High Martial Arts: Grinding for the Supreme Talent

Chapter 149: Chapter 149: They’re the Ones Who Should Be Running

From that simple exchange, Lin Qi could feel the Gray Ridge Giant Wolf’s power.

’It’ll be difficult to kill it without taking off my Gravity Rings.’

Staggered by Lin Qi’s fierce spear strike, the Gray Ridge Giant Wolf tilted its head. It recovered with incredible speed, its sharp claws scraping twice against the concrete ground.

It used the opposing force to lunge forward again, a foul stench carried on a blast of wind rushing toward him.

Lin Qi stood rooted like an old tree, his legs planted firmly on the ground. Terrifying strength traveled from his legs up his spine. His vertebrae stacked and straightened, and his muscles exploded with force.

Endless Power surged forth. He swung the Black Great Spear in a wide arc, the shaft whistling through the air. Under his control, the Power within his body was unleashed like a torrential wave.

He swept it like a staff toward the Gray Ridge Giant Wolf, a single motion that seemed capable of cleansing all the filth between heaven and earth.

The Gray Ridge Giant Wolf seemed to sense the danger. It twisted its body mid-air, exposing its gray spine, which was as hard as steel needles.

BANG!!!

With a dull thud, Lin Qi’s Long Spear smashed heavily onto the wolf’s back, and his Mountain-Splitting Power erupted in an instant.

AWOO~

Although the Gray Ridge Giant Wolf’s spine was tough and dissipated some of the force, Lin Qi’s strike contained astonishing Power.

It sent the beast flying, cracking its vertebrae. The intense pain made it let out a piercing shriek.

THUMP!

Its entire body slammed heavily onto the ground, kicking up a large cloud of dust.

The corners of Lin Qi’s mouth turned up. ’It actually dared to take my full-force blow head-on.’

’Looks like my strength is nothing to scoff at. Even a Level 3 Calamity Beast, a Gray Ridge Giant Wolf, couldn’t handle it.’

He immediately strode forward. The Gray Ridge Giant Wolf sensed the danger, rolled to its feet, and began to circle him.

Its gaze was locked on Lin Qi. It could clearly feel his strength and was unwilling to clash with him directly.

It tried to find an opening in Lin Qi’s defense before launching a fatal strike.

The two were at a standstill for a moment before the Gray Ridge Giant Wolf saw its chance and launched a surprise attack from the side.

AWOO~

It opened its cavernous maw and leaped into the air, its sharp fangs glinting with a cold light.

Its target was Lin Qi’s ankle, which it intended to snap in one bite.

Although the Combat Suit was made of special fibers that could effectively resist the bites of Calamity Beasts, this didn’t apply to Level 3 Calamity Beasts. Their destructive power was on a whole other Level.

The corners of Lin Qi’s mouth turned up.

”Good timing!”

He knew every exchange was crucial. If he seized an opportunity, he had to make it a killing blow.

All twelve of his main tendons tensed, his vertebrae straightened one by one, and an endless stream of Power gushed out. His muscles fired in unison, his Qi Blood surged, and his blood flowed at high speed.

Power flowed like a wave, instantly solidifying under his control. The Mountain-Splitting Power gathered, transmitted to his hands, and poured into the Black Great Spear.

The spear’s shaft emitted a low HUM, its tip trembling.

In an instant, Lin Qi’s figure moved. He activated the Thunder Light Body Technique, and his speed suddenly surged.

He was even faster than his peak speed. His body moved like a flash of lightning as he shot forward. With a flick of his wrist, he thrust the spear out in a straight, swift, and precise line.

The Mountain-Splitting Power erupted, unleashed along with the impact of the spear tip, Tearing through the air.

It was like an invisible, sharp cone, madly drilling forward in a straight line.

The first Killing Technique of the Mountain Splitting Spear Technique—Rock-Splitting Cone!

The Gray Ridge Giant Wolf sensed a mortal danger, its eerie green pupils widening.

