Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Actually, as soon as Chen Jie got up, Su Yunjin heard the commotion.

For more than a year now, Su Yunjin had slept very lightly, fearing that Chen Jie might suddenly barge in and harm her and Ruirui.

Although there was no such worry now, the habit remained.

Therefore, as soon as Chen Jie started practicing martial arts in the courtyard, she heard the rustling of footsteps on the ground and the sound of fists cutting through the air, accompanied by the noise of his clothes.

Moreover, Chen Jie carelessly stepped on a tile in the courtyard, making a loud noise, which made Su Yunjin wonder if a thief had broken in, so she opened the window to take a look.

She saw Chen Jie practicing boxing under the moonlight.

In the moonlight, the man in the linen clothes looked determined, stepping forward and punching into the moonlight. The punches brought a whooshing wind sound, with a stable footing, he moved forward with rubbing steps, shifting his center of gravity, his movements strong and vigorous, like a fierce tiger.

After a while, sweat poured down like rain, but the man’s eyes held only determination, as every punch and kick was delivered with full force.

*This punch was a dedication to success, the next punch a rebellion against the injustices of fate, and another punch was a protection of the family he loved.*

Watching the man work so hard on his boxing, Su Yunjin’s eyes became moist.

She had seen the worst side of Chen Jie; he was a drunken gambler, a demon on earth.

And now, looking at him, he seemed like a different person, a figure filled with hope for life and the future.

He was a figure worth relying on.

*Was he practicing boxing for this family, for herself?*

*Su Yunjin asked herself inwardly, previously she thought it was impossible that it was for her, but now, his change brought a hint of sweetness to her heart, it was for her, wasn’t it?*

*Unconsciously, she became dazed.*

Looking at Ruirui on the bed, hugging a pillow and sleeping soundly, and the man practicing boxing outside in the courtyard, she felt like life seemed so beautiful.

*The setting sun in her heart, which had already descended, rose once again.*

”Why are you not sleeping so late?”

Just as Su Yunjin was in a daze, a deep voice suddenly sounded in her ear, along with the strong scent of a man after exercising.

Su Yunjin almost went weak.

”Not by my ear.”

Su Yunjin covered her ears, her face blushing, and Chen Jie laughed, realizing her ears were sensitive.

”Why are you not sleeping so late?”

Chen Jie asked her, and Su Yunjin retorted, ”Why are you not sleeping?”

Chen Jie couldn’t tell her he was preparing to kill Ma Liu, so he came up with an excuse and said, ”Today, I was at Doctor Bai’s house, and Wu Hong, who practices martial arts with Chief Zhang from the county, was also there. He taught me a set of boxing moves and even said I had great talent, encouraging me to practice diligently, as I have the potential to become a Martial Artist.”

”A Martial Artist!”

Su Yunjin was taken aback!

Even someone born into a scholarly family like her knew that Martial Artists were the masters of this world.

And her scholarly family held value only in the former dynasty.

Because back in the former dynasty, it was the Imperial Family and scholars who ruled the land, scholars who could suppress martial artists, and Great Scholars who overshadowed strongmen.

At that time it was said, ”Only those who proclaimed their names outside the East Gate were good lads.”

But since the fall of the former dynasty, the status of Martial Artists had risen sharply, with foreign invasions severing the heritage of the Great Scholars from the previous dynasty.

Now, Martial Artists were the good lads, while scholars, not so valuable, with her family, who held a scholarly status of the former dynasty, barely able to retain a few acres of land and survive in rural areas.

So being a Martial Artist was absolutely the only chance to defy and change one’s fate.

Becoming a Martial Artist would increase court tax revenues and create more wealth opportunities, even enhancing social status.

For example, the entire Xiantao Town visibly had only two Martial Artists, one being Yu Biao from the gambling house, and the other being Wu Zhong from the fishery.

And Chen Jie said he hoped to become a Martial Artist, which was truly a means to rise!

Equivalent to passing the Scholar exams in the former dynasty!

”Hm, Wu Hong said I had good Talent, and with diligent practice, I would surely achieve something!”

”That’s great, husband, you’re amazing, ...”

Su Yunjin looked at Chen Jie, and Chen Jie looked at her. Their gazes met, and an ambiguous atmosphere emerged between them.

”Wife, with a husband this amazing, don’t you want to reward him?”

Su Yunjin blushed and said, ”You, you, what do you want?”

”You tell me, what does your husband want?”

Chen Jie looked at Su Yunjin with a gaze full of aggression, and the woman instinctively closed her eyes and pressed her lips together, as if she already knew what Chen Jie wanted to do.

Chen Jie leaned over, slowly approaching.

He could even see the woman’s eyelashes trembling nervously, *women in this world were really nice, pure*...

As their lips got closer and closer, Su Yunjin could already feel Chen Jie’s rough breathing, her mind going blank, as if it had come to a halt.

Chen Jie was already so close to Su Yunjin’s lips that he could feel her gentle breath.

”Sis...I want some pork bits.”

Suddenly, Ruirui’s voice came through, startling Su Yunjin, causing her to shiver and open her eyes. Chen Jie seized this chance and quickly pecked her on the lips as their gazes met.

Su Yunjin was flushed!

Ugh, ugh...

Just as Chen Jie was about to pry her teeth open, Su Yunjin came to her senses and weakly pushed the man away.

”Don’t let Ruirui see, it’s so embarrassing.”

Chen Jie looked at her demeaningly and knew he couldn’t be too forceful, otherwise, it would backfire. With the kiss already given, how could this swan fly away?

But that little daisy!

Chen Jie suddenly found that this adorable little daisy was a bit of an eyesore.

Thinking to himself, Chen Jie stroked his chin. If this little one had a maternal family, he could send her back for two days. Even one day, and he could handle the important business!

Unfortunately, thinking again, he gave up. It wouldn’t work. This little one was alone, with no support, orphaned by her parents!

Chen Jie looked at Su Yunjin with a serious face.

Su Yunjin also knew he felt dissatisfied, and she herself felt at a loss...

”Wife, I have something to discuss with you.”

Su Yunjin looked over.

Chen Jie said very seriously, ”Ruirui is already five years old this year; she’s a big kid now and should learn to sleep by herself...”

Upon hearing this, Su Yunjin looked at Ruirui and said, ”Actually, her birthday is still a month away, and she only officially turns five afterward.”

Chen Jie said, ”Actually, four years old is not too young either. She should also sleep by herself, right...”

Upon hearing this, she couldn’t help but laugh and said, ”What are you arguing about with a child?”

Chen Jie’s face turned cold deliberately, and he said, ”This child spoils my plans, she must sleep in a separate bed!”

Su Yunjin looked at the childlike Chen Jie and comforted him, ”Alright, alright, I understand, give me some time, will you? I still need to prepare.”

Chen Jie asked, ”Prepare for what?”

Su Yunjin lightly bit her lips and said nothing.

Seeing her look so troubled, Chen Jie realized he was pushing a bit hard, but he was also puzzled in his heart, after a year of marriage, how could it still be like this?

But he still said, ”Okay, wife, I won’t push you. It’s only 1 a.m. now, you should get some more sleep.”

Chen Jie gently closed the window, leaving Su Yunjin alone...
