Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

”Dai Douli, a treasure hunter with a scar on his face from out of town?”

At the Yu Mansion, Yu Biao frowned.

His house servants all looked at Yu Biao nervously.

”Yes, master, we have visited the four villages: Upper Peach, Xiantao, Zhongtao, and Lower Peach.”

”Among them, the villagers of Upper Peach and Zhongtao Village said they had seen no such person come down from the mountain; only in Xiantao Village and Lower Peach Village did nearly everyone claim to have seen an outsider treasure hunter with a scar on his face wearing a Dai Douli.”

”I believe this matter cannot be without foundation, so I came to report to the master first.”

Upon hearing this, Yu Biao took a sip of tea, his gaze gradually sharpening.

He waved his hand, ”Hmm, you guys go down first. Oh, Li Si, you stay.”

”Yes.”

The house servants withdrew, leaving only Li Si, the chief of security.

”Master?”

Li Si looked at Yu Biao, who pointed to his desk. ”Go get the arrest warrant on my desk.”

”Yes, master.”

Li Si immediately fetched the arrest warrant from the desk, but his whole being froze as soon as his eyes landed on it.

Because there, conspicuously displayed, was a drawing of a wanted individual.

The portrait depicted a Jianghu hero, wearing a Dai Douli, with a scar on his face.

”[Ni Manzi, 29 years old, from Ding County, Huangzhou Prefecture, discontent with the court, joined an Evil Cult, murdered officials and rebelled, heinous in crime, hereby issued a sea arrest warrant. Whoever captures this man dead or alive shall be rewarded with a thousand taels of silver, and those who provide leads, with five taels. Special announcement by the Huangzhou Prefecture Government Office!]”

”This?”

Li Si looked at the arrest warrant, and then, in surprise, turned to Yu Biao.

”Hmm, what they reported fits closely with this person!”

Yu Biao contemplated as he looked at Li Si.

Li Si said, ”Are you suggesting that such a great thief has fallen to our Mianshui County?”

”Hmm, more or less, this arrest warrant is issued by the Headquarters.”

”Then, master, we must prepare more manpower, this man seems tough to handle!”

Yu Biao looked at Li Si in astonishment, ”Handle? Handle whom?”

”This criminal!”

”Heh...”

Yu Biao scoffed, ”You must not know what the word ’death’ means, do you? Do you know what this Ni Manzi has done?”

”What has he done?”

Yu Biao said, ”He murdered officials and rebelled! And he most likely joined an Evil Cult.”

”You mean the Zoroastrian Sect?”

Only then did Li Si understand.

The Zoroastrian Sect, a truly fearsome presence.

Since the establishment of the Daqian Empire by foreign tribes, there had been much suppression of the Han people, such as introducing a four-level system: First-class Mulan people, Second-class Colorful People, Third-class Northern Mixed Races, fourth-class Han people.

This level system translated to oppressive policies.

For example, depriving Han people of the right to participate in imperial examinations, instead using Han house slaves to govern the country.

That is, if you were well-read and wanted to be an official, the imperial exam was definitely not the way; you had to find a Mulan person to pledge loyalty to, have him take you as his house servant, to recommend you for an official position.

This move had completely severed the root of all scholars in the world.

Furthermore, there were many harsh policies, such as different laws applicable to the Mulan people and the Han people.

For example, if a Han person killed a Mulan person, they had to pay with their life, and it might even implicate their relatives. However, if a Mulan person killed a Han person, they did not have to pay with their life, but only needed to compensate with a donkey.

Just think about it, to what extent the Han people were oppressed.

But as the saying goes, where there is oppression, there is resistance.

And the uprisings by the Han people never ceased, among which the most formidable was the Zoroastrian Sect of the Northern region.

The members of this cult often wore red headscarves and thus were called the Red Turban Army by the Han people, and were repeatedly referred to as red ghosts by the Mulan people.

To stabilize the regions, the court once again transferred some power to the locals, allowing the sects to help the Mulan people’s Darugachi govern the regions, indirectly granting privileges to Martial Artists.

This had led to the current situation, reaching the so-called national policy of the Daqian Empire’s ”Han System to Govern Han.”

However, these guilds inherently possessed the trait of double-dealers and often performed acts of open allegiance but secret opposition.

The Zoroastrian Sect was truly a rebellious organization that fiercely opposed the Daqian Empire, so local guilds generally pretended not to see it unless it involved their own interests; otherwise, no one wanted to provoke this group of madmen.

Yu Biao glanced at the arrest warrant and then sighed, saying, ”Notify everyone, stop investigating the Red-eyed Golden Chicken matter.”

”Ah, Master, shouldn’t we check it a bit more? After all, just because someone wears a Dai Douli and has a scar on their face, doesn’t necessarily mean they are Ni Manzi. What if someone is impersonating him or even intentionally spreading false information?”

Li Si reluctantly raised his doubts.

Yu Biao pondered for a moment before speaking, ”No need to investigate.”

”It’s just a thirty-year-old Golden Chicken, not worth offending the fierce members of the Zoroastrian Sect. As for your concerns about impersonation or spreading false information, well, this arrest warrant has only been circulated within the two major guilds of Mianshui County. That means, in the entire Xiantao Town, only Wu Zhong and I know about this matter!”

”So the only ones who could have spread the information are the two of us; I definitely didn’t do it, so that means it is very likely him.”

”Now the question is, even if you know he’s the one spreading the information, what can you do?”

”Or, even if you know the Golden Chicken was stolen by him, can you snatch it back?”

Yu Biao rubbed his temples and said, ”Alright, let’s leave this matter as it is. Next, your most important task is to find that Bull Horn Shrimp lurking in Mianshui. The medicinal power of that fish is not weaker than the Red-eyed Golden Chicken.”

”Yes, Master, our boats have been dredging for three days now, and yesterday we caught a grass carp with a huge hole in it. The old fisherman judged that it was struck by the Bull Horn Shrimp; we should be very close to it now.”

”Good, make sure you focus on this matter; the election for the Village Chief is due in just over a month!”

Hearing this, Li Si nodded.

Yu Biao then said, ”By the way, has San Liu been causing any trouble lately?”

”No, young master has been very well-behaved!”

Yu Biao said, ”When you have time, talk to him. Now is not the time to pick a fight with Wu Zhong. Tell him to restrain himself a bit; Xiantao Town isn’t yet a place where we can do whatever we please.”

”Yes, Master, I’ll advise the young master.”

Li Si responded.

Meanwhile, in San Liu’s courtyard, San Liu was lying on a recliner, squinting his eyes. A beautiful woman beside him was peeling lychees and gently placing them into his mouth. He ate a lychee, his face expressing enjoyment

He then looked at the butler and asked: ”Has Ma Liu been found yet?”

The butler responded, ”No, we’ve been searching all morning. Master, could he have run away?”

San Liu said, ”Run where? Keep searching.”

”Yes.”

The butler replied, and just at that moment, a rush of hurried footsteps sounded.

”Young, Master, something terrible has happened... Ma, Ma Liu is dead!”

”What!”

San Liu sprang up, standing abruptly!
