Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Chapter 1485: Chapter 38: Zhao Ya: Did I Just See 94!_2

The official said, ”Anhui Road, Anqing Prefecture.”

Anqing?

The Ruyang King’s eyes shifted as he said, ”Let Haku lead ten thousand White Deer Army with me to Anqing Prefecture.”

Hmm?

After hearing this, the official who delivered the message was stunned and looked at the Ruyang King, saying, ”Prince, that’s just a small group of rebels, no more than three thousand people. The leader is just in the Wolf Smoke Realm, Prince, you don’t need to go personally, do you?”

The official was dumbfounded, for such a mere Wolf Smoke Realm, any chiliarch could easily resolve it. Why involve the Ruyang King, who is in the Melt God Realm?

If that small bandit knew the Ruyang King was personally dispatched to deal with him, he might question the heavens, ”Have I violated the heavenly edict?”

The Ruyang King led ten thousand elite White Deer Troops to settle a leader in the Wolf Smoke Realm with no more than three thousand disorganized fellows.

It must be said, this vocabulary is quite niche.

It was also that this bandit leader was unlucky to create trouble in Anqing, of all places.

What kind of place is Anqing? It’s Anhui, and it’s very close to Lu’an. What kind of place is Lu’an? It’s a designated rest stop for the Commandery Princess’s marriage according to court regulations.

When the Commandery Princess is married, as per court rules, a city within a certain distance must be found as a resting place, and the preparations for reception must be made in advance. Lu’an is one of such reception places.

And Anqing Prefecture is very close to Lu’an. The Ruyang King was originally brooding over not escorting his daughter. But if he went, he’d fear seeing those resentful eyes of his daughter.

It’s pitiful, the heart of every parent in the world. On one side is the Monarch, and on the other is his own daughter. How can one weigh such matters?

He, Chaghan Timur, has been loyal and patriotic all his life, and His Majesty the Emperor has been more than kind to him. How could he possibly abandon the court, abandon his ancestors?

And on the other side is his most beloved daughter, in whom he has poured all a father’s love.

Now there’s a conflict between the two, how is he supposed to choose?

So he has to hide his feelings. And now these small bandits surprisingly appeared in Anqing, it’s simply a gift from the heavens, allowing him to escort his daughter under another reason.

At this moment, the Ruyang King said to the steward, ”Instruct Haku to prepare the troops at 1 p.m. and set out at 3 p.m., marching towards Anqing Prefecture.”

He then looked towards the official who reported the situation and asked, ”What mountain?”

Upon hearing this, the official said, ”Serpenthead Mountain.”

”Right, the military strategy at Serpenthead Mountain, to eradicate the great bandits!”

With this remark, everyone present was stunned and then all looked towards the Ruyang King. When did a small bandit in the Wolf Smoke Realm become a great bandit in the mouth of the Ruyang King?

...

Lu’an Prefecture, located on the northern foothills of Dabie Mountain, on the western edge of the Yangtze River Delta, has developed transportation and is a must-pass for merchants.

But today, Lu’an Prefecture City is under strict lockdown. All merchants have been notified that they are not allowed to enter the city today. Early in the morning, the Prefect of Lu’an, along with all civil and military officials of the city, has arrived at the city gate to await the carriage of the Commandery Princess.

This is the top priority for Lu’an Prefecture this year. Not only is Princess Xiangning the daughter of the Ruyang King, but more importantly, she is valued by the Emperor and will be conferred as the Empress upon entering the palace. Such a noble position as the mother of a nation.

If they can serve the Commandery Princess well, not to mention the court, even if the Ruyang King gives them a little promotion, they will benefit immensely.

For this reason, after Lu’an Prefecture was chosen as the resting place for the Commandery Princess, the Prefect of Lu’an directly sought out the most affluent family in Lu’an and borrowed their Cheng Garden, undergoing the most luxurious renovation to become the Princess’s temporary residence.

Moreover, he notified the shopkeepers of the three major restaurants in Lu’an to bring their top chefs to Cheng Garden to prepare the best dishes, in hopes of being praised by the Commandery Princess.

That would be equivalent to commendation by the future Empress, what an honor!

Upon realizing the significance here, the three major restaurant owners in the city immediately provided their full support, knowing that being praised by the future Empress would be a considerable profit.

Thus, they also sent their chefs to Cheng Garden. Moreover, the Prefect of Lu’an deployed all Government Officials from the province to patrol the streets, ensuring no one can touch the ground, so as not to leave a bad impression on the Commandery Princess.

Given the Commandery Princess’s future position, in the palace, if the Emperor were to ask, ”How do you find Lu’an Prefecture, Empress?”

The Commandery Princess only need to say, ”Not good.”

The Prefect of Lu’an’s three years would be wasted, not to mention promotions, he might even be demoted.

But if the Commandery Princess said, ”Lu’an is a good place.”

In the Ministry of Personnel’s evaluation, he can secure a top rating. It’s possible to rise further up even if not suddenly rising to a high position.

So this time, welcoming the Commandery Princess is both a challenge and an opportunity.

Therefore, the Prefect of Lu’an would rather wait a whole day than to allow the Commandery Princess to find a single fault.

”Brother, this Prefect of Lu’an is interesting. He’s been waiting for an entire two hours, doesn’t he have other things to do?”

At this moment, in a restaurant by the street, on an upper floor, Chen Jie was drinking bland wine with Xiao Hu.

This was a private room that Chen Jie had rented for a high price.

Chen Jie had arrived in Lu’an the previous night, and met with Chen Xiaohu and Wu Daojun. Chen Jie immediately laid out a plan, with Chen Xiaohu accompanying him into the city to find an opportunity to rescue the Commandery Princess.
