A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 771: Chapter 769: Dilemma of the Seal (End)

Deep within the hidden cave of the abyssal human den.

As the thirty-year deadline agreed with Taghibelli approached, Green’s research on the self-sealing technique, which had spanned over a thousand years, was finally nearing completion.

The complete version of Laphie’s Wonderful Moments Self-Sealing Spell was developed using the shadow runes of the Blood of Lefay within the ”Book of Truth,” and the Robe of Appearances as a medium. It intertwined memories of deep affection as an energy reservoir for the self-sealing technique.

The Robe of Appearances would replace Taghibelli’s Lifespan Feather and become Green’s energy storage medium.

Bright rainbow neon light blossomed as Green painted colorful runes on his body with the rainbow neon light. Each rune emanated a wondrous glow, richly colored.

Wherever colorful runes were painted on the body, the Robe of Appearances began to lose its invisibility, transforming into a semi-transparent, blurred state, like a lifeform from a crystal world.

This day.

As Green finished drawing the last colorful rune on his body, a complex expression of apprehension, tension, yearning, and expectation flickered across his eyes. His whole being became semi-transparent and blurred, revealing faint traces of a human-like creature wearing a white mask, dressed in a gray wizard robe, and holding a black staff with a blue head, emanating powerful magic fluctuations.

Hu...

All preparations were complete. Green slowly took out the ”Book of Truth,” floating it before him, striving to discard all distracting emotions, but found it impossible.

A touch of moisture, Green wiped his eyes beneath the Face of Truth, realizing that tears unknowingly welled up.

After so many years, that moment remained vivid, etched in his heart, branded upon his soul.

Green made a cut in the dimensional gap, and an experimental crystal glass sealing device appeared, emitting a chilling aura.

Inside the crystal stood Laphie, still retaining a touch of the arrogance and dominance from her wizard apprentice days, youthful and pure. Her head was now replaced by a crystal ball, constantly displaying Laphie’s image and expressions from Green’s memory. It was a period during their wizard apprentice days filled with bonds and shared quests for wizard knowledge.

Drip...

In the world of appearances, although they were close, the crystal glass barrier separated them, turning proximity into a vast distance, a chasm of life and death.

On one side, endless tears of pain and sorrow at the corners of his eyes; on the other, an awkward smile forced from his lips. Through the crystal, gently touching Laphie’s fingertips extended in her final moment, seeming to see her eyes filled with reluctant love, involuntarily stifled sobs.

”Wait for me on the other side of the Gate of Truth! Once this door is opened, this Gate of Truth, we will surely find the real world where we are together!”

Resolutely, Green stored the crystal in the dimensional gap, his eyes only reflecting a sharp light of cold wisdom. Beneath the blurred and twisted robe, magic surged and roared.

”Laphie’s Wonderful Moments Self-Sealing Spell, activate!”

Woosh...

The ”Book of Truth” rapidly turned its pages, shadow runes mixed with the Blood of Lefay flew out, each rune representing Green’s past failures and steps forward, a relentless pursuit of the truth mystery, connecting to the World of Oblivion.

The runic mediums were innumerable, countless in number.

As the rapidly turning pages flew out and merged into the colorful runes painted on Green’s body, it seemed these runes were infused with soul and life force, pulsing with wondrous light as if they came to life, starting to writhe incessantly, moving along Green’s body with profound rules.

”Ah...”

Until the ”Book of Truth” reached its final written page, the last rune merged into Green’s body, a cry of pain erupted. Green’s body involuntarily curled up, as if being subjected to merciless compression.

It came quickly, and went just as fast.

In a daze, the surging magic fluctuation ceased, as if nothing had happened. Only Green lay curled on the ground, twitching unnaturally, as the ”Book of Truth” gradually closed.

This is an inevitable phenomenon when the self-sealing technique is activated. The self-sealing technique suppresses the caster’s usual strength, and upon unlocking the seal, surpasses the caster’s previous absolute strength with an explosive power.

After a while.

Green slowly rose from the ground, holding the ”Book of Truth” in his left hand and supporting himself with the extreme abyss magic staff in his right. Wearing the Face of Truth on his head, his eyes alternated between icy blue and fiery red as he calmly gazed forward, seemingly penetrating layers of barrier, seeing the waiting female knight, and slowly walked step by step out of the cave. Upon his blurred and twisted semi-transparent figure, colorful runes roamed.

Beneath this layer of self-sealing runes, a terrifying monster was born!

...

”Shadow of Despair, have you... succeeded?”

Under the black robe, the only visible eyes of the Female Knight looked towards Green. Originally filled with reverence, they now showed a hint of fear. It’s important to know that Peacock Flying Feathers Taji Belli was one of the few publicly recognized Legendary Knights at Abyssal Deep Knights’ Perseverance Academy with the greatest potential to ascend as a Stigmata Knight.

