Divine Emperor of Heavenly Destiny

Staring at Lu Chao’s departing back...

Le Chun couldn’t help but blink. She looked at Chang Yuan and asked, ”Brother Lu Chao, what did he mean by that?”

What did he mean, having Zheng Liling and Zeng Quan deliver a message to some Mo Jing?

Chang Yuan mulled it over for a moment before realization dawned on him. He explained to his wife...

”Brother Lu Chao learned from the people of Red Sword City...”

”Yan Soul City of the Cyan Sword Great Empire is the true command center leading the attack on our Azure Flame Domain. However, Red Sword City has secretly invaded and is trying to seize the treasure in the Azure Flame Sect’s Forbidden Land.”

”Naturally, Yan Soul City would never allow that.”

Along the way, Lu Chao had explained to Chang Yuan the situation the Azure Flame Domain was facing.

Thus, it was easy for Chang Yuan to deduce what was happening.

”If I’m not mistaken, Zheng Liling and Zeng Quan have already joined Cyan Sword Yan Soul City. That’s why Brother Lu Chao wants them to deliver a message—to get Yan Soul City to deal with Red Sword City.”

”To put it bluntly, he’s borrowing Yan Soul City’s knife to cut down Red Sword City.”

”This way, even when the Young City Lord of Red Sword and his men emerge from the Forbidden Land, they won’t be able to hunt us down anymore.”

Hearing this, Le Chun finally understood...

Little Chang Duan, being quite clever, added, ”Uncle Lu Chao ruined Red Sword City’s plans and even cut off one of the Young City Lord’s fingers. That Young City Lord is bound to retaliate like a madman...”

”Even if he can’t get revenge on Uncle Lu Chao, he’ll just go on a killing spree here. Only Yan Soul City can drive them away.”

As Chang Yuan’s family was talking...

Lu Chao had already darted into the forest at the base of Sword Thinking Peak, where he saw Zheng Liling and Zeng Quan locked in a brawl.

After landing, he strode forward step by step...

Gazing at the two of them, Lu Chao asked coolly, ”Do you want to live? If so, help me deliver a message to Mo Jing or Yan Mu. I only need one messenger. Who’s it going to be?”

Lu Chao’s voice was terrifying, enough to make one’s scalp tingle.

Just moments before, Zheng Liling and Zeng Quan had both crashed into the forest. Disregarding his severe injuries, Zeng Quan had desperately tried to kill Zheng Liling for abandoning him, while Zheng Liling, of course, fought back with everything he had...

Having fallen from a great height, both were injured, and their fight had devolved into a common street brawl.

But now, at Lu Chao’s words, they both froze.

Zheng Liling even roared, ”Zeng Quan, stop fighting! Lu Chao is going to kill us!”

But alas, Zeng Quan had been betrayed.

He no longer cared about Lu Chao; like a madman, he lunged forward and bit Zheng Liling on the shoulder.

The latter... AARGH!

With a demonic shriek, Zheng Liling, reeling from the pain, viciously kicked Zeng Quan away. After all, Zeng Quan had taken two of Lu Chao’s punches and was far more injured than Zheng Liling.

He couldn’t get back up.

But Zeng Quan still struggled to lift his head, roaring, ”Zheng Liling, I’ll kill you! I’ll kill you...”

The once-dignified headmaster of the Beast Flame Academy was now like a wounded, rabid dog.

Zheng Liling ignored him, his eyes fixed on Lu Chao as he asked, ”What did you mean by what you just said?”

Lu Chao watched the two of them—a real dog-eat-dog scene—with cold eyes.

Finally, he replied, ”The bodies of the Dragon Flame Warriors at Beast Flame Academy were killed by experts from Red Sword City of the Cyan Sword Great Empire. Red Sword City came to seize the treasure in my Azure Flame Sect’s Forbidden Land.”

Zheng Liling was stunned. He had never heard of any Red Sword City; Mo Jing hadn’t told him.

