Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Zhu Chongba’s idea was not wrong, this corn is truly a treasure, knowing that in any dynasty, doubling grain production is something worthy of the Grand Ancestral Temple.

And such seeds that can double grain production are naturally treasures among treasures and must not be easily leaked.

Furthermore, the old man had just said, the grain in Huangzhou Prefecture is meant to be bought back, clearly controlling the circulation of grain to prevent leakage.

So he instinctively felt that he certainly wouldn’t be able to buy it and would have to steal it.

But who would have thought, this corn was actually for sale, which left Zhu Chongba feeling so awkward, doing all this only to realize the fool was actually himself!

Zhu Chongba felt embarrassed, and Li Shanchang, being a scholar, felt even more ashamed; it was truly pointless being a petty person.

Ma Xiuying, however, said nothing, she simply paid the old man and replaced the goods on the cart with corn; these seeds were enough for them to cultivate new-style grains!

In this way, Zhu Chongba and Ma Xiuying continued on horseback towards Huangzhou Prefecture City. On the road, Ma Xiuying glanced at Zhu Chongba and said, ”When I bought the corn just now, why were you so surprised?”

Zhu Chongba heard this and replied calmly, ”Oh, nothing, I just thought such good grain should be sold more.”

Ma Xiuying said, ”Though this grain is good, who knows if it’s picky about the land. We can’t spread it all over Haozhou yet, take some back first to test it on some land and see the effect.”

Zhu Chongba replied, ”Yes, yes, what my sister says is right.”

Then Zhu Chongba took out two ears of corn he stole from his pocket and tossed them to Tang He, saying, ”Quickly throw them in the cart, it’s really shameful.”

After saying this, Zhu Chongba continued towards Huangzhou Prefecture as if nothing happened.

And the matter of Zhu Chongba buying corn soon reached Chen Jiusi’s ears.

Huangzhou Prefecture City, City Lord Mansion, Chen Family Mansion.

Chen Xiaohu at this time handed the latest news to Chen Jie, ”Fourth Brother, the latest news, Zhu Chongba has taken an interest in the corn we are promoting in Sun Family Town and bought a cart of corn from the local villagers, seems like he plans to take it back to Haozhou for planting.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Jie curled his lips and said, ”This Zhu Chongba is truly just learning the surface from me.”

Chen Xiaohu heard and said, ”Fourth Brother, this corn is the treasure of our Huangzhou Prefecture, how could we easily let Zhu Chongba obtain the seeds, how could this be right?”

Seeing Chen Xiaohu’s worried look, Chen Jie said, ”No need to fear, this corn is not something he can casually save for seeds.”

Chen Xiaohu was taken aback and looked at Chen Jie, ”Fourth Brother, is there more to this?”

Chen Jie said, ”The corn we plant in Huangzhou Prefecture are all seeds cultivated by the Agricultural Academy; these seeds need to be cultivated anew each year to achieve high yield. If farmers save seeds on their own, the yield in each subsequent generation will drop significantly.”

”The corn Zhu Chongba bought from the locals as seed, next year the corn yield per acre will only be more than three hundred jin, barely higher than the current wheat yield.”

”If they continue to use the corn produced in their own fields as seed, the yield will drop even more, maybe only two hundred jin, eventually reverting the corn back to the small type of corn.”

Chen Xiaohu heard this and said, ”This, there’s really such a thing, if that’s the case, Zhu Chongba learning from us is truly stealing a chicken only to end up losing the bait.”

Chen Jie laughed and said, ”I dared to bring it out for him to learn, I surely have my assurance; if there was no assurance, how could I let Zhu Chongba wander around my Huangzhou Prefecture.”

Besides, this time, I must make him realize the huge gap between him and my Huangzhou Prefecture; these villagers are nothing, when he arrives in the city, he’ll truly envy them numb.”

Chen Jie said, then looked at Xiao Hu and said, ”By the way, are those guests I asked you to arrange sorted out?”

Chen Xiaohu said, ”All arranged, guests are settled in our Noble Guest House, quite a few people have arrived already.”

”Hmm, be sure to arrange them well. Tonight in the mansion, I’ll host a banquet to entertain these noble guests; by the way, where are the Commandery Princess and them now?”

Chen Jie inquired, and upon hearing this, Chen Xiaohu said, ”Already reached Jiujiang Prefecture, tomorrow they will enter our Huangzhou Prefecture, and will reside in our prepared Reception Hall in the evening.”

Chen Jie said, ”Hmm, do not delay my grand marriage the day after tomorrow.”

Xiao Hu said, ”Brother, rest assured, everything is prepared well, no issues at all.”

Chen Jie nodded lightly and said, ”That’s good then.”

After saying these words, Chen Jie became a bit expectant, separating from Yaya for more than ten days, indeed missing her!

After this grand marriage, it will settle a part of his thoughts.

Thinking of this, Chen Jie began to continue arranging relevant matters, overseeing some things. This grand marriage would have a huge impact on the whole realm, and many people attending could influence the future direction of the world.

Thus, Chen Jie must be extremely cautious!

...

Outside Huangzhou Prefecture City, a caravan had arrived outside the city gate. Looking at the tall Huangzhou Prefecture City ahead and the gray road extending outside, Zhu Chongba was stunned.

For the Huangzhou Prefecture City in front of him was two or three zhang taller than other cities he had seen. Don’t underestimate this distance, as it can block many top experts during war.

And Zhu Chongba was even more curious about the gray road extending from the city gate outward; he jumped off his horse and stepped on the ground, muttering, ”What material is this ground made of?”