’His Killing Technique is too fast!!’

It had no time to react. All it saw was a cold light flash before it, and a fierce wind ravaged its face.

PSHH~

The Black Great Spear drilled into the Gray Ridge Giant Wolf’s neck like a sharp cone. The fierce and penetrating Mountain-Splitting Power burst forth, instantly Tearing through skin and flesh, and piercing its throat.

SPURT~

Blood sprayed from its neck as its body was sent flying by the terrifying force.

It slammed heavily into a pile of rubble, sending debris flying. Its life force drained away with the gushing blood.

Its pupils were fixed on Lin Qi and the Long Spear in his hand. Its body trembled one last time before it completely lost all signs of life.

The Gray Ridge Giant Wolf was dead!!

”What just happened?”

Not far away, Zhou Xiyin, dressed in white, stood frozen in place. Her eyes were wide with disbelief as she watched the scene unfold.

She looked at Lin Qi’s tall back, then at the corpse of the Gray Ridge Giant Wolf lying in the distance.

Her heart was filled with shock.

”He actually won!”

”He killed the Gray Ridge Giant Wolf!!”

She had clearly seen Lin Qi’s final move. That spear strike was so brilliant and exquisite—it was definitely a Killing Technique.

’So this is Lin Qi’s true strength. He’s too strong.’

’So strong it makes me feel inadequate!’

Lin Qi calmly flicked the blood off his Black Great Spear and opened the Points Chart.

[1st Place: Lin Qi, Points: 742]

By killing the Gray Ridge Giant Wolf, he had successfully surpassed Wang Qiufeng and Chen Li to take first place.

Coming back to his senses, he turned to Zhou Xiyin and said:

”Are you all right?!”

Zhou Xiyin stood up and looked at Lin Qi, asking a single question: ”Aren’t you tired?”

Just as Lin Qi was about to speak, his expression changed drastically. He brandished his Black Great Spear, assuming a neutral stance, ready to attack at any moment.

AWOO!

From among the crumbling ruins, three massive figures shot out.

When Zhou Xiyin saw the three Calamity Beasts emerge from the dilapidated building in the distance, a look of terror appeared on her pretty face. Her expression changed dramatically as she said:

”Three Gray Ridge Giant Wolves?!”

”Run!”

She looked back at Lin Qi and saw that he was staring calmly into the eerie green, cruel eyes of the three Gray Ridge Giant Wolves. He said calmly:

”Run?”

”They’re the ones who should be running!”

The moment he finished speaking, a terrifying aura erupted from his body, as if a giant tiger with skin like Golden Metal had opened its eyes, awakening from a deep slumber.

SWOOSH~

In the next instant, he was like a tiger let out of its cage to survey its domain, and the three Gray Ridge Giant Wolves were its prey.

Staring at Lin Qi’s back, Zhou Xiyin felt as if she were looking at a Celestial God in a daze.

...

In a large conference room, Yuan Ji, the person in charge of the temporary practical training, was also watching the large screen.

His gaze was currently focused intently on two video feeds.

In one video, the man brandished a Great Spear, executing a Mountain-Splitting Strike to kill a Gray Ridge Giant Wolf.

”That’s a Killing Technique!”

”I recognize that Spear Technique! It’s the Mountain Splitting Spear Technique! And that was its first Killing Technique, the Rock-Splitting Cone!”

”He really killed a Gray Ridge Giant Wolf!” someone exclaimed, unable to stop themself from standing up.

”The first person in this class to kill a Level 3 Calamity Beast has appeared, and it’s Lin Qi,” someone from the Nether Sea Spectator Team remarked with a sigh of admiration.

”To think Lin Qi is this strong. It seems we’ve all underestimated him. His Qi and Blood Value, Martial Arts, and Combat Talent are all far beyond the others,” the leader of the Shanyu Observation Team praised.

Just as the crowd was expressing their admiration, someone suddenly shouted, ”Oh no, Lin Qi is in danger!”

