Ning An's Wild Wish System

”Thud!”

Before Lu Taiyi could respond, his legs gave way slightly, almost causing him to fall to the ground.

Yang Anbang, standing nearby, showed no change in expression, though his eyes were inscrutable.

Wang Tao, beside him, exclaimed, ”You’re Lin Yanke...”

”Oh? You know me?” Lin Yanke asked curiously.

”Of course I know you, we met when we were kids, hehe.” Wang Tao scratched the back of his head and chuckled awkwardly.

Compared to their light-heartedness, Lu Taiyi’s face turned pale, completely devoid of his earlier bravado and arrogance.

He had two influential disciples as students, so he naturally knew some information.

But this person should be cultivating on that mountain in Z City; how could they suddenly appear in the Capital City?!

Changchun Temple... Damn it!

He naturally knew about Changchun Temple, he had even watched the recordings from Qilian Mountain before.

Lu Taiyi was too aware of how terrifying Lin Yanke was before him!

In an instant, sweat poured down him like rain, all he wanted was to somehow bluff his way through.

Lin Yanke paid no attention to his reaction, only continuing to ask, ”Fellow Taoist, where do you practice?”

”Hmph, that’s none of your business!”

Lu Taiyi avoided eye contact, biting his tongue hard, forcing himself to not fall over.

How could he dare answer that question?

With ordinary people, he could naturally bring up the Maitreya Sect to bluff.

But now, in front of Lin Yanke, bringing up the Maitreya Sect was no different from courting death?!

”Huh?”

Lin Yanke sensed something was wrong.

After all, it was her sister who was being troublesome, interfering with others; how was this different from challenging their place?

Back in ancient times, they would have been merciful not to beat her to death!

She wasn’t unreasonable either, initially planning to mediate, but this situation was quite strange now.

Lin Yanke suddenly moved and appeared in front of Yang Anbang, asking, ”Have you taken him as your master?”

”Um, more or less.”

”So, which sect is he from?”

”I’m not really sure about that either.”

Yang Anbang smiled wryly, explaining, ”You know how it is, the authorities now prohibit revealing the list of sects, so we can only look for those with unknown backgrounds, it’s kind of a gamble...”

Compared to Lin Yanke in front, some unknown teacher like Lu Taiyi wasn’t worth much, right?

Even Wang Tao, who was nearby, chimed in, ”He said before that he learned his skills from a wandering monk, but he didn’t leave a name, just had us meditate and recite scriptures in front of an elmwood statue...”

”Statue? What statue?”

”Looks like Maitreya Buddha, but different in that Maitreya Buddha is smiling, while the statue sits sternly.”

”A solemn Maitreya statue...”

After pondering for a moment, Lin Yanke realized and smiled, ”Oh, it’s the Maitreya Sect then.”

”Kill one to become a Bodhisattva of past lives, kill ten to become a Bodhisattva of a hundred lifetimes, I probably didn’t remember wrong.”

Run!

As soon as Lin Yanke’s words came out, alarm bells rang in Lu Taiyi’s mind; this person clearly knew.

He acted decisively, as soon as the thought formed, he was in motion, turning to climb over the wall to escape.

Though this villa was quite secluded, there was a village nearby, and as long as he could escape here and use the village as cover, he would likely be able to get away.

He was quick and agile, not showing his age of over forty, reaching the corner in just a few strides, ready to climb the wall and leave.

But before he could bend his knees for a boost, he felt a sudden chill from behind.

”Whoosh!”

As his body went up for leverage, it was forcibly twisted by another force, jumping sideways at an odd angle.

He slapped back, a faint golden palm print dissipating the invisible restraint, continuing to leverage and wanting to climb the wall to escape.

”Great Heaven Seal Technique?”

Seeing the talisman was ineffective, Lin Yanke was somewhat surprised, ”You’ve learned quite a bit.”

”Mind your own business!”

Lu Taiyi cursed, yet didn’t pause his steps for fear of delay.

Thunk thunk!

Just as he climbed up the wall, before a look of relief could appear, he felt an even more formidable force from behind.

