Raising My Children With My Personal Spatial Ability

Chapter 2560: Chapter 2560: A Slice for Everyone

”Madam, is there something you wish to ask us?”

The soldier walking in front came back to his senses, his face full of smiles as he looked at An Jiuyue.

They hadn’t eaten fruits like this for so long, let alone ones that looked so juicy. They were just ordinary soldiers and had never tasted such things.

”Please ask whatever you want, we will tell all we know, as long as... hehe.”

Even though he didn’t finish his sentence, everyone understood; as long as they could get some fruit, anything could be negotiated.

Of course, they knew their limits. They only dared say so because they were ordinary soldiers guarding the city gate. They didn’t know about big matters, just small affairs within the city that could be shared or not.

”There’s no rush.”

An Jiuyue wasn’t in a hurry to ask anything; instead, her gaze rested on the Jade Spirit Fruits on the table.

”First, bring these fruits to the brothers guarding the city gate. They’ve worked hard and deserve to replenish with some more moisture.”

Upon hearing this, the soldiers’ eyes lit up immediately.

”Are... are all these for us?”

He could hardly believe that these fruits, such treasures, were all being given to them. Had they encountered such a generous person?

Honestly, with so many brothers at the city gate, even two large barrels of water daily weren’t enough—they had physical work to do!

But whether enough or not, they had to manage. Everyone endured the thirst as they guarded the city gate.

”Yes, all for you.” An Jiuyue nodded.

”Oh! This madam is truly generous, we little ones thank the lady.”

”Thank you, madam. Thank you, madam.”

Hearing they were to receive all the fruits, the soldiers didn’t care about being soldiers of the royal court or living on the state grain. Their eyes were filled with gratitude toward An Jiuyue.

”Old General, Yan the second, take these fruits and distribute them, one slice per person.”

He called over the two brothers he brought with him, asking them to give the Jade Spirit Fruits to the brothers guarding the gate. They had it rough, and a slice of fruit could ease their hunger and thirst.

Amidst his happiness, he seemed to recall something, reminding the two.

”Remember, everyone can only have one slice, no more.”

”Got it, leader, we won’t eat more.” Both had happy expressions on their faces as they responded.

How could they dare eat more? With so many soldiers guarding the gate, even distributing one slice per person might not be enough. No one would dare eat more.

As they called the other brothers over to fetch fruits, the soldiers sneakily glanced at An Jiuyue and the two little babies.

They had just entered the city; the soldiers knew, as they were the ones who watched An Jiuyue’s carriage come in. They hadn’t expected them to have such good fruits.

Even more unexpected was that this lady would give them such fine fruits to eat.

If it were anyone else, having such fruits, they would surely eat them themselves. Even if they had too many to eat, they would sell them at a high price.

In Guangye City now, the water was rationed, yet some families still save up a bit daily. But that water would be sold at a high price to earn money.

They wanted to buy it, but as mere gate-guarding soldiers, with little money in their pockets, how many bowls of water could they afford?

So, they managed as best as they could, getting by in this manner, and as for water—so long as it didn’t kill them, they’d deal with it.
