Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

In this way, Zhu Chongba decided on his course. He, along with Ma Xiuying and a few guards disguised as merchants, would inspect the strength of Huangzhou Prefecture.

...

One could say that the invitations sent by Chen Jie directly startled all the major forces under the heavens, whether they belonged to the court or the Jianghu.

In any case, they all learned the news that Chen Jiusi was about to marry.

At this moment, in Longxing Prefecture.

Ruyang King looked at the set of Dragon and Phoenix Wedding Dress in front of him, which used ten pounds of golden thread, feeling very satisfied. It indeed lived up to the craftsmanship of the best tailor shop in Longxing Prefecture.

At this time, Ruyang King took it to Zhao Ya, who was talking with her two masters.

Her two masters were the Turtle and Crane Elders, who had been captured by Sharlu during his rebellion and imprisoned, only to be rescued after Ruyang King returned to the city.

The two had suffered quite a bit but were still very happy upon hearing that Zhao Ya was getting married.

So they stayed with Zhao Ya all the time. When Ruyang King arrived with the carefully customized dress, he said, ”Yaya, your wedding dress has arrived.”

Zhao Ya was momentarily stunned and then saw the dazzling golden wedding dress handed over by Ruyang King. It was the work of top-level tailors.

Ruyang King looked at Zhao Ya and said, ”Yaya, do you like it?”

Upon hearing this, Zhao Ya replied, ”I like it.”

Ruyang King said, ”That’s good. I came to tell you one more thing: tomorrow we will set off for Jiujiang Prefecture. The bride’s sedan cannot travel too fast, so we must hurry to Jiujiang Prefecture.”

”Then we’ll enter Xianning Prefecture from Jiujiang Prefecture, and from there into Huangzhou Prefecture.”

Upon hearing this, Zhao Ya said, ”Mm, all will be as Father King arranges.”

Ruyang King glanced at Zhao Ya and said, ”A grown daughter can’t be kept, the more you keep, the more it turns into resentment, don’t you think so, Masters Turtle and Crane?”

The two Masters immediately detected the sour note in Ruyang King’s words and replied, ”Prince, no matter where the Commandery Princess goes, she will always be your daughter. That can’t change.”

Ruyang King chuckled at this emotionally charged answer, ”You two, such smooth talkers!”

After speaking, he laughed. Although what Turtle and Crane Elders said was slick, Ruyang King found it pleasing! Thus, he was still very happy at this moment.

While they were talking, Zhao Ya suddenly spoke, ”Father King, can my brother accompany me to this wedding?”

Upon hearing this, Ruyang King’s expression instantly darkened, ”What use is that beast? No way.”

Zhao Ya said, ”Father King, Brother genuinely knows he was wrong. Can’t you give him a chance to redeem himself?”

Ruyang King remained silent after hearing Zhao Ya’s words for a long while before speaking, ”No. He has become the focus of all Jiangnan now. If I now let him out, the people’s hearts in Jiangnan will scatter, so I will not allow him to come out.”

Zhao Ya fell silent at these words, looking at Ruyang King, ”But he is your son after all, my brother.”

Ruyang King said, ”When someone does something wrong, they must pay the price. You can’t forsake that price because of what he is, do you understand?”

”Sigh, I understand, Father King. But may I at least see my brother?”

”After all, once I marry, I don’t know when I’ll be able to come back to see him!”

Ruyang King felt deeply helpless upon hearing Zhao Ya’s words, sighed, and said, ”Fine, you can see him.”

”Thank you, Father King.”

After saying this, Ruyang King added, ”Don’t miss the time to depart tomorrow.”

Zhao Ya said, ”I understand, Father King.”

Zhao Ya replied as Ruyang King left. Turning to the Turtle and Crane Elders, she said, ”Will Masters accompany me for a while?”

The Turtle and Crane Elders said, ”Let’s go.”

Very soon, Zhao Ya arrived at the secluded courtyard where Sharlu was held. The yard wasn’t large, especially when compared to a Prince Mansion, but for an ordinary family, it’d still be considered spacious.

Zhao Ya arrived, and the guards sent by Ruyang King stood at the gate.

Without an order from the Prince, no one was allowed to approach, but upon seeing Zhao Ya and hearing her say that the Prince had permitted her, they dared not stop her.

Zhao Ya then entered with the Turtle and Crane Elders.

Upon entering, she saw a man, utterly bored, lying crookedly on a chaise lounge in the courtyard.

Zhao Ya said to the Turtle and Crane Elders behind her, ”Masters, I’d like to spend a moment alone with my brother.”

