Chapter 692: Chapter 198 Garrison Commander: Commandery, Lord of the Commandery!_5

Zhao Ya nodded and said, ”Alright, the Medicine King Treasure will likely appear within this half month. When the time comes, come with me.”

Beside them, Liu Laoguai’s eyes lit up. He turned his head towards Zhao Ya and asked, ”Lord of the Commandery, may I accompany you to the Medicine King Treasure?”

Hearing this, Zhao Ya looked at Liu Laoguai and said, ”Hmm, Fire Attribute Skills? Sure!”

Upon hearing this, Liu Laoguai immediately bowed and said, ”Thank you, Lord of the Commandery.”

Liu Laoguai knew a bit about the Medicine King Treasure; it had opened once thirty years ago. At that time, he had followed his master, ferrying the great experts, and after those experts left the treasure, they had been quite generous with their rewards.

Liu Laoguai remembered that his master and himself had been tossed three Tai Sui Pills as a reward, and it was precisely with those pills that he had achieved his breakthrough in Energy Transformation and subsequently became the Gang Leader of Guild Cao.

One could say that this treasure had been his benefactor. If it weren’t for the treasure back then, he would not have the fortune he had today.

Therefore, when Zhao Ya mentioned that she was going to the Medicine King Treasure, Liu Laoguai immediately became interested.

Not far away, Qiao Hongyan also heard this conversation. Her eyebrows raised slightly. The Medicine King Treasure? These people were all aiming for the Medicine King Treasure!

This was troublesome. There had already been experts arriving in Huangzhou Prefecture these past two days in preparation for exploring the Medicine King Treasure. She hadn’t expected the court to fix its gaze on it directly as well; this complicated matters.

As she thought this, Qiao Hongyan looked towards Chen Jie. Perhaps she should seek an ally. It seemed that Chen Jiusi would be one of the key players in entering the treasure this time. If that was the case, why not join forces with him?

With this in mind, Qiao Hongyan planned to seek out Chen Jie once the experts from the Zoroastrian Sect arrived, to see if there was a chance for an alliance.

While everyone had their own schemes, the situation calmed down for the moment.

Soon after, everyone sat down and continued with the banquet. When the banquet ended, people left one after another, and Chen Jie had officially completed his inauguration ceremony as the Gang Leader.

The ceremony ended swiftly, taking barely an hour. The dignitaries of Mianshui were not really there to enjoy a feast, so plenty of food was left untouched on the tables.

Seeing this scene, the commoners gathered around.

Many of the children, staring at the delicious food on the tables, couldn’t help but drool uncontrollably.

It was not clear which disciple was first to share a roasted chicken with the children present, but word spread quickly, attracting a large crowd of locals.

After all, even the leftovers from such a grand feast surpassed what ordinary commoners ate for New Year’s.

Thus, more and more people congregated, and after the banquet, Su Yunjin saw this scene and said to Chen Jie, ”Husband, we can’t finish all these leftover dishes. Why don’t we distribute some to the commoners? Also, I see we’ve received new rice in our granary. Maybe we could distribute some of the old rice to the elderly as a gesture of goodwill from you as the new Gang Leader.”

Hearing Su Yunjin’s suggestion, Chen Jie said, ”Are we organizing a relief shelter?”

Su Yunjin nodded, ”Yes, a relief shelter.”

Chen Jie pondered for a moment and replied, ”Okay, let’s do as my wife suggests and provide relief.”

Chen Jie thought again and added, ”Hmm, since this idea came from you, wife, you shall be in charge of it.”

”Ah, me?”

Su Yunjin expressed her surprise, and Chen Jie affirmed, ”Yes, our child is about to be born. It will be like accumulating blessings for our child!”

Hearing this, Su Yunjin said, ”Alright, then, I’ll give it a try.”

Chen Jie reassured her, ”You can definitely do it.”

Having agreed on their plan, Chen Jie immediately arranged for people to help Su Yunjin with the relief work and the distribution of materials, while also dispersing the grand feast’s leftovers to build up a good reputation for himself.

Chen Jie made the arrangements quickly. Xiao Hu, along with the White Tiger Guards, was in charge of ensuring the wife’s safety, while personnel from the Four Happiness Inner Hall were responsible for distributing the items.

Once everything was ready, Su Yunjin went to distribute the supplies.

Chen Jie was just about to rest for a while when Chen Heng came in to report that Liu Laoguai wanted to see him.

Chen Jie was momentarily taken aback, thinking that Liu Laoguai hadn’t approached him during the banquet, so coming to see him privately must mean there was a pressing issue, perhaps even frightening.

Chen Jie instructed Chen Heng, ”Please invite Guild Leader Liu.”

Chen Heng promptly left and quickly returned, bowing to Chen Jie and announcing, ”Gang Leader, Guild Leader Liu has arrived.”

Liu Laoguai walked in as Chen Jie greeted him, ”Ah, Old Brother Liu, there’s no need for formalities. Please, have a seat.”

”Ah Tun, go fetch my treasured Puerh tea.”

”Yes.”

Chen Heng complied and immediately went to brew the tea. All the maids were helping Su Yunjin with distributing food supplies, so Chen Heng had to take on the task of making tea.

At this point, Liu Laoguai said, ”Jiu Si, there’s no rush for tea; I’ve come to you for a matter.”

Chen Jie, upon hearing this, looked at Liu Laoguai and said, ”Old Brother Liu, you and I have been through life and death together. Just speak your mind.”

Liu Laoguai responded, ”Jiu Si, are you also planning to enter the Medicine King Treasure?”

Hmm!

Chen Jie’s face showed a trace of surprise, followed by a question, ”Is this the reason you came to see me today, Old Brother Liu?”

Liu Laoguai confirmed, ”Indeed, what else could it be for? Jiu Si, you have such a great relationship with the Commandery Princess, I’m guessing she will definitely include you this time, right?”

Chen Jie hesitated for a moment and then said, ”Well, indeed, I am involved this time.”

Liu Laoguai stated, ”Jiu Si, just as you know, the Commandery Princess said she would take me too. It seems we might have to fight side by side again. The Medicine King Treasure is quite dangerous.”
