Ning An's Wild Wish System

”It’s a secret.”

The old man seemed to understand something, tears filling his eyes once more.

Shovel by shovel, the mound of earth slowly covered the body of the big black dog.

”Xiaohai, following this old fool like me must have been tough. When you reincarnate in the next life, remember to find a better family...”

”Woof woof woof!”

The big black dog gently bit at the old man’s pant leg, telling him not to be too sad.

”It’s time to go.”

The last shovel of dirt made the mound solid. The old man looked reluctantly at this piece of heaven and earth, then left, locking the door with great reluctance.

As if he hadn’t spoken to anyone in a long time, the old man continuously babbled along the way.

The old man was named Zhang Weimin, with two sons and a daughter.

The eldest son was named Zhang Baoping, the younger one was Zhang Jiadong, and the youngest daughter was Zhang Huixia.

More than a decade ago, the youngest daughter smuggled herself to Yingjiang and hadn’t been in touch with the family since. Even though the old couple were heartbroken almost to the point of despair, they felt helpless, like sighing over the ocean.

The old lady had just passed away a couple of months ago. Neatly stacked cardboard and plastic bottles were placed in front of the door; they were tidied by the old lady for the old man, unwilling to leave him unprepared before entering the game.

The old lady knew too well the character of her two sons and knew that the so-called ”raising children for old age” was all nonsense.

Raising children for old age, how can raising kids ensure old age?

Instead of relying on these unreliable children, the old lady chose to take action herself, leaving the old man a bit of hope so he wouldn’t be unable to live afterwards.

However, the old man looked at these matters with an open mind and did not blame them.

The only thing he couldn’t let go of was his promising grandson, Zhang Wanyun.

Zhang Wanyun was the first university student to come from the Zhang Family, a rare pride that made the family gravestones smoke.

According to the old man’s firm belief, his grandson would surely have a bright future.

Zhang Wanyun was a student at Z City University of Technology. A few years ago, due to national policy, some majors were upgraded from second-tier A class to first-tier B class, so it could barely be considered a first-tier institution.

”Which major is your grandson in?”

Ning An asked casually, but didn’t expect the old man to shake his head.

”Then do you have your grandson’s contact information?”

The old man first nodded, then shook his head again, explaining, ”I used to have it, but later he said he got some campus card with some data plan that was very affordable, so he canceled his old phone number, and I don’t know it now.”

”Ah...” Ning An frowned.

Z City University of Technology isn’t small, with four to fifty thousand people including faculty and staff. Only knowing the name of a school but not the actual contact makes finding someone quite difficult.

Can’t really go around the school with a loudspeaker looking for someone, right?

While Ning An frowned in thought, the old man spoke again, ”Daoist Master, I know where you can find him.”

”Hmm? How do you know?” Ning An turned his head, eyes filled with surprise.

”He often goes to a place full of computers. When my wife and I were picking up trash over there, we saw him several times from across the street.” The old man scratched his head, somewhat embarrassed.

”Internet café?”

”Almost. I saw it had some kind of internet café written on it, looking quite high-end. My grandson must be going there to study well.”

When the old man spoke of this, there was a foolish smile on his face, as if he was really happy.

Internet café?

Study well?

Seeing this, Ning An didn’t explain, quietly turning his head back.

The old man would soon leave, and his life was already hard enough; why add another spoonful of coffee to it?
