Chapter 794: Chapter 215 Zhou Chu: Yes, Lord Yelu, I must oppose Chen Jiu 4_5

If this had happened in the past, Lady Sun would have long since started scolding, but Zhou Chu of today was not the Zhou Chu of before.

He was now the Foreign Affairs Hall Master of the Fishing Guild, holding a status comparable to the former Peng Shizhong; even Sun Bu’er dared not belittle her son-in-law. Naturally, Second Madam Sun no longer dared to bully Zhou Chu.

At this moment, Zhou Chu lay on the bed while a maid peeled off his wet clothes and replaced them with clean ones.

And then, it was announced that the doctor had arrived.

Lady Sun hastily asked the doctor to come and have a look, and after a quick glance, he said, ”This injury is quite serious; I’m afraid it will be difficult to get out of bed for ten days to half a month.”

Hearing this, Lady Sun once again complained, ”Chen Jiusi is too cruel in his actions. Now that he is the Gang Leader, has he forgotten that it was his brothers who lifted him to his position? Now he deals such a heavy blow.”

”Shut your mouth!”

Zhou Chu raised his head, his eyes filled with undeniable authority.

Lady Sun was immediately silenced; a person’s status within the family was hugely related to their social status.

The doctor came over, disinfected, and treated Zhou Chu’s wound on his buttocks, then said, ”Luckily, no bones were injured, just rest and recover should be sufficient.”

Lady Sun said, ”Thank you, doctor. Someone, see the doctor out.”

The doctor was quickly escorted out, and then Lady Sun looked at Zhou Chu and said, ”You fool, you got beaten up like this by Chen Jiusi, so why won’t you let me say a few words on your behalf?”

Zhou Chu looked at Lady Sun and replied, ”Heh, you’re a disgrace. I get hit a few times, and you want to yell and make a fuss?”

”Let me tell you, a dog that bites doesn’t bark. You ranting and raving like this, if Chen Jiusi finds out, wouldn’t he know you hold resentment in your heart? Remember, even if you harbor hatred, don’t speak it aloud, or it’s nothing but impotent rage.”

”Ah, husband, what do you mean by that? You’re not planning to betray the Gang Leader, no, Chen Jiusi, are you?”

Zhou Chu looked at Lady Sun and said, ”So what if I am?”

Lady Sun immediately said, ”No way, Zhou, have you lost your mind? Do you realize that everything you have today is thanks to Chen Jiusi’s help? Without him, you’d still be a useless son-in-law to the Sun Family, where would you get this prestige from!”

Zhou Chu said, ”He did help me, but I have given my all for him, and yet he struck me without any scruples; who am I now? His behavior is simply an intolerable insult! How can I not resist!”

Lady Sun said, ”This, this, husband, please don’t be foolish, you must not do this!”

Zhou Chu said, ”Stop meddling, that’s enough, there’s nothing for you here; help the lady rest.”

Zhou Chu gestured to the two maids beside him to help Lady Sun leave.

Lady Sun became anxious: ”Husband, you, you mustn’t commit such an act of ingratitude; otherwise, you’ll deeply regret it. If you’re angry, just curse him a couple of times, please don’t take any foolhardy actions!”

Zhou Chu waved his hand and said, ”Go on, take a rest, what would an old woman know!”

Watching his wife being helped away by the two maids, Zhou Chu’s brow furrowed deeply. After a short while, his housekeeper entered the room, looking secretive.

”Master, the words you said earlier were too intense. Even if the Gang Leader is in the wrong in a thousand ways, you mustn’t harbor thoughts you shouldn’t have.”

Zhou Chu glanced at the housekeeper and said, ”Heh, and why not? I, Zhou Chu, am not Chen Jiusi’s dog to be called and sent at his whim. Sooner or later, I shall take his place!”

Hearing this, the housekeeper’s eyes lit up, and he quickly said, ”Master, do you truly think so?”

Zhou Chu eyed him and asked, ”What’s with you? Planning to report me?”

The housekeeper replied, ”No, no, someone from Yelu Mansion came today wanting to see you, master. I hid him away, fearing you wouldn’t like it. Should I call him out to talk to you?”

Zhou Chu frowned and said, ”Yelu Mansion, this...”

He hesitated before the housekeeper promptly said, ”Master, just listen to what Yelu has to say. If the conditions are right, we don’t have to hang ourselves from a single tree, right?”

With that, Zhou Chu glanced at the housekeeper and said, ”Hmm, bring him in.”

The housekeeper immediately said, ”Yes...”

The housekeeper hurried off, and Zhou Chu’s face darkened, sure enough, as the Gang Leader had said; Yelu had long since planted spies in his house, and now they were restless.

Zhou Chu narrowed his eyes as he thought.

Betraying Chen Jiusi, he, Zhou Chu, would be out of his mind.

Although Zhou Chu’s abilities might not be the strongest, he was the one who best understood the situation and had the most self-awareness.

Why he was able to rise so rapidly.

To borrow a phrase from the future, when standing at the mouth of the wind, even a pig could fly.

The reason he had achieved his current status so quickly was no other than Chen Jiusi’s promotion; he had hitched a ride on the fast lane that was Chen Jiusi.

So to ask him to betray Chen Jie, not a chance.

All of that earlier had merely been an act.

And his own housekeeper being a problem was something Zhou Chu was well aware of. After all, Yelu never gave up on trying to plant spies in the homes of both Chen Jiusi and Zhou Chu.

Chen Jiusi’s attempts had not been successful.

But in Zhou Chu’s case, they had successfully turned a housekeeper.

And Zhou Chu had long since noticed, but Chen Jie told him not to rush into action, saying an obvious spy was a hundred times easier to deal with than one in hiding.

Hence the delay until now.

As Zhou Chu lay in bed, soon someone entered the room and greeted him with a bow, ”Master Zhou.”

Zhou Chu looked at him and said, ”You’re sent by the Yelu Sect?”

The person replied, ”My master sent me.”

”What for, to gloat at my misfortune?”

”No, no, my lord believes that Chen Jiusi has been too harsh on Master Zhou.”
