Reverend Insanity: Dream Gu

Fire Thunder Divine Lord was a Rank Eight Gu Immortal who cultivated Flame Path primarily and Thunder Path secondarily. If Lin Yan could find his Dream Realm and explore it completely, his attainments in both paths would rise tremendously, surpassing anything several ordinary Immortal Gu could offer.

With this thought, Lin Yan stopped holding back. Raging Flames Engulfing the Body and Myriad Flames Return to Origin were activated one after another, continuously stripping away the flames that formed the lightning-fire true dragon. Without those flames to maintain its body, the dragon’s aura rapidly weakened until it could no longer remain intact.

Its enormous body finally collapsed into crimson flames and purple lightning, revealing a spherical Immortal Gu floating at its center. The Gu was crimson throughout, roughly the size of a millstone, with countless tiny pits covering its surface.

Lin Yan immediately seized it and examined it carefully. It was Rank Six Fire Star Immortal Gu, a rare Immortal Gu containing the profundities of both Flame Path and Star Path.

After storing Fire Star Immortal Gu, Lin Yan turned toward Zhong Yi. The child had already recovered from his daze, although the enormous amount of information suddenly forced into his mind had clearly left him confused.

”Master, there’s a true inheritance inside my head. There’s too much information... I can’t remember all of it clearly, and I don’t know how to explain it.”

”You don’t need to explain it.” Lin Yan placed a hand on his shoulder. ”Don’t resist my Gu worms. I’ll examine it myself.”

Longing Immortal Gu activated together with hundreds of supporting Gu worms, forming the Wisdom Path Immortal killer move Collective Wisdom. Zhong Yi’s scattered thoughts gradually became clearer, allowing Lin Yan to directly examine the knowledge he had just received.

It did not take long for Lin Yan to understand the portion of the inheritance Zhong Yi had obtained.

There were no Gu worms or physical resources in this portion. Instead, it contained Fire Thunder Divine Lord’s cultivation knowledge, experiences, and understanding accumulated throughout his life as a Rank Eight Gu Immortal. Among the inheritances Lin Yan currently possessed, only the Thieving Heaven True Inheritance clearly surpassed it in depth.

There were numerous Immortal Gu recipes and Immortal killer moves covering both Flame Path and Thunder Path, along with methods for constructing resource points and managing the resources required for cultivation. Fire Thunder Divine Lord had also preserved his experiences from different stages of his life, including the problems he encountered while cultivating two paths and the methods he developed to overcome them.

More importantly, this portion contained a detailed explanation of the inheritance ground itself.

Fire Thunder Divine Lord’s grotto-heaven had suffered devastating damage during his final battles and was already approaching destruction. Knowing that he could no longer preserve it, he removed nearly everything of value before his death and used those resources to arrange this inheritance beneath the Fire Thunder River.

The complete inheritance was divided into nine portions, corresponding to the nine lightning-fire true dragons on the gate. One contained Fire Thunder Divine Lord’s cultivation knowledge and experiences, while the remaining eight contained Fire Thunder Immortal Gu, Thunder Vein Immortal Gu, Nine Dragons Lightning Flame Immortal Gu, Fire Star Immortal Gu, Fire Calamity Immortal Gu, white litchi immortal essence, immortal essence stones, and the various immortal materials he had accumulated.

Five Immortal Gu had therefore been preserved within the inheritance. The most valuable among them was undoubtedly Fire Thunder Immortal Gu, which had originally been Rank Eight.

Fire Thunder Divine Lord cultivated Flame Path primarily and Thunder Path secondarily. Normally, the conflict between the dao marks of two paths would greatly restrict such cultivation, but Fire Thunder Immortal Gu provided him with a way around this problem. It could convert Flame Path dao marks into Thunder Path dao marks and Thunder Path dao marks into Flame Path dao marks, allowing him to switch between the two paths and greatly reduce the problems caused by their conflicting dao marks.

Thunder Vein Immortal Gu served a different purpose. Together with Fire Thunder Immortal Gu and the formation left behind by Fire Thunder Divine Lord, it connected the entire inheritance to the Fire Vein and Thunder Vein beneath the river. All nine portions were buried within these two dao veins, which explained why the inheritance had remained hidden for so long despite lying between the territories of two super forces.

Under normal circumstances, there was almost nothing to discover. Only during the Great Era, when the earth veins became restless and the Five Regions underwent enormous changes, would the Fire Vein and Thunder Vein become unstable enough to force parts of the inheritance toward the surface.

The numerous Flame Path and Thunder Path mortal Gu born throughout this section of Fire Thunder River were also connected to the inheritance.

Fire Thunder Divine Lord had known that his inheritance might remain undiscovered for an extremely long time. Immortal Gu needed to be fed, and even the resources accumulated by a Rank Eight Gu Immortal could not sustain several high-rank Immortal Gu forever. More importantly, even if a descendant eventually arrived, suddenly inheriting several Rank Eight Immortal Gu would bring feeding requirements far beyond what most Gu Immortals could support.

His solution was to gradually reverse-refine them. If no inheritor appeared, the inheritance formation would slowly lower the ranks of the Immortal Gu sealed within it. The process took an extremely long time, but with every reduction in rank, their feeding requirements also decreased. In this way, the resources Fire Thunder Divine Lord had left behind could sustain them for far longer.

The dao marks removed during this process were not simply wasted. Through the Fire Vein and Thunder Vein, it slowly spread into the surrounding environment. Over countless years, these accumulated traces changed this section of the river and encouraged the natural formation of large numbers of Flame Path and Thunder Path mortal Gu worms.

Lin Yan finally understood why Fire Thunder River possessed such an unusual environment despite never producing anything valuable enough for the Xia Family or Ba Family to occupy it.

It was partly the result of an inheritance that had been quietly weakening itself for countless years.

Even Lin Yan had to admire Fire Thunder Divine Lord’s arrangement. He had found a way to preserve his Immortal Gu, reduce the burden placed upon his future inheritor, and make use of the lost dao marks during their reverse refining instead of allowing it to disappear for nothing.

The method was truly ingenious.
