Chapter 800: Chapter 216: Chen’s 94 Layout, Yelu Falls Into the Trap (10,000 Words Seeking Subscription)_5

”Oh, really?”

Zhou Chu looked at Yelu and asked. Yelu replied, ”Why would I lie to you? If, after you’ve burned Chen Jiusi’s grain, I can’t deliver new supplies, I’ll do whatever you say.”

Zhou Chu, hearing this, looked at Yelu and said, ”Lord, how much grain will you be transporting?”

Yelu looked at Zhou Chu and said, ”You don’t need to worry about that. The quantity will surely suffice, rest assured.”

Zhou Chu, after pondering these words, said, ”Alright, then, my lord, I’ll burn Chen Jiusi’s grain. However, regarding your promise to make me the Fishing Guild Leader, is it still valid?”

”Rest assured, once Chen Jiusi falls, you will be the Fishing Guild Leader.”

”Thank you, my lord. With this assurance, I am at ease. I will certainly burn the guild’s grain storage within the next couple of days.”

Upon hearing this, Yelu raised his cup and said, ”Then I wish you success on your first endeavor.”

Zhou Chu responded, ”I’ll accept your good wishes, my lord.”

The two raised their cups, toasted each other, and thus reached an agreement.

After eating and drinking to their satisfaction, Zhou Chu left through the side door. Watching him leave, the steward approached Yelu and said, ”Lord, do you think he’s sincerely loyal to you?”

Yelu responded with a chuckle, ”Whether genuine or feigned loyalty, it doesn’t matter. As long as he serves my purpose, it’s good enough.”

Hearing this, the steward said, ”Lord, you are wise.”

...

Meanwhile, Chen Jie was also summoned by the Commandery Princess to her residence.

”Chen Jiusi, at your service, Commandery Princess.”

The Commandery Princess looked at Chen Jie and said, ”Chen Jiusi, I’ve called you here for two reasons.”

”Please speak plainly, Commandery Princess.”

Chen Jie looked at the Commandery Princess, who said, ”Firstly, the things I promised you have arrived, including the elixir recipe for the Wolf Smoke Realm and the herbs you purchased. Additionally, here are eighty First Grade Tai Sui Pills.”

The Commandery Princess gestured to the items on the table.

Seeing this, Chen Jie’s eyes brightened, and he immediately stepped forward to pick up the elixir recipe from the table and began examining it.

[Warm Nourishing Pill]

Chen Jie first noted the name of the elixir, followed by the forty-eight auxiliary ingredients and three main ingredients listed beneath.

Chen Jie glanced over the auxiliary ingredients and found that he already had some of them. Many were precious herbs below the level of Energy Transformation, with some useful even for those in the Qi Blood Holding Core Realm.

Chen Jie possessed some of them and could gather others over time, which wasn’t too daunting a task.

The primary concern was the three main ingredients, which Chen Jie had never encountered before.

They were [True Spirit Grass], [Wolf Smoke Fruit], and [Jade Bamboo Root].

Chen Jie frowned as he looked at these herbs, as he had never heard of them before.

At this moment, Zhao Ya said, ”Why are you staring at me like that? These herbs are indeed very rare and hard to obtain.”

Chen Jie looked at Zhao Ya and said, ”Even the Commandery Princess can’t obtain them?”

Zhao Ya paused for a moment and said, ”I actually do have one of them.”

Chen Jie’s eyes lit up and he asked, ”Which one?”

Zhao Ya replied, ”True Spirit Grass!”

Chen Jie looked at the Commandery Princess and asked, ”If I give you all eighty Tai Sui Pills, could you give me this True Spirit Grass?”

Zhao Ya gently shook her head, ”I don’t lack Tai Sui Pills.”

Chen Jie frowned, and Zhao Ya then said, ”Let’s not talk about this now. I need to discuss something important with you.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Jie really wanted to say that the [True Spirit Grass] was important, but seeing the Commandery Princess’s anxious expression, he remained silent. He looked at Zhao Ya, who then said to Chen Jie, ”The matter of borrowing grain that Chen Jiusi discussed with you is likely to encounter some obstacles.”

Chen Jie looked at Zhao Ya and asked, ”What do you mean, Commandery Princess? Didn’t you get the grain?”

After a short silence, Zhao Ya replied, ”It’s not that we didn’t get any, but Ah San, you should explain to Jiusi.”

Ah San said, ”Yes, I went to Huangzhou Prefecture and met with the Young Prince. I explained our idea to borrow grain, and the Young Prince asked me to deliver a message to the Commandery Princess. Due to the Northern war, the grain from Huangzhou Prefecture has all been sent north. Huangzhou Prefecture also faces a grain shortage now, so it’s impossible to fill Mianshui County’s gap of 300,000 stones completely.”

”However, the Young Prince can’t just leave the Commandery Princess in difficulty. So he agreed to try to arrange something for the Commandery Princess, but at most, he can only provide 30,000 stones of grain and no more.”

Ah San explained the situation to Chen Jie, and Chen Jie looked at Ah San and said, ”So, Huangzhou Prefecture can only send 30,000 stones?”

Ah San replied, ”Yes, there’s no more from Huangzhou Prefecture.”

Chen Jie listened, his gaze intensifying, filled with worry. It’s a tough situation. Huangzhou’s 30,000 stones plus the 70,000 stones he personally holds, and the 50,000 stones held by various guilds and families in the city altogether, total only half of the promised amount, leaving them short by at least 150,000 stones.

Thinking of this, Chen Jie furrowed his brow. Zhao Ya, who stood beside him, feeling responsible because she had guaranteed the arrangement to Chen Jie, realized the enormity of the shortfall. Adding up all the grain within Mianshui County still leaves a huge gap.

Zhao Ya said, ”I will look for assistance in other prefectures.”

Chen Jie replied, ”Commandery Princess, with the Northern conflict, Huangzhou Prefecture being requisitioned for grain, other prefectures are likely in the same situation. Securing grain from them would be incredibly difficult!”

”These local officials care only for their profits, and with grain being so important now, even wielding connections may not secure adequate amounts of it for you, Commandery Princess.”

Zhao Ya sighed, ”I never expected the situation to be this severe.”

Chen Jie pondered and then said, ”Don’t worry, Commandery Princess, this is not without a solution.”

Upon hearing this, Zhao Ya looked at Chen Jie and asked, ”Jiusi, do you have a way to solve this?”

Chen Jie replied, ”There is a way, but the Commandery Princess would need to support it wholeheartedly.”

Zhao Ya said, ”That can be arranged. As long as we can save the people of this city, I’m willing to help you.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Jie clasped his hands in gratitude and said, ”The Commandery Princess is truly magnanimous.”
