Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 779: Chapter 822: The Hidden Hand

Ye Anxin was completely unaware and continued to walk forward!

Just as those hands were about to touch Ye Anxin’s back, the phone in Ye Anxin’s pants pocket suddenly rang.

The sudden ringtone startled the person following Ye Anxin, making them hurriedly withdraw their hand, turn around, and walk away unhurriedly!

As Ye Anxin took out the phone from her pants pocket, for some inexplicable reason, her gaze drifted sideways! When she saw that increasingly distant figure, a strange emotion flashed in her heart! But that emotion didn’t linger long, as it vanished the moment she saw the caller ID on her phone!

Looking at the name displayed on the phone, Ye Anxin chuckled, a bright smile at the corners of her mouth. She answered the call, putting it to her ear, and sweetly said, ”What’s up? Didn’t we just part? You miss me already?”

On the other end of the line came Mu Beiting’s usual deep, magnetic voice, ”I just wanted to make sure you reached your mom’s place safely!”

Ye Anxin smiled brightly, saying, ”No, not yet! How could I have gotten there so quickly? My mom lives in a unit inside the community. I’m on my way, but I’ll be there soon!”

Mu Beiting dominantly said, ”I’ll hang up after you arrive!”

Although Mu Beiting didn’t explicitly say it, Ye Anxin knew that he cared about her, wasn’t at ease with her going out alone, which is why he stayed on the phone until he was sure she arrived safely at her mother’s place.

Thinking about how Mu Beiting appeared cold on the outside but was so warm and considerate on the inside, Ye Anxin felt a sweet sensation in her heart as if filled with honey, ”What’s the matter? You can’t even be reassured over this short distance? This is a community, there are people everywhere, and there’s security at the gate. You don’t need to worry! Nothing will happen to me!”

”...!” In response to Ye Anxin’s words, Mu Beiting was silent!

Even though he said nothing, he didn’t hang up either, stubbornly wanting to wait until Ye Anxin reached her destination to hang up.

Seeing Mu Beiting still uneasy, Ye Anxin chatted with him while walking to the unit where her mother lived!

It wasn’t until Ye Anxin got out of the elevator, found her mother’s house, knocked on the door, and let her mother say a word to Mu Beiting to confirm Ye Anxin had arrived at her destination that Mu Beiting finally felt at ease and hung up the phone.

Seeing Ye Anxin looking happy as she put her phone back in her pants pocket, Ye An’s mother smiled sincerely, feeling satisfied, ”Before, I was afraid you’d suffer if you married him! But as it turns out, Beiting really is a good man, a good husband. He treats you so well; I can be at ease now!”

Ye Anxin happily said, ”Yes! Although the old man isn’t great with words and isn’t like other men, who are full of sweet talk! But his heart is more delicate than any other man, and he’s exceptionally considerate of me! So, I’m very content!”

Ye An’s mother smiled and took Ye Anxin by the hand, ”Come on! Let’s go inside!”

Ye Anxin didn’t move. Instead, she turned her head, looked around, puzzled, and asked, ”Where’s Ye Shan? Didn’t you say he waits outside every day? Where is he?”

Ye An’s mother indifferently said, ”He’s probably squatting in some corner! Let’s hurry inside; otherwise, when he sees you’re here, he’ll surely cling to you and not let you go in!”

Sure enough, as soon as the words left her mouth, Ye Shan emerged from a nearby corner. When he saw Ye Anxin, his eyes lit up, and he rushed over, smiling ingratiatingly, ”Anxin, you’re here! Did you know I was here, so you came to see me?”

Seeing Ye Shan suddenly appear, Ye Anxin’s previously smiling face instantly turned sullen, and she snapped, ”Who are you to me? Why would I come to see you?”

Upon hearing this, Ye Shan’s smile immediately vanished. Sniffling, feeling guilty, he said, ”Anxin, I know I was totally wrong during the granddaughter’s full moon banquet, so it’s only right for you to blame me! But look at me, at my age, alone and wretched, it’s truly pitiable! I genuinely regret it now; I just want to find somewhere I can settle down and live out my old age!”

”Repent? I’d sooner believe a pig can climb a tree than believe you’ve repented!” That said, she stopped paying attention to Ye Shan and pulled her mother into the house.

Seeing they were about to go inside, Ye Shan immediately attempted to follow them in, wearing a fawning expression!

Seeing him trying to follow, Ye An’s mother immediately pushed Ye Anxin into the house, spread her arms to block Ye Shan’s path, and unfriendly said, ”Sorry, this is my home; you are not welcome here!”

Ye Shan pouted, his eyes turning red, speaking pitifully, ”Honey... it’s been so long, and you still won’t forgive me? I’ve been sleeping outside every night, and you have no idea how cold, hard, and chilling the ground is! I’m in so much pain all over now! If this goes on, my old bones will surely fall apart!”

”No one’s making you sleep on the ground outside. If you can’t stand it, you can leave right now! I’ll enjoy the peace!” Saying that, she forcefully pushed Ye Shan outside and slammed the door shut.

Hearing the thunderous sound of the door closing, Ye Anxin couldn’t help but cover her ears!

The fact Ye Shan could make her mother this angry truly made him the first person ever!

Her mother’s temperament was famously good, even better than hers! Her character was shaped entirely by her mother’s teachings and guidance from childhood!

No matter how excessive Ye Shan had been in the past, she never saw her mother get that angry!

It seemed that this time, Ye Shan really broke her mother’s heart.

After Aunt Qing poured a glass of water for Ye Anxin, Ye An’s mother pulled her to the sofa to sit down, irritably saying, ”Anxin, you see it, right? It’s like this every day now! Every time I open the door, he clings to me, impossible to shake off!”

Ye Anxin widened her eyes, incredulously asking, ”He really waits outside every day? Never once leaving?”

Ye An’s mother sighed, helplessly said, ”Yes! Every night, I have Aunt Qing secretly check! At first, he slept right at the door, but when I saw him there, I wouldn’t go out! These past few days he’s gotten clever, hiding in a nearby corner, and every time I go out, he rushes out! I can’t just not leave the house because of him!”

Upon hearing this, instead of comforting her, Ye Anxin teased, ”Seems like he really knows your character inside out! He knows as long as he keeps this up, one day your heart will soften! It seems after over twenty years of marriage, he does understand you, at least your soft spot!”
