Chapter 1484: Chapter 338: Zhao Ya: Why Do I Feel Like I Saw 94!

Dang!

Gongs and drums were sounded!

The caravan set off, with the Imperial Guard sent by the court leading the way, headed by Tuomu, the fifth of the Qincha Eight Guards.

In the middle was the ceremonial team sent by the Ruyang Royal Mansion, escorting the carriages, including Lord Wuxiang, the Turtle and Crane Elders, Ah Da, Ah Er, Ah San, who were sent by the Ruyang King to support the Commandery Princess. Among them, Ah Da, Ah Er, and Ah San were the Commandery Princess’s regular guards, and according to the plan, they would stay with the Commandery Princess permanently in the Capital.

After the Commandery Princess’s wedding and residency in the Eastern Palace, the Emperor would bestow them with the title of guard, thus becoming a small flag officer of the Imperial Guard, establishing themselves well in the Capital.

Moreover, if the Commandery Princess needed to accomplish something, she could have Ah Da and the other two do it.

However, the Turtle and Crane Elders, including Lord Wuxiang, were only temporary security. Once they safely escorted the Commandery Princess to the Capital, they would have to return to continue their unfinished work.

They could not stay with the Commandery Princess in the Capital for long.

Besides this, there were also fifty dowry carriages being escorted as part of the ceremonial team, the silver coin of which will be left at the Commandery Princess’s residence in the Capital, usually managed by Ah Da and the other two, and will accompany the Commandery Princess to the Imperial Palace during the grand wedding.

After all, without some silver coin in the Imperial Palace, even the eunuchs and palace maids could make things difficult for the Commandery Princess. That place is not a sanctuary for good men and holy women.

In addition to these, there was the escort army at the back, led by General Wang Baobao, under whom was ten thousand direct lineage of the White Deer Army. At this time, Wang Baobao’s expression was somber as he escorted his sister to the Capital to marry the old Emperor.

Wang Baobao was opposed to it. The feeling was akin to selling his sister to gain riches for himself, a feeling of shame.

But the journey was not peaceful, and Wang Baobao did not want his sister to be in danger; thus, he reluctantly took the role of this escort officer.

Deputy General Huo Bima noticed Wang Baobao’s troubled thoughts and rode over to say, ”Commander, are you alright?”

Upon hearing this, Wang Baobao said, ”I’m fine. Inform the army to keep up and send scouts to investigate ahead to ensure my sister’s journey is smooth and without any issues.”

”Yes!”

Hearing this, Huo Bima personally directed scouts to go ahead to gather intelligence.

The entire main force immediately set off, heading straight for the Great Capital.

At this time, Zhao Ya sat in the carriage, with two bridesmaids, Qing Zhu and Molan, looking at the Commandery Princess. Only to see the Commandery Princess sitting there expressionlessly, but large tears fell from her eyes.

Dripping onto the back of her hand, yet she seemed unaware.

The two girls watched Zhao Ya sob silently, unsure how to console her.

Their Commandery Princess had never been like this before. The two maids exchanged a glance, and Qing Zhu gave Molan a look. Molan looked at Zhao Ya and said, ”Commandery Princess, don’t cry yourself sick.”

Zhao Ya did not respond, and Qing Zhu said, ”Yes, Commandery Princess, if you cry yourself sick, the Prince will also be heartbroken.”

Zhao Ya raised her head to look at Qing Zhu after hearing this and said, ”He, he would not be heartbroken. In his eyes, I might just be a tool to maintain his Ruyang King’s position.”

”Commandery Princess, that cannot be.”

Molan was trying to console her, and Qing Zhu also said, ”Commandery Princess, the Prince cares for you the most. How could he be like that? It must be a misunderstanding.”

Zhao Ya wiped her tears but said nothing, only tilting her head to look towards the carriage window, where the curtains blocked everything, like clipping the wings of a bird yearning for freedom.

At this moment, Zhao Ya felt like a caged canary with clipped wings. She was supposed to be an eagle, but now her wings were broken, and she was in a cage for people to play with, and it was her most beloved father who broke her wings.

This emotion made Zhao Ya feel like she could hardly breathe.

The caravan moved forward slowly, soon leaving the Ruyang Royal Mansion behind, disappearing from its sight.

”Prince, the wind has picked up; it’s time to return!”

The Ruyang King stood at the entrance, watching the caravan disappear, when the steward came up to remind him. The Ruyang King remained silent for a moment before saying, ”Let’s go back.”

After saying so, he turned and walked back to the residence. For some reason, as he turned, his previously mighty figure seemed somewhat stooped, as if he had aged decades in an instant.

Watching the Prince’s departing figure, the old steward sighed.

Shaking his head with a face full of helplessness.

The Ruyang King absentmindedly returned to his study, looking at the stack of documents waiting for him to deal with, yet he had no mind for them.

So, he ordered the steward to bring a jar of wine.

The steward didn’t say anything upon hearing this, immediately bringing a jar of fine imperial wine to the Ruyang King, who, upon seeing the wine, started drinking heavily.

Gulp, gulp...

The Ruyang King brought the wine jar to his lips and took a swig. The steward promptly said, ”Prince, take it slow; I’ll have someone prepare some snacks.”

The Ruyang King replied, ”No need, you can leave now.”

The steward immediately complied and prepared to leave, but just then, a group of officials delivering documents walked over, and the steward said, ”The Prince is in no mood to review today, you should return first.”

The official replied, ”Well, okay, it’s not an urgent matter anyway.”

At this moment, the Ruyang King raised his head and asked, ”Where is the report from?”

Upon hearing this, the official immediately said, ”Reporting to the Prince, the report is from Anqing Prefecture, Anhui. It says there are small gangs causing trouble there, hoping the Prince can send a thousand White Deer Army to suppress it.”

The Ruyang King was taken aback and asked, ”Where did you say the report was from?”
