Raising My Children With My Personal Spatial Ability

Chapter 2558: Chapter 2558: He Is Dad’s Spokesperson

”Let’s go into the city and take a look.”

As they spoke, they had already walked to the outskirts of the city gate.

Due to the severe drought, the number of soldiers at the city gate had doubled to prevent any unforeseen incidents.

Most townspeople are law-abiding, but there are some who want to take advantage of the situation for personal gain, as there are indeed those affected by the drought.

As their group entered the city, just as they did, the sound of someone beating a gong rang in their ears, followed by shouts about fetching water.

”Fetch water, fetch water!”

The next moment, they saw many townspeople, each holding various types of wooden barrels, rushing silently towards a specific direction.

”You stay here and keep watch, Lao San and I will go fetch water.”

Even the soldiers guarding the city gate sent two people to fetch water because if they didn’t, the soldiers at the gate would have no water to drink for the day.

These gate-guarding soldiers were allotted two large barrels of water every day, which was their entire water supply for the day.

”Lao San, Brother Yao, take your time returning, don’t spill it.”

Watching the two hurriedly leave, the soldiers at the city gate shouted warnings, reminding them to be extra careful because if the water spilled, they’d have none left.

In such special times, no one fetching water dared spill a drop, as lost water meant an entire family would have none for the day.

An Jiuyue glanced at the soldiers and then at the frenzied townspeople, shaking her head.

It wasn’t that she thought they were too crazy, but she felt that life in the Northern Lands was truly unfit for humans. Although people here should be used to such times, frequent occurrences could weaken the country’s strength.

”Jiuyue, take the kids over there to the tea house and rest for a while,” Qian Jiyun said to An Jiuyue as he glanced at the abandoned tea house.

He then entered the tea house, cleaned off a dust-covered table along with the chairs.

Afterwards, he brewed a pot of tea and set it down, taking out some snacks to place on the table, signaling An Jiuyue to sit down.

”Wait here for a bit, I’m going to check out the water-fetching spot.”

”Alright, go ahead.”

An Jiuyue nodded, as they were already in town, they should gather all necessary information before deciding on their next move.

”No need to rush, the treehouse they...”

”Mom, let me go with Dad, let the brothers stay with you.” Before she could finish, the little baby chimed in.

He wanted to go with his dad, as he was full and didn’t trust his dad going alone. He knew his father well, quite prideful.

Only by going with him could they find out what they needed to know.

By accompanying his father, he could facilitate questions, filling in what his father couldn’t ask, ensuring everyone was satisfied.

Hearing this, An Jiuyue glanced down at her good eldest son.

”Alright, you can go with your dad.”

She also thought the chatty little darling going with his dad was right, while she’d stay with the quiet treehouse and Zhou’er.

”Let’s go.”

Qian Jiyun didn’t refuse either, picking up his son and walking away.

If his son wanted to go with him, so be it. He even felt his son was too loud, worrying he might disturb Jiuyue.
