Raising My Children With My Personal Spatial Ability

Chapter 2557: Chapter 2557: Is Food of Any Use to Them?

”Dad, let’s go. There’s no need to stay here any longer,” he said.

”Alright, let’s head back first.”

The Old Patriarch didn’t want to linger here any longer either and nodded.

Sitting on the ground, An Que could only watch helplessly as the Old Patriarch departed, unable to say a word.

What could he say? An Jiuyue and the others had already left, and even if he wanted to chase after them, he couldn’t. Besides, there were still a lot of unresolved issues at home.

Looking at the items he had bought to apologize, placed not far away, they suddenly seemed particularly glaring.

Those were all things he had spent money on, and now they were useless, a complete waste of his money. If he had known earlier, he would have saved that money!

Now it’s too late for regrets, though.

He took a deep breath, climbed to his feet, and went to pick up those items, intending to see if he could return them at the town.

While not too many people had heard about him being stripped of the scholar status, the townsfolk might still show him some respect, so he hoped to return the items.

Although his dignity was irretrievable, having the money was most important.

Gritting his teeth, with the items in hand, he took one last look at the treehouse, then turned and left. He resolved never to return to this place, having offended An Jiuyue and the others made life truly difficult.

If only he had known...

Sigh, a thousand taels can’t buy foresight, and regret is useless now.

...

Guangye City was not far from Xiang City.

Starting from Guangye City, one could see vast barren lands, with not a single blade of grass growing. Although there was still some water in the ponds, it wasn’t enough to irrigate the fields.

”Oh my God.”

The three little babies followed their parents all the way. Seeing these fields and the townsfolk with chapped lips walking along the road, they couldn’t help but exclaim.

”Daddy, Mommy, the scene here is too tragic. If it’s like this here, wouldn’t Xiang City over there be without water?”

Qian Yinuo, having traveled alongside Qian Jiyun and his wife all the way, realized after seeing the situation in Guangye City that Xiang City and other cities must be equally dire.

”Look at them, tsk tsk, Mommy, would our food be of any use to them?”

Hearing his words, An Yixing and Yi Zhou also looked up at their mother. They knew cooking required water.

As it is now, even with food, you can’t cook, right?

They had just seen it; the water in the ponds was nearly depleted. If it doesn’t rain soon, the days ahead will be even tougher.

”Mom, why don’t they flee from the disaster?” An Yizhuo asked quietly.

”Because they know fleeing wouldn’t help,” An Jiuyue answered.

If fleeing was effective, these people wouldn’t be staying put. The Northern Lands have always been like this, experiencing severe droughts every few years. They’re used to it.

”Though they’ve fallen on hard times, they would still have some preparations at home, so their basic living is not an issue.”

They just need to reduce their food and water usage. Drinkable water isn’t a problem; they use it sparingly every day, but washing faces or bathing is out of the question, so everyone seems dirty.

But even these days, though they can manage, there’s still the problem with food. The royal court needs to send grain to ease the situation a bit.
