Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

The Chen family had a large bowl of fragrant rabbit meat in front of Chen Jie, its greasy sheen tempting anyone who gazed upon it.

Across the table sat Su Yunjin and Ruirui Su Yunrui.

At that moment, little Daisy’s eyes were fixed on the rabbit meat in front of Chen Jie, unable to look away for even a moment, swallowing saliva desperately but not daring to extend her chopsticks for a taste.

She still remembered being slapped twice and going hungry for a day because she had eaten her brother-in-law’s scrambled eggs before.

Now, no matter how much she craved, she didn’t dare to eat.

At this moment, Su Yunjin broke a wild vegetable bun in half for Daisy, taking the other half for herself, while placing the rest in front of Chen Jie. In fact, Su Yunjin ate very little. In the past, Chen Jiusi had said she was wasteful.

He only allowed her to eat half a wild vegetable bun every day, and it was one with more wild vegetables than sorghum flour.

Little Daisy held the wild vegetable bun, yet her eyes couldn’t move away. She took a large bite of it while silently thinking to herself, *”Rabbit meat isn’t tasty, it’s sour, it’s sour...”*

Ruirui muttered while Su Yunjin lowered her head to eat her wild vegetable bun, yet she did not touch the braised rabbit meat in front of Chen Jie.

This was a rule set by Chen Jiusi in the past, where all the good food in the house could only be eaten by him, the head of the family, and only the leftovers could be eaten by Ruirui and Su Yunjin.

Chen Jie sighed and reached out to Daisy. She was startled. Could one even be beaten for just looking?

Frightened, her little face turned pale, but the slap she imagined did not come down.

When she opened her eyes, she found her bowl of rice was gone. Daisy almost cried out, thinking, *”It’s over, the terrible brother-in-law isn’t letting me eat again.”*

But the next unexpected thing happened. Before the Su sisters’ puzzled and shocked eyes, Chen Jie transferred a third of the full bowl of rabbit meat in front of him into Daisy’s bowl.

He then took Su Yunjin’s bowl and put another third of the rabbit meat into it.

After doing this, he placed the bowls in front of the two sisters under their astonished gaze. They looked at Chen Jie, bewildered.

Chen Jie knew that explanations wouldn’t work, so he said in a commanding tone, ”Eat it all.”

The two sisters looked at Chen Jie in surprise, while he didn’t explain further. Instead, he opened his mouth wide and started eating, taking a bite of the rabbit meat, which had a slight gamey taste. The house had no spices. If there were some spices to parboil it, the taste might have been more delicious.

However, this body might not have had any fatty food for such a long time. Even with a slight gamey taste, it was extraordinarily delicious!

The two sisters still looked at him in disbelief.

”Why are you staring at me? Eat!”

Chen Jie spoke up.

It was then that Daisy couldn’t help but swallow and asked, ”Sister, brother-in-law, can I really eat it?”

Chen Jie laughed, ”Nonsense, I’m telling you to eat, so eat it. I am letting you.”

”Then, then I’ll eat it.”

Daisy could no longer hold back. She took a bite of the rabbit meat, and the aroma immediately bewildered her.

*It was so delicious!*

Daisy’s tears began to fall, but she continued to huddle her body, suspecting that the bad brother-in-law was deliberately toying with her, just waiting for her to eat so he could have an excuse to hit her.

But the slap she imagined did not fall. When she opened her eyes, she saw Chen Jie watching her with a smile. ”Is it tasty?” he asked.

”Mm-hmm.”

Daisy nodded, and Chen Jie said, ”Then eat more. We still have another bowl of meat.”

Upon hearing this, Daisy’s eyes lit up, and without caring for anything else, she continued to eat heartily, glancing at Chen Jie, and suddenly felt that this brother-in-law might not be as bad as before.

Su Yunjin didn’t pick up her chopsticks, her expression somewhat unusual as she looked at Chen Jie.

Chen Jie asked, ”What are you looking at? Do you think your husband is more handsome now? Hurry up and eat.”

”Yes, sister, hurry and eat. It’s delicious...”

Su Yunjin hesitated for a long time before eventually picking up her chopsticks to eat the rabbit meat, albeit cautiously, seeming not quite used to Chen Jie’s sudden change.

However, Daisy didn’t care about these things and quickly finished the meat in her bowl. Seeing this, Su Yunjin then shoveled the meat from her own bowl into Daisy’s.

Although her bowl now had little meat left, Chen Jie noted this and replenished Su Yunjin’s bowl with a few pieces of meat from his own. Su Yunjin wanted to give it to Daisy, but Chen Jie stopped her. ”Eating too much meat all at once is not good.”

Upon hearing this, Su Yunjin stopped her actions and obediently ate the meat in her bowl.

A bowl of meat and three wild vegetable buns later, Chen Jie was full. Though not very tasty, it wasn’t bad. Patting his stomach, Chen Jie looked at the satisfied Daisy and asked, ”Was it good?”

”Yes.”

”Good. I’ll make sure to get you more meat in the future, okay?”

”Okay.”

It seemed like Daisy had already forgotten about Chen Jie’s ’scary’ side.

Meanwhile, Su Yunjin had finished the meat in her bowl and, looking up with slight worry, said, ”What about Lu San?”

Chen Jie replied, ”I told you, it’s nothing, just a ruffian.”

After saying this, Chen Jie looked at Su Yunjin and said, ”By the way, Yunjin, do you remember if I have a yellowed old book with the words ’Yang Chun Skill’ written on it?”

Upon hearing these words, Su Yunjin nodded and said, ”Yes.”

”Really? Show it to me.”

Chen Jie said excitedly. Su Yunjin hesitated for a moment, then got up and retrieved a bundle from the cabinet. Within it was a pile of old books.

Back when their family was driven out of the big house, Su Yunjin didn’t take anything else but brought these old books with her.

Su Yunjin came from a scholarly family and valued these books more than money.

Chen Jie walked over and saw that most of them were medical books and various case studies—his maternal grandfather’s life’s work.

*Unfortunately, the wasteful young man had no appreciation for these intangible treasures,* Chen Jie thought to himself, especially when he saw that the cover of the Yang Chun Skill was torn, and even had soup stains on it.

Back when they came to this house, the family table was wobbly, and Chen Jie used this Yang Chun Skill as a table wedge. It was only when Su Yunjin saw it, feeling distressed, that she took it back.

Chen Jie really admired the foolishness of his previous self. His behavior was akin to selling antiques as junk, no wonder they say wealth doesn’t last three generations—there’s a reason for it.

Chen Jie took the Yang Chun Skill, simultaneously keeping these medical books, and began to study earnestly under Su Yunjin’s astonished gaze.

When explaining his unusual behavior to Su Yunjin, he said, ”Learning the skills of an educated family, so that in the future, I can have a way to earn a living. Otherwise, how would I support you two sisters?”

Su Yunjin didn’t quite believe in Chen Jie’s seemingly determined act to turn over a new leaf and was watching closely.

After the meal, Chen Jie began to seriously read the Yang Chun Skill, while Su Yunjin went to wash the dishes and clean the stove. Meanwhile, Daisy, holding her belly, grabbed a small stool to sit by the door, where there was an anthill.

Daisy loved watching ants move their homes. These little ants were her best playmates and a small snack.

Yes, sometimes when Daisy was extremely hungry, she would secretly eat a few straggling ants. Their taste was sour, quite tasty.

Nonetheless, Daisy controlled herself, eating no more than three a day...no more...
