Raising My Children With My Personal Spatial Ability

Chapter 2487: Chapter 2487: As You Mentioned Before

“Isn’t this too much of a coincidence.”

He muttered a sentence, found a spacious place, turned the ox cart around, and headed back to the village.

…

Meanwhile, in the village, Scholar An Que happened to see a man visiting relatives in An Clan Village, and as it happened, he was from Brother Qing Ke’s village.

He was holding a white flour meat bun, sitting in the courtyard feeling proud. Suddenly, upon seeing this person, he choked on the bun, almost choking himself to death.

He clenched his fist with one hand and pounded his chest for quite a while before catching his breath.

“Uncle, hey uncle, wait a moment.”

Without having enough time to breathe evenly, he chased after the man. If he wasn’t mistaken, this man should be one of Brother Qing Ke’s relatives within the fifth kinship.

He had previously seen this man bringing meat and vegetables to Brother Qing Ke several times outside the academy, and he would not have mistaken him.

Why would Brother Qing Ke want to return the fields to them today? Why would they still be in the mood to visit relatives?

“Who are you?”

The man, seeing someone calling him, turned his head to look at An Que and asked.

They were all men dealing with the soil every day and knew the scholars from their own village, but they didn’t know the scholars from other villages.

Those scholars wouldn’t want to know people like them either.

“I’m a classmate of Brother Qing Ke. I’ve seen you a few times outside the academy.” An Que walked up with a smile and greeted him.

“Oh, so you’re a classmate of Ke.”

The man’s expression softened upon hearing him mention Qing Ke, and he greeted back.

As a classmate of Qing Ke, he must also be a scholar, right? Are scholars so approachable now? He harbored significant doubts.

After all, in their village, except for Qing Ning, the other scholars all acted superior, looking down on the ordinary folks like them.

“Hello, hello.”

The honest man awkwardly rubbed his hands on his clothes, momentarily not knowing what to do.

“Hello.”

An Que returned with a smile, noticing the man’s awkward demeanor and a trace of disdain flashed in his eyes.

But he quickly concealed the disdain and continued, “What are you doing here? If I remember correctly, the fields from your family are under Brother Qing Ke’s name, right? He mentioned it to me before.”

Of course, Brother Qing Ke would not mention such matters to him; it was just something he said offhand because the man was unlikely to verify it with Brother Qing Ke.

“Is that so? Ke mentioned that to you.”

The man naively scratched his head, feeling some confusion. Since when did Qing Ke talk about village matters to outsiders?

Moreover, talking about the fields—Qing Ke was always opposed to discussing these things outside.

If someone brought it up and it spread outside, it would become a handle to be used against him. Although most scholars had some fields registered under other people’s names, it sounded unpleasant if it got out.

“Yes, Brother Qing Ke mentioned it to me.”

An Que continued smiling, steering the conversation back to the topic.

“But in the future, the crops grown in those fields will be taxed. Scholars can no longer have fields registered under other people’s names. The county really doesn’t give us common folks a way to live.”

He said this while shaking his head regretfully.
