Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Chapter 1480: Chapter 337: Zhao Ya: 94, Where Are You!

Longxing Prefecture, Ruyang Royal Mansion.

”Get out!”

Zhao Ya directly swept all the pure gold head ornaments with precious gemstones off the table, her face full of anger and grievance, yet helpless. This was her destiny, a fate arranged for her since she was nine years old.

No one could stop it.

Over the years, she tried desperately to prove herself, to prove that her achievements were not because of her status, or due to her so-called Innate Phoenix Blood.

She once fantasized that through her efforts, she could make her father look at her differently and find a way to cancel this absurd marriage.

Marry the Emperor?

Many women had fantasized about this, but Zhao Ya had no desire for it at all; she suddenly only wanted freedom. She didn’t want to become a resentful woman trapped in the deep palace.

To live a lifetime within those high walls, never to be free.

She wanted to become a bird, able to fly freely between heaven and earth. If she had never seen the light, she would not be so afraid of the dark.

But she had seen the light, witnessed the greatness of the country, seen the prosperity of the Mortal World; and now you wish to put her back into a cage, break her wings—it was a cruel thing to do.

This is freedom!

And love, the Emperor, her sixth uncle, she had seen him before, ten years ago. Even then, he was very fat, rough-looking, a long-time heavy drinker with an absurdly red, bloated nose.

He had a rough appearance, making him difficult to approach. More importantly, he was her sixth uncle, although their relationship wasn’t directly related.

He was a cousin uncle.

But such a thoroughly assimilated Zhao Ya found it hard to accept.

The Mulan Clan had a tradition of marrying within the same clan, especially their Imperial Family. To ensure the purity of their Golden Family bloodline, they always married within the clan. For example, the previous Empress of Emperor Yuan Shundi was actually his cousin according to their generation.

This was not something unacceptable to the Mulan people; however, the assimilated Zhao Ya couldn’t accept some of the rules of her own ethnic group.

So she wanted to rebel; she felt resistant inside, but she dared not.

Because that was the Emperor, even though Daqian Empire was in a turbulent time, the nation still stood, and the Emperor’s authority remained.

If she were to refuse the Emperor, what kind of blow would that bring to her family?

She once thought that if she just closed her eyes, she might muddle her way through the marriage; but now, when she closed her eyes, all she saw was Chen Jiu Si.

Yes, it was indeed Chen Jiu Si. When she closed her eyes now, she saw Chen Jiu Si, unable to get rid of the memories of their moments together.

From their encounter at Xiantao Village, Zhao Ya had long realized that Chen Jiu Si was the shameless scoundrel who had teased her in the vegetable cellar years ago, but she didn’t expose him. Instead, recalling those days, she found them quite amusing.

Then, their first encounter at Mianshui, he pretended not to recognize her.

They experienced the Medicine King Treasure on the Mianshui River together, helped each other during the disaster at Mianshui, and later developed feelings between the switched magistrate incident in Huangzhou Prefecture, then onto Five Poison Mountain where in a cave of the Five Poison Sect, they declared their love amidst danger. She saved Chen Jiu Si with her Phoenix Blood, and Chen Jiu Si saved her in return with Dragon Blood Ganoderma.

In this process, their feelings for each other deepened, reaching a peak.

Later at the Treasure Book Glory Conference in Longxing Prefecture, one event after another, now when she thinks back, her heart is filled with memories and sweetness.

That’s how women are; once someone resides in their hearts, there is no room for anyone else.

Thinking of all these events, how could she possibly marry the Emperor now?

Irritated, she swept off her head ornaments, they fell to the ground with a clatter, startling the maid responsible for dressing the Commandery Princess, who quickly knelt down.

”Commandery Princess!”

Just as Zhao Ya was about to speak, the door suddenly opened, and Ruyang King walked in, looking at the angry Commandery Princess and said, ”Did you two upset the Commandery Princess? Someone, drag them out and give them a flogging to death.”

”Ah, spare us, Your Highness, spare us.”

The two maids were terrified. At this moment, Zhao Ya also turned back to look at Ruyang King and said, ”Father, it’s not their fault, it’s my own foul mood.”

Ruyang King, hearing this, glanced at the two kneeling maids and said, ”Get out, and bring another set of head ornaments to serve the Commandery Princess for her dressing.”

After saying this, the two maids immediately agreed.

”Thank you, Your Highness, thank you, Commandery Princess.”

They knelt on the ground, packed up all the head ornaments scattered on the ground, and went to find other new head ornaments. The Prince Mansion lacked nothing but head ornaments, Zhao Ya could smash them as she pleased.

Ruyang King sat down and looked at Zhao Ya, saying, ”Yaya, I know your heart is set on that rebel Chen Jiu Si, but a rebel is ultimately a rebel, a lowly person.”

”Your Innate Phoenix Blood signifies you are destined to become the Empress, the wife of the most powerful man in this world. How could you talk marriage with a lowly person?”

”Yaya, don’t blame Father, Father is doing this for your own good.”

Ruyang King looked at Zhao Ya and said, ”Forget about Chen Jiu Si, assume he’s dead.”

”You, you sent someone to kill him!”

Zhao Ya had been staring calmly, but upon hearing Ruyang King’s words, her eyes widened, staring at Ruyang King.

Ruyang King said, ”There’s no need to look at me like that, yes, I did send someone to kill him, and unless something unexpected happens, he should already be dead by now.”

Zhao Ya furrowed her brows and said, ”Father, you are taking lives like grass!”