”This Shadow of Despair might just be enough to battle the strongest Abyssal King Agrimond in the past three hundred years!”

When Taji Belli looked at the unfinished extreme abyss magic staff in Green’s hand, she couldn’t help but swallow hard, her eyelids twitching repeatedly.

”No! Perhaps it has already surpassed Agrimond, becoming a hidden monster beneath the stigmata of the Wizard World! It’s just a pity...”

Taji Belli didn’t continue to dwell on it, but she couldn’t stop the regret in her heart.

It’s just a pity that, no matter how strong one becomes, in this sealing space the stronger one is, the more life is consumed, and the quicker they die. The best way to cope is to either self-seal or fall into eternal slumber, just like those ancient Wizards who passed away in their sleep.

”Here is your reward.”

After returning the second Lifespan Feather to Taji Belli, Green suddenly took out the Ring of Phantom Shadows and said in a low voice, ”This Ring of Phantom Shadows has no sealing prohibition and can be used at will. Of course, within this sealing relic, only part of its abilities can be used. The Ring of Phantom Shadows overlaps with my witchcraft abilities, so how about exchanging it for your oil lamp?”

The Female Knight under the black robe gave a dismissive laugh.

”What, are you still planning on getting out? Don’t count on those guys at the sealed exit; they’ll probably be slaughtered cleanly by that Demon Lord in an instant.”

Speaking with an almost indifferent attitude, Taji Belli handed the extinguished oil lamp to Green and simultaneously accepted the Ring of Phantom Shadows.

Green said calmly, ”Since you no longer plan to leave, do you still want this last Lifespan Feather?”

Taji Belli paused, a bitter expression appearing.

Even though she repeatedly claimed to have given up hope of escaping this sealing space, deep down she was still yearning for it. Otherwise, what use would it be to reclaim these Lifespan Feathers?

”Do you mean you have a way to leave here!?”

Taji Belli snapped out of it, asking excitedly.

Green smiled, producing a Destiny Contract along with the third Lifespan Feather. The contents of the contract were almost identical to the Destiny Contract Green had once signed during the Sky City’s sixth project for the Micro-Vision Eye to obtain the Face of Truth.

Once Green established the Sorcerer’s Tower, if the Source of Magic Power was destroyed, Taji Belli would lose the three Lifespan Feathers forever, until she ascended as a Stigmata Sorcerer, ending the contract.

Unable to contain her excitement, Taji Belli signed the Destiny Contract without hesitation, regaining her third Lifespan Feather.

After the Destiny Contract vanished, Green, with a smile full of trust, said calmly, ”Wait, wait for my soul partner, the Eight Rainbows Nevis, to reopen this seal from the outside.”

Just as the Female Knight’s eyes lit up with urgent hope, Green turned and slowly walked towards the distance.

”But don’t expect to get out immediately. This guy is extremely cautious and won’t come to take risks without gathering enough manpower. It might even take the time to spend with its wife, rest well on the way, taste some local delicacies. Time holds little meaning to it. So just enjoy your time here researching the history of the ancient war as a sort of vacation. Meanwhile, I’ll be here resolving some issues from the magic backlash...”

...

And thus, a wait of one hundred and forty years passed.

Rumble, rumble, rumble...

On this day, after finishing research on the cellular activation reaction of ancient abyssal demonic qi on a specimen, Green, who was slowly recovering spiritual power through meditation, suddenly looked up at the sky, as if the entire sky of the relic was collapsing.

”Shadow of Despair, what’s going on!?”

Taji Belli appeared beside Green, astonished as she gazed at the sky. The collapsing sky cracks spread in all directions, causing the entire sealing relic space to tremble, with rocks shattering like the end of the world.

Green involuntarily swallowed, lost in disbelief, and muttered in panic, ”Which ancient True Spirit Wizard did this guy summon!?”

”True Spirit Wizard!?”

Taji Belli exclaimed in surprise.

The ground caved in, and in the sky, the continuous collapse of cracks created a catastrophic scene of despair in the sealing relic. The familiar voice of Xiao Ba rang out.

”Ga ga ga ga ga! Green Beast, hang in there, don’t be scared, Master Eight has gathered enough manpower to save you, don’t you dare die on me! Damn it, launch a full-scale attack, purify all the abyssal demon creatures here!”

The overwhelming Wizard Legion, Slave Monster Army, and Stigmata Sorcerers appeared through the cracks in the sky. The sheer magnitude of the formation was dozens of times greater than the Formless Ancient Demon Abyssal Summoning, cramming the skies and land outside the sealing relic. (To be continued.
