Reborn As Noble

Chapter 942: Roses Turned Black ( 942 )

Meanwhile.

At the edge of the training ground, Francesca sat gracefully at her table, sipping her tea as she watched the spectacle unfold.

She smiled and turned to Erinnette, who stood quietly beside her. ”You know, Erinnette... I don’t think we really needed to summon the entire best unit for this.”

Erinnette offered a respectful bow and replied with a gentle smile, ”My lady, I’ve wondered the same. But if Lord Garius called not only every elite unit, but even their successors, and especially the next generation of elite units, it must be for the young master’s benefit.”

Francesca shook her head, her smile tinged with amusement as she glanced back at Garius. Despite his composed and serious face, she could see the subtle excitement in his eyes as he effortlessly blocked and parried every one of Javier’s rapid punches and kicks with a single hand.

”Look at your lord, Erinnette. He’s practically toying with my youngest~”

Erinnette allowed herself a knowing chuckle. ”Yes, my lady. It seems your ’husband’ wants to test young master Javier’s full power, without any of his inventions, knights, cannons, or magic tech to support him.”

”Ara~ he really shouldn’t be so careless, you know~” Francesca mused, eyes twinkling with mischief. ”If my honey bun gets serious, he might lose that favorite outfit of his.”

Garius smirked and let out a bored yawn. ”You know, my youngest, with your current power? I don’t think you’d be able to handle those users if they ever went evil.”

Javier had just landed when his eyes widened, he vanished, dodging in a blur as another barrage of golden orbs hurtled toward him. He countered with his own spells, but Garius repelled each one effortlessly.

Shit. This dried plum really is toying with me. Not only can Father counter every bit of magic I throw at him, but he shrugs off my physical attacks too. Punches, kicks, even my fastest drop kicks.

He bats them away like they’re nothing.

And the worst part is... he’s right. I hate to admit it.

Javier steadied himself, masking his frustration with a calm smile. Without a word, he unleashed his maximum gravity skill, the force slammed down on Garius, pinning him in place so hard the ground beneath cracked and buckled.

But Garius just smiled, unfazed. ”Good. Looks like you’re finally getting serious.”

He casually raised a hand and brushed back his hair. Instantly, a thousand razor-sharp wind cutters materialized in the air and tore toward Javier.

Javier’s eyes went wide. ”What the...!”

He thrust his palms forward, pouring mana into a full-strength barrier just as the wind blades crashed down in a storm of magic.

”Come on, my youngest~ I thought you wanted to know the answer. Who are the users of the Hand of Creation and the Power of Destruction?” Garius’s voice carried across the shattered ground, both calm and taunting.

Javier smirked, still holding his full barrier with one hand while the other began gathering mana from the air.

But then, his expression shifted, eyes narrowing in surprise.

What? Seriously?

Father’s Eyes of Truth can block the flow of natural mana?

He watched, analyzing every detail.

No... he’s not just blocking it. He’s drawing it in, using it. He can pull natural mana directly, fueling his attacks without ever dipping into his own reserves. No wonder his spells seem limitless.

Interesting...

Javier reached into his pocket and pulled out a golden mana crystal.

He let out a sly chuckle. ”Heh~ You’re not the only one with tricks, old man~”

Javier crushed the golden mana crystal in his palm, letting the concentrated mana surge into his body. Energy flooded his veins, every nerve singing with newfound power.

Garius’s eyes narrowed slightly, but a faint, knowing smile tugged at his lips.

Javier vanished, reappearing mid-air as he launched a fierce flying kick straight at Garius. Garius raised his arm to block, and for the first time, Javier’s kick made him slide half a step back.

Javier didn’t let up, he unleashed a relentless flurry of powerful kicks, each one ringing out with impact. Garius absorbed them all, the force nudging him further with each blow, though never off balance.

Finally, Garius sighed, dropping his blocking arm. ”No, my youngest. That kind of move... It’s meant for emergencies, when you’ve run out of mana or someone is actively blocking natural mana. Using it this early, in any fight, is a huge mistake.”

Javier’s eyes went wide. In that instant, he felt a crushing pressure descend on him, so intense it forced him to leap back, landing hard but steady.

What...was that?

He stared at Garius, breath catching.

”You know, Javier...” Garius’s voice dropped, his aura suddenly turning dark and heavy.

”There’s a way to gain more power, without relying on natural mana.”

Javier’s eyes flew wide.

What does Father mean...?

The world seemed to twist. Javier glanced around, and a horrific sight greeted him: everyone in the training ground

Elite guards, maids, shadow units, Alf, Erinette, Hesbeirn and everyone present, was suddenly impaled by writhing, sinister dark vines. Motionless.

A cold rage began boiling inside him.

”What are you doing, old man!!!” Javier shouted, his voice trembling with fury and confusion.

Garius’s smirk grew, his eyes gleaming with an unnatural malice. He let his voice turn low and cold, unrecognizable. ”The reason I gathered everyone here, all my strongest units, is so I can convert their power, their lives, into my own strength! This is how you become the strongest, Javier!”

He let out a low, twisted laugh that echoed across the field.

”You’ll never be truly strong unless you embrace this kind of power!” Garius’s voice rose to a manic shout, a crazed smile splitting his face.

Then, with a flick of his hand, he tossed something to the ground. In that instant, Javier saw Liana, Gloria, all his girls, even his mother, Francesca, lying there, lifeless.

Javier’s rage hit its limit. His vision tunneled, eyes going blank, expression turning utterly cold.

”...You...sacrificed them...for...power?”
