Chapter 699: Chapter 199 Chen Jiusi, Don’t Be Ungrateful_6

As he spoke, he stretched out his hand, snatched the roast chicken away, and turned to leave, but Su Yunjin said, ”Master, it seems you have forgotten something.”

The monk looked at Su Yunjin in surprise.

With a laugh, Su Yunjin said, ”Master, you just said all living beings are equal. Since that’s the case, logically speaking, one person should only have two buns and half a roast chicken. You ought to return the extra bun to us.”

”Hmm?”

”You, you want me to return the buns?”

The monk looked at Su Yunjin, his face full of astonishment.

”Master, all living beings are equal, and since that is the case, you should return them.”

Upon hearing this, the monk burst into laughter and said, ”Ha ha ha... It is indeed so, indeed it is. Young lady, your Buddhist nature is profound. Here, I’ll give the buns back to you.”

The monk thought for a moment, then fumbled in his pocket, pulling out a string of earthy yellow beads and said, ”Here, take this string of beads too.”

Su Yunjin, taken aback, looked at the beads in her hand and said, ”Master.”

The monk smiled and said, ”Sentient beings meet by fate, and rejoice together. Since we are fated, I give you these beads. They might be of use to you in times of danger.”

Su Yunjin took the earthy yellow beads, feeling their warmth and the solidity they gave.

Su Yunjin knew these were no ordinary beads, but when she looked up, the monk had already disappeared without a trace, leaving four buns in front of her.

”Master, Master?”

Su Yunjin searched around, but the monk was nowhere to be seen.

Xiao Hu came over and asked, ”Where did that crazy monk come from?”

Su Yunjin turned to Xiao Hu and said, ”This is not just some crazy monk.”

”This playboy monk, all crazy and asking for meat, clearly came to cause trouble.”

Upon hearing this, Xiao Hu said, and Su Yunjin looked at him, thinking of a phrase: lack of Buddhist nature.

There are people in this world who lack a Buddhist nature, who feel nothing towards Buddhism, but Su Yunjin knew this monk was no ordinary man.

After thinking for a moment, Su Yunjin said to Xiao Hu, ”Xiao Hu, take these Buddha beads to my husband and tell him that today we met a strange monk. I suspect this person is an expert in Small Mahayana Buddhism, a true master.”

Hearing this, Xiao Hu was taken aback and then said, ”Yes, sister-in-law, I’ll send someone right now to inform Jiu Si.”

After Xiao Hu had spoken, he immediately sent someone with the Buddha beads to report back to Chen Jie.

Meanwhile, Chen Jie at the Fish Guild had three unexpected visitors.

”Please, have a seat.”

Chen Jie poured three cups of tea for the three in front of him, who were not ordinary people; they were from the Zoroastrian Sect.

The one in charge was a local representative of the Zoroastrian Sect, Han He, accompanied by Han Lian, whom they hadn’t seen for a long time.

They also brought someone with them today, a person with a sinister face and an arrogant air.

This person was the Deputy Hall Master of the Zoroastrian Sect in Huangzhou Prefecture, a master in the Qi Blood Holding Core Realm, named Yu Mei Zi.

She should be over forty years old and had previously served as a maid for the Undying Bird Han Miaozhen, one of the Four Great Dharma Kings of the Zoroastrian Sect.

After Han Miaozhen was posted elsewhere, she became the Deputy Hall Master of the Zoroastrian Sect in Huangzhou Prefecture.

Due to her association with Han Miaozhen, she had developed an arrogant and willful nature...

Yu Mei Zi looked at the tea in front of her and said haughtily, ”So, you are the Chen Jiusi that He’er has repeatedly recommended to me!”

Chen Jie was taken aback and looked at Han He, who smiled without speaking.

Unexpectedly, Yu Mei Zi said, ”But seeing you today, you are nothing special. To join our Zoroastrian Sect is not easy; you need to strive to make significant contributions to the Holy Sect.”

Chen Jie was taken aback and looked at Han He.

Han He, too, was taken aback and looked at Yu Mei Zi, ”Uncle Master.”

”Don’t speak.”

Yu Mei Zi glared at Han He, who frowned, thinking, What nonsense is this uncle master talking? It’s as if Chen Jiusi is eagerly trying to join our Zoroastrian Sect.

Seeing Han He’s reaction, Chen Jie understood that it was probably just this deputy hall master’s own idea.

Chen Jie squinted his eyes at Yu Mei Zi and said, ”Oh, then I wonder what kind of contributions Yu Mei Zi thinks I should make?”

Upon hearing this, Yu Mei Zi laughed and said, ”Good, good, I heard that you have a good relationship with the Commandery Princess of the Dog Court, and you are also trying to enter the Medicine King Treasure.”

Chen Jie said, ”It seems nothing escapes your notice.”

”So much the better. In that case, I will give you a mission. There is a dangerous place in the Medicine King Treasure. It’s perilous even for those in the Holding Core Realm. Lead the Commandery Princess there, eliminate her, and I will accept you into our Holy Sect and appoint you as a protector. How about it?”

Chen Jie thought to himself, This damn deputy hall master really thinks I’m an idiot.

Eliminate the Commandery Princess and you’ll make me a protector?

Have you gone mad, or have I? Even if you offered me the position of Hall Master, I couldn’t do it. Chen Jie didn’t understand this idiot’s thought process; did he think he was so easily deceived as to agree to such a foolish idea for a damn protector position?

Chen Jie feigned difficulty and said, ”Ah, this is difficult. If I really killed the Commandery Princess, my base in Mianshui County could be destroyed in an instant!”

Yu Mei Zi chuckled lightly, ”Heh, what base do you have in Mianshui County? You’re just a small guild. If you join our Zoroastrian Sect, in the future you could become a founding lord of the new dynasty, possibly even a marquis or general. That would be much better than hiding in this small county.”

Chen Jie said, ”Then my wife, relatives, and brothers would also face difficulty, and they might even risk their lives.”

Yu Mei Zi said, ”For great achievements, wives and concubines are but encumbrances. It’s better to let them go. Once you succeed, what woman couldn’t you choose from?”

A cold glint flashed in Chen Jie’s eyes.

Yu Mei Zi then said, ”Young man, let me tell you, our Holy Sect doesn’t support the idle. You might only get this one chance to join the Holy Sect, so you had better seize it well. What do you say, do you accept my terms?”
