Reverend Insanity: Dream Gu

Lin Yan suppressed the urge to begin immediately. Flame Sovereign Blessed Land already contained nearly two hundred immortal resource points and ten giant resource points. Constructing Endless Fire Domain on the scale of a super resource point would place an enormous burden on the blessed land and could even affect the stability of his existing resource points. It would be better to wait until he advanced to Rank Seven. By then, Flame Sovereign Blessed Land would expand considerably, giving him enough space to properly arrange the nine layers of Endless Fire Domain.

Putting the matter aside, Lin Yan continued examining the inheritance and soon discovered something that did not make sense.

Fire Thunder Divine Lord had suffered devastating injuries while fighting several powerful enemies, and even his grotto-heaven had been damaged beyond recovery. By the time he arranged this inheritance, he was already approaching the end of his life. After paying such a heavy price, how could he still leave behind so many high-rank immortal materials?

What Lin Yan had obtained already surpassed the accumulated fortune of most peak Rank Seven Gu Immortals.

He searched through the cultivation knowledge Zhong Yi had received and soon found the answer.

Rank Eight immortal killer move, Thunder Fire Reverse Refinement.

Fire Thunder Immortal Gu and Thunder Vein Immortal Gu served as the two main cores of this killer move. Instead of using immortal materials to refine Gu, Thunder Fire Reverse Refinement reversed the process. It broke down dao marks and refined them into Flame Path and Thunder Path immortal materials.

The method of preserving the five Immortal Gu within the inheritance was derived from this killer move. Fire Thunder Divine Lord had slowly reverse-refined them over the years, allowing their ranks to fall while extracting part of their dao marks as immortal materials. This was why the five Immortal Gu had survived for so long despite being left without anyone to feed them.

Before his death, Fire Thunder Divine Lord had used the same Killer Move upon his own grotto-heaven.

The grotto-heaven was already beyond saving. Once he died and the aperture collapsed, the dao marks he had accumulated throughout his life would eventually disperse into the outside world. Rather than leave everything to perish with him, Fire Thunder Divine Lord exhausted the remaining Origin of his grotto-heaven and activated Immortal killer move Thunder Fire Reverse Refinement.

Resource points were dismantled, Fire Veins and Thunder Veins were broken apart, and the dao marks accumulated throughout the grotto-heaven were reverse-refined into immortal materials. By the time the process ended, almost everything that could still be extracted from the dying grotto-heaven had been gathered together and placed inside the true inheritance.

This was where most of the Flame Path and Thunder Path immortal materials before Lin Yan had come from.

Fire Thunder Divine Lord had not created this Killer Move merely to prepare for his death. During his lifetime, whenever he killed a Flame Path or Thunder Path Gu Immortal and obtained their immortal aperture, Thunder Fire Reverse Refinement allowed him to strip apart the dao marks inside and turn them into immortal materials. The higher the cultivation of the dead Gu Immortal, the greater the gains.

Those materials could feed his Immortal Gu, replenish his resource points, or be used for further refinement. Even the immortal aperture of a fallen enemy could be squeezed dry instead of being left behind.

Lin Yan finally understood why Fire Thunder Divine Lord had attracted so many enemies during his later years.

”With a method like this, it’s no wonder they wanted him dead.”

Lin Yan was left somewhat speechless. Thunder Fire Reverse Refinement could turn the cultivation accumulated within a dead Gu Immortal’s aperture directly into usable resources. For a loose cultivator without the support of a super force, such a method was extremely useful for accumulating wealth. At the same time, anyone who learned of this killer move would inevitably become wary of Fire Thunder Divine Lord. After all, no Gu Immortal wanted to become immortal material for another person’s cultivation.

After collecting everything, Lin Yan returned Zhong Yi and Divine Firmament Thunder Pool to Flame Sovereign Blessed Land. He then flew upward through the river and quickly left Fire Thunder River.

The battle against the seven lightning-fire true dragons had caused too much disturbance to conceal completely. Several sections of the riverbed had collapsed, while flames and lightning continued surging through the water, making the already turbulent Fire Thunder River even more violent.

Such a disturbance naturally could not remain hidden from the Xia Family and Ba Family for long.

Not long after Lin Yan erased his traces and departed, two streaks of light approached from opposite directions. A Xia Family Gu Immortal and a Ba Family Gu Immortal arrived above the damaged section of Fire Thunder River almost simultaneously.

Their attention first fell upon the devastated river below before shifting toward each other. Neither knew what had happened, and neither could exclude the possibility that the other clan was involved. However, there was no reason to provoke a conflict before understanding the situation, so after exchanging a few words, the two entered the river to investigate together.
