A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 216: Chapter 216: She Doesn’t Need Anyone’s Sympathy!

It wasn’t long before the food arrived.

Mu Yan acted as if nothing was wrong, eating and drinking.

Although she seemed perfectly normal, the more she appeared like this, the more it caused concern.

As the sky grew darker, Mu Yan asked Song Cheng’an and the others to leave.

Song Cheng’an had some work to handle, so he left first.

Lian Jun and Luo Yao insisted on staying but were eventually persuaded to leave by Mu Yan.

Mu Yan sat on the bench, staring at the ceiling with empty eyes, lost in her thoughts.

On certain days in the past, she was also alone like this.

The long corridor was empty, with a chilly and desolate atmosphere lingering in the air.

She didn’t know how much time had passed when her phone rang.

Seeing the caller ID, it was Jiang Jingheng.

She composed her emotions and answered the call.

”Hello.”

”Where are you?” his deep voice came through.

”I’m at the hospital with Mu Chen.” Mu Yan tried to sound relaxed.

”You just got back and are already with him. Have you eaten?” he asked again.

”It’s almost eight now, of course I’ve eaten,” Mu Yan replied with a hint of a smile, ”What about you?”

”I’m just about to eat. I’ll be back the day after tomorrow,” he said.

Mu Yan paused for a moment and responded, ”Okay.”

”You don’t seem happy about my return at all.”

”No, not at all,” Mu Yan quickly said.

”Did you miss me today?”

When Mu Yan heard this, emotions suddenly welled up.

She pressed her lips together, forcing down the surge of emotion. Her voice was a bit hoarse, ”I did.”

”Good girl, I miss you too. I’m going to eat now.”

”Mm.”

Mu Yan hung up the phone and leaned back in her chair, the feeling of loneliness in her heart even stronger.

Of course, she missed him, missed him very much, but she didn’t want him to worry about her even more.

Such matters, she could bear alone!

In a restaurant in Germany, after hanging up, Jiang Jingheng immediately called Song Cheng’an.

”Is Mu Yan in a bad mood today?”

After listening to Song Cheng’an’s words, his face instantly turned grim.

He ended the call, got up, and walked out while dialing Lian Jun’s number.

”Not reporting what you know? How did I instruct you before leaving?”

”I don’t want to hear your explanations, book the earliest flight back.”

Every minute and second of this night was hard for Mu Yan to endure.

Around ten o’clock, Lin Jiamu arrived.

Seeing Mu Yan sitting alone on the bench, he hurried over to her.

”Mu Yan, how’s the situation?”

Mu Yan looked at him, a bit surprised, ”Why are you here?”

”I got news that Mu Chen had a heart attack.”

Mu Yan nodded, ”Don’t worry, he’s fine, just temporarily unconscious.”

Lin Jiamu sat beside her, speaking softly, ”What exactly happened?”

Mu Yan briefly recounted the events, and Lin Jiamu stood up angrily from the chair, ”Damn it, is this woman out of her mind, being so vicious.”

Mu Yan pressed her lips together, ”She just can’t see me doing well, wants to ruin me, but I’ve gotten used to it. Since I was young, every success of mine was closely tied to misfortune.”

Lin Jiamu furrowed his eyebrows tightly, looking at her.

”When I was in elementary school, I won a dance competition, and the next day I broke my leg while practicing, so I never danced again. The first time I got top marks in school, I was accused of cheating the next day, and I never dared to be top again. Many more similar things happened.”

”Mu Yan, you...”

Mu Yan looked at him and shook her head, ”I don’t want to avoid it. This time, I hope to be stronger than before.”

Only in this way can she protect those she wants to protect.

Lin Jiamu looked at her, his eyes full of heartache, but he also knew that she never needed anyone’s sympathy.

All he could do was stay by her side.

Early the next morning, Song Cheng’an came by with bad news.

The incident at the hospital yesterday had been exposed, and now the internet was filled with voices attacking Mu Yan.