No matter how his palm slapped, it was to no avail, losing balance and stumbling to the ground.

However, he didn’t fall inside the courtyard, but outside instead.

With autumn approaching, the vegetation was lush, and with just two quick movements, Lu Taiyi’s figure vanished from sight.

Lin Yanke was about to step forward when she heard a sudden ”hiss”, and smoke billowed, increasingly dense, gradually engulfing the entire courtyard.

Soon after, within the clouds, there was the low chant of Buddhist hymns, causing the clouds to tremble:

”When you see my Buddha, why not bow?”

A Big Ear Buddha emerged from the smoke, casting seals, with boundless Buddha light, seemingly trying to suppress this area.

”Huh, illusion technique...”

Lin Yanke curiously examined this Buddha statue, eyes showing a nuanced expression.

To Wang Tao and the others, this statue appeared majestic, with towering waves and numerous phenomena.

But to Lin Yanke, it was clear at a glance that this statue had no sign of gazing, it was merely an illusion.

She immediately pulled out a talisman from her sleeve, which spontaneously combusted, the sleeve bulging before the talisman was cast out.

”Whoosh!”

A fierce wind surged out from the talisman, grand in scale, with thunderous sound, like heavenly thunder, rushing towards the clouds.

”For disrespecting my Buddha, a penalty is due!”

The Big Ear Buddha was enraged, its body enlarged by an entire circle, the ripples around it intensified while the Buddha light flowed out continuously, but the body remained unmoved, appearing somewhat strong yet inwardly weak.

Not far away, Gao Nianyi’s face was pale, clearly frightened, while Yang Anbang and Wang Tao widened their eyes, intensely watching the events unfold, barely blinking.

After all, this kind of Immortal technique might be something they could never witness again in their lifetime!

Just when everyone thought this battle of magical skills would be extremely intense, perhaps even turning everything upside down.

But as soon as the strong wind entered the smoke, it vanished as swiftly as sunlight on a puddle, and the Buddha statue disappeared with it.

In the blink of an eye, Lin Yanke had dragged Lu Taiyi back.

”Buddhist illusion arts, but unfortunately, not performed by an authentic Buddhist disciple.”

Lin Yanke tossed him to the ground, curiously asking, ”Your sect, what Buddhist magic have you learned?”

”...”

Lu Taiyi had summoned the Big Ear Buddha, intending to use its lifelike illusion technique to intimidate the presumably inexperienced Lin Yanke.

Little did he know it would be seen through instantly, leaving him with a hanging head, face ashen, completely silent.

Seeing this, Lin Yanke scoffed but didn’t waste words, directly heading inside the house.

The Maitreya Sect’s illusion technique required a medium, and Lu Taiyi was no exception.

When the Big Ear Buddha appeared, Lin Yanke had already sensed the source of the magic from inside the house.

A few minutes later, Lin Yanke came over with an elmwood box, tossing it before Lu Taiyi.

Seeing this, Yang Anbang and Wang Tao bravely approached, asking, ”Is he, uh, is it serious?”

”You two, see for yourselves.” Lin Yanke waved, kicking open the box.

”Ugh...”

As the box opened, an overwhelming stench greeted them.

Yang Anbang frowned, covering his nose and mouth with one hand, and rummaged through the box with the other, first pulling out a wooden shrine.

There was also a statue of a Big Ear Buddha, round in figure, bare chested, seemingly Maitreya, but with a serious, unsmiling face.

At this moment, the red paint on the statue appeared like melted wax, dripping to the ground, forming a small red pond, while the stench intensified.

This blood-red seemed endless, constantly falling from the statue.

The red on the Big Ear Buddha grew denser, gradually turning crimson.

At the bottom of the box lay something wrapped in tattered cotton cloth.

Yang Anbang uncovered the cloth, retrieving a few yellowed scriptures.

”Maitreya’s Sutra of Becoming Buddha and Subduing Demons, Maitreya’s Ascension Scripture, Maitreya’s Rebirth Scripture...”

”Oh crap! Aren’t these all forbidden cult texts!!!”
