Raising My Children With My Personal Spatial Ability

Chapter 2477: I Will Never Forget You

After just one night of sleep, he told his family about the rumor from the county government.

Soon, the family called in those who had initially registered their land under An Que’s name.

These families were already somewhat afraid of An Que, fearing he would raise their grain taxes again, and felt very uneasy when called over.

However, upon hearing An Que say that he wanted to return the land to them and that their land could no longer be registered under his name, these people collectively, albeit secretly, sighed in relief.

They had actually long wanted to take back this land but were constrained by the fact that An Que was a scholar, so they couldn’t just speak directly to him about it.

Now that An Que had brought it up himself, how could they oppose it?

Yet, An Que was unaware of their thoughts and still looked down on everyone with an air of superiority, talking eloquently.

“Uncles, I really apologize, but I have no choice and had to make this difficult decision. If the land is not returned to you, I’m afraid I won’t have a peaceful life, and my scholarly reputation would also… I hope you can understand me.”

He bowed in apology to everyone and, seeing their somewhat incredulous expressions, felt secretly pleased.

These people had benefited quite a lot from him over the years, and now without advantages from him, just look at their faces; truly a spectacle to behold.

But his heart also ached secretly; if those lands had been continually registered under his name, he could have earned quite a bit of money every year.

Now, seeing that this money no longer exists, how could he not feel pained?

But even if it pains him more, what must be given up has to be given up; the future is most important, knowing that the County Magistrate favored him the most.

“But rest assured, uncles, when the county government allows scholars to register everyone’s land again in the future, I, An Que, will certainly not forget you.” He promised again.

The uncles: “…”

An Que, you better forget us quickly; we can’t afford it!

Don’t think we really don’t know anything; over these years, we’ve paid more grain to An Que than what’s due to the county government. We aren’t fools, you know?

Were it not for An Que being a scholar, possibly having a better future, who among us would want to play the fool?

“Que’er, don’t say that.”

The leading middle-aged man raised his hand, appearing upset, to wipe away nonexistent tears.

“Uncle knows you have your difficulties, and we can’t make things hard for you. Well, let’s just hurry up and handle the land deed matters, so we can pave a bright path for Que’er.”

Not even bothering with excuses for An Que, he simply turned around and gathered everyone to handle the proper business.

“Why don’t we go to the Chief right now to let him handle it? We can’t let Que’er be troubled over our matters any longer.”

The land registered under An Que’s name was notarized by the county government, so naturally, the Chief had to handle it, hence the suggestion.

Moreover, seeing that the wheat in the field was about to be harvested and the rice should be planted, by taking back the land now, they could still earn a little extra.
