in this world? The one that only a single person possesses?”

”Ehhhh!? You mean... Cedric? Because he’s the only one with the unique class of a real Paladin!”

Francesca’s eyes sparkled with approval. ”My, my, honey bun, you really are a genius. That’s right.”

She continued, voice gentle but certain. ”Now, the Crown of Arcana... This power belongs to someone who can wield any kind of magic easily, launching the strongest spells with barely any mana. Can you guess who that is~?”

Javier gaped. ”Ehhhhhh!!? Marcellus!?”

Francesca nodded, looking truly pleased. ”Yes~ good guess~

Javier sat frozen, too stunned to speak for a moment.

Really?

So this is the reason they always told me not to worry about the users...?

Does that mean... everyone from Mother’s side, are the holders of these gifts?

Then he realized, his mother had only listed six powers.

”Esteemed Mother?” he ventured, hesitating.

Francesca smiled sweetly. ”Yes, honey bun?”

”You mentioned there are seven ancient powers... but you only told me about six.”

Francesca’s smile grew just a little more mysterious. ”You don’t need to worry about that, honey bun~ The only thing you need to remember is that every bearer of these gifts is from the Armand family.”

She sipped her tea, her eyes calm but sparkling with secrets, making it clear the conversation was over.
