Reverend Insanity: Dream Gu

After plundering three of the Mo Family’s giant resource points, the resentment in Lin Yan’s heart had eased considerably.

At the same time, he understood that the enmity between them had become impossible to resolve. He had killed and captured their Gu Immortals, while also seizing three giant resource points that the Mo Family had spent generations developing. There was nothing left to negotiate. From now on, both sides would naturally use whatever methods they possessed against the other. It simply depended on who would emerge victorious in the end.

Just then, Lin Yan suddenly sensed a powerful Wisdom Path deduction attempting to trace his location. His defensive killer move reacted immediately, and his green grape immortal essence began rapidly depleting. Nearly a hundred beads disappeared with every breath as the invisible deduction repeatedly pressed against his defenses.

”They came quickly.”

Lin Yan was slightly surprised but remained unconcerned. His Rank Seven Wisdom Path defensive killer move, with Startling Divinity Immortal Gu as its core, was more than capable of resisting such a deduction. Even if several Wisdom Path Gu Immortals joined together, they would still need considerable time to overcome it.

Sure enough, not long afterward, the force of the deduction slowly weakened before disappearing entirely

Before leaving Western Desert, however, Lin Yan still had one more place to visit: the location of the second Wisdom Path true inheritance, Split Divinity True Inheritance. Since obtaining Startling Divinity Immortal Gu, he had become increasingly curious about the relationship between the two inheritances. If Startling Divinity and Split Divinity had truly originated from the same inheritance, combining their methods might produce effects far beyond what either could achieve alone.

Several days later, Lin Yan arrived at a secluded cave hidden within Wan Family territory. Following the information he possessed, he successfully found Old Man Split Divinity’s true inheritance without encountering any trouble. Unfortunately, after examining what remained inside, Lin Yan was left deeply disappointed.

Old Man Split Divinity had suffered a severe backlash during cultivation in his later years. Although his battle strength increased greatly afterward, his mind became increasingly unstable, eventually causing him to offend several super forces. After suffering devastating injuries under their joint attack, he managed to escape with his life, but his lifespan was already nearing its end.

The true inheritance had been left behind during this final period. By then, Old Man Split Divinity’s mind was already in chaos, and he had no time to carefully arrange everything he had learned throughout his life. What remained inside the cave was therefore extremely disordered. Complete methods were mixed together with broken thoughts, unfinished deductions, and fragments of memories that no longer connected properly.

His immortal aperture and Immortal Gu were nowhere to be found. Only a skeleton remained inside the cave. After being nourished by Wisdom Path dao marks for many years, even the crystal-clear bones had transformed into Wisdom Path immortal materials. More importantly, dozens of thoughts still lingered within the skull, preserving scattered portions of his inheritance.

Lin Yan carefully examined them and soon relaxed.

”Fortunately, the important parts survived.”

The complete recipes of Split Divinity Immortal Gu from Rank Six to Rank Eight remained intact, together with the main killer moves built around it. The inheritance was chaotic, but Lin Yan was now a Wisdom Path Grandmaster. Sorting through the scattered thoughts, removing useless fragments, and reconstructing incomplete information was troublesome rather than truly difficult.

As he slowly pieced the inheritance together, Lin Yan also discovered what had caused Old Man Split Divinity to suffer such a severe backlash during his later years.

Compared with Startling Divinity Immortal Gu, the killer moves centered around Split Divinity Immortal Gu carried much greater risks. Among them, the most important was the Immortal killer move Split Soul Spirit. This move separated part of the user’s thoughts together with a fragment of their soul, allowing the separated portion to slowly develop into an independent clone. The clone could think for itself, cultivate independently, accumulate its own experiences, and act far away from the main body.

The problem appeared as these experiences accumulated. A clone that lived independently for decades or even centuries would inevitably develop its own thoughts, desires, and habits, slowly becoming different from the main body. The greater the difference became, the more difficult it was to maintain harmony between them. Once several clones began producing conflicting thoughts at the same time, the connection that originally allowed them to share information could instead disturb the main body’s mind.

Old Man Split Divinity had possessed Killer Move for Split Soul Spirit, but lacked the other half necessary to stabilize what had been divided.

”So that was the problem.”

Only now did Lin Yan fully understand why Split Divinity and Startling Divinity had originally belonged together. Split Divinity separated thoughts and soul, while Startling Divinity protected and stabilized the mind. One allowed the cultivator to divide himself into multiple independent existences, while the other prevented those divisions from slowly destroying the main body’s consciousness.