”Yan Mu is from Yan Soul City, and they are sworn enemies of Red Sword City...”

”Now, I need one of you to take this information to Mo Jing.”

”The one who delivers the message gets to live!”

As Lu Chao spoke, Zheng Liling’s pupils contracted sharply. Of course, he immediately accepted the task, indicating his agreement.

He would never leave the chance to live to Zeng Quan.

Besides, from the sound of it, bringing this news to Mo Jing would surely earn him great merit.

On the other side, Zeng Quan was still lying motionless on the ground.

He said hoarsely, ”Lu Chao, Zheng Liling isn’t even fit to be called human. If you let him live, he’ll definitely bite you back hard one day. I’m different. I’m willing to serve you with my life.”

”As long as you help me kill Zheng Liling, I’ll do whatever you say. I’ll be your dog from now on.”

At this point, Zeng Quan would say anything to see Zheng Liling dead.

A cold glint flashed in Zheng Liling’s eyes as he shouted, ”Zeng Quan, Young Master Lu Chao only needs one dog, and that dog is me! You’re not worthy. I’ll send you on your way to the afterlife now.”

To save his own skin, Zheng Liling was also willing to say anything.

As he spoke, he charged directly at Zeng Quan, having already regulated his True Qi.

He sneered at Zeng Quan, thinking to himself, ’As long as I get to Mo Jing alive, I can earn great merit. What’s the big deal about being Lu Chao’s dog for a little while? I’ll figure out a way to... bite Lu Chao to death later.’

With this in mind, he closed in on Zeng Quan and sent a palm strike toward his head.

But just as the force of his palm was about to land on Zeng Quan... PFFT!

A sword burst out from Zheng Liling’s chest.

Zheng Liling froze on the spot. He slowly turned his head to look at the person behind him and said blankly, ”Lu Chao... I’m the Patriarch of the Saint Bone Zheng Family. I should be more valuable than Zeng Quan.”

The one who had run him through was, of course, Lu Chao...

Lu Chao merely offered a cold smile. ”Compared to Zeng Quan, you disgust me.”

With that, he pulled out the sword!

Zheng Liling collapsed, his body twitching uncontrollably as his life force drained away.

Lu Chao continued to stare at Zheng Liling and added, ”If the two of you had teamed up just now, you still wouldn’t have stood a chance of winning, but at least you could have died with a bit more dignity. I might have even chosen you to deliver the message. But alas... you are utterly selfish.”

Saying this, Lu Chao turned to Zeng Quan, whose face was now splattered with Zheng Liling’s blood...

”I don’t need your loyalty, nor do I think much of you.”

”I just need you to deliver the message I mentioned. But before that, you must tell me what mission Mo Jing gave you.”

At Lu Chao’s words, Zeng Quan slowly climbed to his feet...

He spat furiously at Zheng Liling’s twitching body several times before finally looking at Lu Chao...

”He ordered Nan Zhuiming to assassinate the Dragon Flame King, while Zheng Liling and I were to support Nan Zhuiming by causing chaos in the Dragon Flame Kingdom.”

”The goal was to lure you away so Lu Dingtian could smoothly conquer the Great Wu Empire.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Chao’s pupils contracted violently, and a slight tremor ran through his body.

Zeng Quan immediately asked, ”Can I go now?”

Staring intently at Zeng Quan, Lu Chao said, ”You may. But let me give you a warning. If you don’t report the matter with Red Sword City, I will later tell Mo Jing that you encountered them...”

”To Yan Soul City, Red Sword City’s entry into the Azure Flame Domain is a far more important matter than dealing with me.”

”Fail to report it, and Mo Jing will have you killed, slowly and painfully.”

Lu Chao was, of course, worried that Zeng Quan would be disobedient after leaving and deliberately fail to deliver the message to Mo Jing.

To this, Zeng Quan replied, ”Don’t worry. Not only will I report the encounter with Red Sword City, but I’ll also say that Red Sword City killed Zheng Liling... I don’t want anyone to know that I ran into you.”