The Turtle and Crane Elders did not refuse and turned to leave. Zhao Ya then approached Sharlu with alcohol and meat.

Sharlu, half-squinting, glanced at Zhao Ya and sneered, ”Come to laugh at my pathetic state?”

Upon hearing this, Zhao Ya looked at Sharlu and said, ”Brother, I’m your sister; why would I laugh at you?”

”Heh, sister, I can’t afford to be your brother. Your brother is Kuo Kuo, the future Ruyang King, not this prisoner of war.”

Sharlu’s voice was laden with sarcasm.

Zhao Ya placed the alcohol and meat in her hands down and said, ”Brother, we are siblings of the same mother. When I was bullied as a child, it was you who helped me fight back. When did we become so distant?”

Hearing this, Sharlu fell silent.

Zhao Ya continued, ”Sister is about to marry, and in the future, I may not often come to see you. Mother has cried several nights because of you and said you won’t let her visit.”

”Whether or not to let her visit is your right, but Mother has done nothing wrong.”

After saying this, Zhao Ya pondered and said, ”Brother, it seems you are not welcoming me, so I shall leave now.”

With that, Zhao Ya turned to leave, and Sharlu behind her reached out, clutching at the air but said nothing even as Zhao Ya completely left.

Only then did Sharlu mutter, ”Happy wedding~”

As he finished speaking, a teardrop slid down his cheek.

Zhao Ya felt deeply conflicted as she left Sharlu’s detention place. Outside, the Turtle and Crane Elders said, ”The Young Prince was just taken aback. I believe things will get better.”

Zhao Ya nodded gently.

The Turtle and Crane Elders said, ”Alright, let’s not dwell on this. Let’s head back. Tomorrow is Yaya’s wedding, we all have to attend.”

”If Chen Jiusi dares to neglect our Yaya, I will fight him to the end!”

Elder He said this with conviction, and Elder Turtle nodded in agreement.

Having said all of this, they followed Zhao Ya as she left.

Early the next morning, Ruyang King arranged for the appropriate matters and, along with Wang Baobao, led ten thousand White Deer Army troops to escort Zhao Ya to Jiujiang Prefecture.

Marching forward, the drums were beating, and countless people were watching as their Commandery Princess prepared for her wedding.

When the news from Ruyang King spread, Chen Jiusi of Huangzhou Prefecture quickly heard about it.

At this moment in Huangzhou Prefecture, at the Chen Residence.

Su Yunjin was busily directing the servants in her courtyard to tidy up the garden and clean the bridal chamber, decorating everywhere with lanterns and colored banners to welcome the Commandery Princess as the new bride.

Meanwhile, Huang Wan’er was leisurely lounging on a chaise lounge, watching everything unfold with a tinge of jealousy.

Chen Jie appeared in the courtyard, and upon seeing him, Huang Wan’er immediately turned away, adopting a pouting expression like an upset little woman.

Seeing this, Chen Jie walked over and said, ”Well, Yunjin has been busy all day, and here you are, enjoying yourself in solitude, right?”

Huang Wan’er said, ”I’m not as foolish as Yunjin, setting up women for her own man and being this devoted about it.”

Chen Jie looked at Huang Wan’er and said, ”What, are you throwing a childish tantrum like this?”

Huang Wan’er said, ”Why not, huh? My own man is going to be divided away, so I’m not allowed to throw a fit?”

Chen Jie said, ”You can fuss, but don’t overdo it, alright?”

Huang Wan’er rolled her eyes at Chen Jie, ”You’re truly forgetting your old love for a new one. Who was it back in that nunnery, ’darling’ this and ’darling’ that? Now you’re all serious.”

Chen Jie looked at Huang Wan’er and said, ”What, you’re still not satisfied with that expression?”

Upon hearing this, Huang Wan’er tilted her head back defiantly but quickly relented, saying, ”Give me a few days, I’m not afraid of you.”

Chen Jie watched her and said, ”Alright, stop the fuss. Help Yunjin with the household matters. She’s exhausted, and I have a pile of matters to handle. Be a good girl, okay?”

Huang Wan’er said, ”I know, the chores have long been taken care of. It’s just that Yunjin won’t rest unless she does it herself. We don’t lack a Manager at home; there’s no need for her to tire herself this way.”

Chen Jie looked at Huang Wan’er with a helpless expression. This woman was like this, possessing many of the flaws women typically have but also having their charms. In truth, she should resemble those women of later generations more.

While thinking this, Xiao Hu suddenly rushed in and said, ”Brother, a message from Longxing Prefecture says the Commandery Princess is already on her way to Jiujiang Prefecture!”
