Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Master Zhang of Wudang is amazing, truly, the top person in Martial Arts, a Land Living Immortal.

But his influence is limited to the rise and fall of one mountain and one sect. You ask him to save the common people, sorry, he cannot.

In Chen Jie’s words, he can only pursue his own transcendence but cannot alleviate the suffering of the people.

However, Chen Jie is different. His realm is too high. He is not only seeking his own transcendence; he is even thinking about the common people, and for their sake, he is willing to do things that may not be beneficial to himself.

Like this time, teaching a lesson to the undisciplined subordinates of Zhu Chongba.

This is actually helping Zhu Chongba tidy up his military discipline. Zhu Chongba has great ambitions. Even in mythological terms, he has learned the Xuanyuan Technique from the Three Divine Skills of the Human Emperor.

Also, he is the future candidate for the Heavenly Mandate Emperor.

He and Chen Jie, who is a cultivator of the Four Seasons Celestial Phenomenon Technique, are competitors for the Heavenly Mandate. By right, they should be enemies, yet now Chen Jie is actually helping him organize military discipline.

If it were any ordinary person, seeing Zhu Chongba’s army so unrestrained, they would probably laugh heartily, thinking Zhu Chongba is of no consequence and will never win the people’s hearts, posing no significant future threat.

But Chen Jie is not like that.

Chen Jie actually has his own thoughts. He knows Zhu Chongba well, even better than Zhu Chongba himself.

Zhu Chongba’s troops lack discipline, Zhu Chongba himself cannot control his subordinates well.

How is that possible? The historical Emperor Hongwu certainly wouldn’t tolerate any undisciplined military leaders.

So this is merely temporary. The undisciplined state of Old Zhu’s army cannot last, and eventually, things will return to a good state. While Zhu’s army will remain largely unaffected in this process, it’s the common people who will suffer.

Chen Jie wants to conquer the world, aiming to ensure the common people do not suffer too much. If saving one person now is possible, then it should be done. What’s there to say?

Moreover, Chen Jie is always very confident. He doesn’t think he would lose to Zhu Yuanzhang, who is still exploring everything, given the wealth of experience he’s brought from the future along with the current favorable economic conditions.

Also, since Daqian still exists, he and Zhu Yuanzhang should have a common enemy, focusing first on dealing with Daqian, with other matters secondary.

It is precisely because Chen Jie has such a broad perspective that these events have transpired today.

Having resolved the matter, Chen Jie stood up and said, ”We should go now, Du Xiong, pay up.”

Du Xiong, upon hearing this, reached into his pocket, and only then did the shopkeeper and the little waiter dare to come out. Chen Jie looked at them and said, ”The trouble has been sorted for you, we’re leaving.”

Du Xiong responded by tossing the money onto the table, and the group was about ready to leave.

Unexpectedly, the little waiter chased after them saying, ”Hero, our shopkeeper said it is our blessing to have you dine here, we absolutely cannot accept this money.”

Chen Jie listened to this and looked at the other party saying, ”Do I look like a beggar to you?”

The little waiter quickly replied, ”Please don’t misunderstand, Hero, I am not...”

Chen Jie said, ”Take the money, live well.”

After finishing speaking, he already mounted the horse that Du Xiong brought over, preparing to leave. Watching Chen Jie depart, the little waiter looked at the silver coins in his hand. At this time, the shopkeeper walked over and said, ”Take it, what we consider valuable silver coins might be like dirt on the road to people like them.”

Having said that, he turned around and went back, and the little waiter also retreated. Years later, Chen Jiusi ascended to the position of the Master Jiu Wu, and the little waiter became the shopkeeper, often bragging to his people about the time he had the honor of serving the Grand Ancestor a meal.

Chen Jie and his group rode forward. Today, they must leave Guancheng Prefecture; they have only 20 days to reach the Great Capital this time.

Someone might say, from Hubei to the Capital, now perhaps you could get there by plane in two or three hours, but in this season, even riding a horse requires a long time.

The group continued onward like this.

Just as they were approaching the outskirts of Guancheng Prefecture, suddenly a huge army blocked the path ahead.

Chen Jie looked and saw that there were thousands of men, but this didn’t put much pressure on Chen Jie. At his level, troops numbering around a thousand were more a minor affair for them. At this time, Chen Jie reined in his horse, looked around.

And upon seeing Chen Jie halt, a person from the opposing army stepped forward. Chen Jie looked and could vaguely recall him.

As this person came closer, his leopard-head and round-eyed appearance was quite noticeable. He had long arms and held a long spear, riding forward out of the military formation. As he approached Chen Jie, he immediately cupped his fists and said, ”Are you Chen Jiusi of Huangzhou, Hero Chen?”

Chen Jie looked at him and said, ”Tang He!”

The leopard-headed, round-eyed fellow was pleased to hear Chen Jie call his name. After all, Chen Jie’s recent fame had been remarkable, while he was merely the head of a battalion from Haozhou, not of the same level as Chen Jiusi.

He immediately chuckled and said, ”I’m grateful that the Hero remembers, so embarrassed.”

Chen Jie laughed and said, ”I know you, you’re Zhu Chongba’s good brother, right? Back in Longxing Prefecture, Chongba and I met without fighting. You had Xu Da back then too, didn’t you? All close to Chongba.”

Tang He laughed in response, ”It’s rare that the Hero remembers.”

Chen Jie asked, ”You brought such a large force to find me, what’s the matter?”

Tang He was a bit stunned and said, ”Oh, it’s like this, I just received word that the Hero arrived at Guancheng Prefecture and helped me solve a major concern. I came especially to express my gratitude.”

Chen Jie heard this and said, ”Oh, you mean that, it’s just a minor issue, don’t worry about it. But I also hope you relay a message to Chongba that military discipline is no small matter. Our uprising should focus on not only establishing merit but also considering how we can help the common people.”