On the screen, three well-built Gray Ridge Giant Wolves had surrounded Lin Qi and Zhou Xiyin.

In the Azure Sky Martial Arts Academy’s observation team, a pretty woman with a baby-faced look panicked, ”Dean, what should we do?”

”That’s three Gray Ridge Giant Wolves!”

”An Ordinary Martial Artist would have no chance of survival against the assault of three Gray Ridge Giant Wolves.”

The Dean frowned and said, ”Don’t panic!”

”Lin Qi is no Ordinary person. He’s a Martial Artist on the verge of becoming an S-class genius!”

”Lin Qi is charging the three Gray Ridge Giant Wolves!” someone shouted.

”What?!”

Dean Big Ear’s expression changed, and he too looked at the screen. He saw Lin Qi, amidst the yellow sand, fearlessly brandishing his Black Great Spear and charging toward the three Gray Ridge Giant Wolves.

He alone had surrounded the three Gray Ridge Giant Wolves.

...

In the center of Area 2 of Ruins Town, beneath a collapsed watchtower, the area had a stark, industrial feel, with remnants of walls made from special-grade steel scattered about.

Now, they were dilapidated and rusted, entwined with dark green vines.

BAM!!

”Die!!”

AWOO~

Chen Li, tall and powerfully built, had his muscles bulging. His Qi Blood raged, and he was filled with a savage aura.

Like a lion on the savanna, he hunted the Gray Ridge Giant Wolf before him.

The beast let out a deafening howl, then lunged forward, opening its gaping maw. Its sharp fangs looked as if they could crush anything.

”First Killing Technique of the Overlapping Waves Heavy Sword—Furious Wave Slash!”

Chen Li swung his Black Heavy Sword. The muscular strength of his entire body exploded forth, like a furious wave on a great river sweeping out to devour everything.

CLANG!

The Heavy Sword slashed down furiously, the Power traveling along the blade creating a piercing whistle as it cut through the air.

AWOO~

The Heavy Sword collided with the wolf’s claws, and the immense force slammed the Gray Ridge Giant Wolf into the ground.

「Thirty seconds later!」

SQUELCH~

THUD!!

The Gray Ridge Giant Wolf’s massive head fell to the ground, and blood gushed out like a fountain.

Phew~

Chen Li collapsed onto the ground, his face etched with exhaustion. He could no longer support his weary body.

His arms trembled uncontrollably. They ached, his stamina was completely depleted, and after nearly six hours of frantic fighting, his body had reached its limit.

He looked at the Time on his watch.

”Perfect timing, there are still 10 minutes left!”

’My Points must be the highest right now. Not even Wang Qiufeng or Lin Qi can compare to me.’

’First place in this practical training is already mine.’

A confident smile spread across Chen Li’s face as he pressed the yellow button on his black watch.

BEEP!

A green screen was projected, displaying the Points Chart.

[1st Place: Lin Qi, Points: 842]

[2nd Place: Chen Li, Points: 758]

[3rd Place: Wang Qiufeng, Points: 642]

...

”First place... Lin Qi??”

Chen Li’s eyes widened. He looked closer and realized something was wrong.

He wasn’t in first place. Instead, Lin Qi had become the new leader.

His Points had shockingly reached 842.

That was almost a hundred Points more than him!!

”How did he do that?” Chen Li’s expression changed drastically, his face filled with confusion.

”Did he hunt a Gray Ridge Giant Wolf too?”

”Someone else can also kill a Gray Ridge Giant Wolf?”

In an instant, Chen Li scrambled up from the ground and gripped his Black Heavy Sword. He was going to hunt another Gray Ridge Giant Wolf.

He had to reclaim the first-place spot that belonged to him.

But his leaden body told him that, realistically, he couldn’t possibly kill another Gray Ridge Giant Wolf.

And then, the Points Chart changed again.

[1st Place: Lin Qi]

[Points: 842→942→1042]
