Reverend Insanity: Dream Gu

Kong Sheng Tian’s true inheritance was the first one Lin Yan discarded. Kong Sheng Tian had been a Rank Eight Gu Immortal, and the inheritance he left behind tested the Kong Clan bloodline. Lin Yan could certainly attempt to break those methods, but there was little worth risking himself for. Even Hu Land held limited value to him. Once taken, he would also have to keep the secluded domain of heaven and earth inside Flame Sovereign Blessed Land and continuously provide the qi it required.

Qi Jue Grotto Heaven was even more dangerous. Qi Jue Demon Immortal had once fought Limitless Demon Venerable and survived, while the grotto-heaven itself played a part in his future revival. Lin Yan knew its location, but that knowledge did not make the arrangements of such an ancient Rank Eight expert any easier to deal with. Entering before Qi Jue’s revival could easily turn an opportunity into a disaster.

The Heavenly Corpse Emperor True Inheritance presented a different problem. Its location had already fallen into the hands of the Wu Clan, the strongest super force in the Southern Border. An Immortal Gu formation guarded the resource point, with a peak Rank Seven Gu Immortal personally overseeing it. With Lin Yan’s current strength, there was no possibility of taking the inheritance by force.

Tao Zhu’s true inheritance within the Five Regional Mountain Range was also out of the question. Tao Zhu had spent his entire life researching the five regional walls, and the results he left behind would play an important role during the Five Regions Chaotic War and Lin Yan had no use for the Five Regional Limit Formation at present. Its true value would only appear after the five regional walls disappeared.

The Three Kings Inheritance posed the least danger, but there was equally little for Lin Yan to gain from it. The inheritance itself was prepared for mortal Gu Masters. What Lin Yan truly valued on Three Kings Mountain would only appear later, and there was no reason to visit the mountain before then.

Lin Yan went through the opportunities he remembered one after another and discarded nearly all of them. In the end, only one truly tempted him.

Fire Thunder Divine Lord True Inheritance.

Few Days Later

The vast Red Dragon River surged endlessly, its rolling waves carrying sand and sediment downstream.

Lin Yan appeared above the Fire Thunder River section and looked down at the turbulent waters. Crimson illusory flames flickered beneath the surface, intertwined with purple-blue lightning currents. Enormous whirlpools constantly formed and collapsed, dragging the surrounding flames and lightning into their depths.

This section of the Red Dragon River lay between the territories of the Xia Family and Ba Family. Large numbers of Flame Path and Thunder Path mortal Gu were naturally born here, but the quantity was too small to interest either super force. No wild Immortal Gu had ever appeared, while the mortal resources produced each year were not worth the effort required to occupy such a dangerous place.

Flames and lightning filled the depths of the river, while powerful undercurrents and constantly shifting whirlpools could easily break through ordinary defensive methods. Even Rank Five Gu Masters rarely entered this section of the river. With neither the Xia Family nor Ba Family willing to claim it, the area had remained largely deserted.

This was also why Fire Thunder Divine Lord’s true inheritance had remained undiscovered for so long. Under normal circumstances, it was buried deep beneath the riverbed and showed almost no traces on the surface. It would only emerge during the Great Era, when the earth veins became turbulent and changes throughout the Five Regions disturbed the inheritance ground.

Even if taking the inheritance caused some disturbance, neither the Xia Family nor Ba Family constantly watched this place. By the time either clan noticed something unusual and sent Gu Immortals to investigate, Lin Yan would already have left the Southern Border.

After observing the river for a while, Lin Yan descended into its depths. Fire Transformation Robe covered his body as flames and lightning flowed across its surface, isolating him from the violent currents around him. He first activated Flame Sight to search the riverbed, then used Longing Immortal Gu together with Apocalypse Killer Move to narrow down the location of the inheritance.

The result remained vague, but this did not surprise Lin Yan. If the inheritance could be found through ordinary investigative and deduction methods, it would never have remained hidden until the Great Era.

Lin Yan waved his hand, and a young child appeared beside him. A crystal clear blue purple jade bowl floated above the child’s head. Within it was a miniature Divine Firmament Thunder Pool, covered by a small dark cloud that continuously released thin strands of lightning. The Rank Six Immortal Gu formation protected the child, while its defensive Killer Move, Thunder Pool Barrier!, could resist even peak Rank Seven attacks for a short time.

The child’s name was Zhong Yi. He was a descendant of Fire Thunder Divine Lord and possessed the talent to become a Gu Immortal in the future. Using the memories left by his previous self, Lin Yan had found him in Western Desert and moved his entire clan into Flame Sovereign Blessed Land.

Zhong Yi was around Han Li’s age and had not even begun cultivating. Finding himself deep beneath such a dangerous river naturally made him nervous, but the strange sight of crimson flames and purple-blue lightning flowing together through the water soon caught his attention.

Lin Yan continued his deduction with Zhong Yi beside him. This time, the result immediately changed. Longing Immortal Gu reacted to the connection between Zhong Yi’s bloodline and Fire Thunder Divine Lord, while Apocalypse rapidly processed the new clues. What had previously been vague gradually became clear until Lin Yan located an unusual point deep beneath the riverbed.

”As expected, his bloodline is the key.”
