High Martial Arts: Grinding for the Supreme Talent

Chapter 131: Chapter 131: Thunder Light Body Technique

Martial Arts Calendar Year 2046, March 12th

The second day after the inspection team arrived in Celestial Sea City.

「Red Dome Martial Arts Dojo, Room B126」

Lin Qi swung the greatspear in his hands. His muscles bulged, Qi Blood surged, and veins popped out on his skin.

His body was flushed crimson, radiating white steam. Sweat poured off him like rain, flying everywhere with his movements.

Lin Qi’s gaze was resolute. He put force into his wrist, making the spear’s shaft vibrate and its tip tremble wildly.

SWISH! SWISH!

WHOOSH—

HISS... HISS...

He brandished the greatspear, performing the Mountain Splitting Spear Technique. The heavy weapon let out a sharp whistle as it cut through the air. As the techniques changed, a strong gust of wind blew, accompanied by the sound of tearing air.

An invisible force seemed to vent into the surroundings, causing the air to ripple.

With a final, sudden thrust, a Power that surged like tidal waves was released from the spear’s tip, erupting with enough force to shatter mountains and split stone.

Lin Qi stopped, his eyes bright. Although his arms were trembling, his entire aura had changed.

’This is the circulation of Power. It feels incredible. A casual thrust from me now has the might of a Killing Technique.’

’This is the unique Power of the Mountain Splitting Spear Technique—Mountain-Splitting Power.’

’It possesses an intense tearing and destructive force.’

Lin Qi thought to himself that the next step in improving his Spear Technique was to gradually master more of this Power.

He would need to progressively increase the might of his techniques, constantly refining his force-application skills until he comprehended the three great Killing Techniques.

WHOOSH—

Lin Qi began to pant, grabbing a sports drink and gulping it down.

A moment later, he retrieved a black metal box from a white metal locker in the corner. He opened it and took out another Secret Manual—the *Thunder Light Body Technique*.

He had already learned the *Mountain Splitting Spear Technique*.

It was time to learn a new Body Technique Secret Manual.

The Secret Manual’s cover was golden-yellow, inscribed with four large, flamboyant words: *Thunder Light Body Technique*.

Lin Qi began to read through it.

”The Thunder Light Body Technique is an extremely exquisite Body Technique Secret Manual, inspired by the speed and agility of thunder and lightning.”

”When executed, the user moves like a flash of thunder light, possessing incredible speed and an unpredictable trajectory.”

”This Body Technique emphasizes speed and explosive power, placing extremely high demands on the learner’s core, flexibility, coordination, and muscles.”

Lin Qi nodded. Without a good physical foundation, one wasn’t suited to practice this Body Technique.

The *Thunder Light Body Technique* was not just a body technique, but also a footwork technique. It required generating force with the leg muscles to dodge and maneuver.

These were all things he had never learned before.

He inserted the USB drive, and a holographic training video appeared. He began to learn.

The video showed a middle-aged man in a black Martial Arts Uniform. He had a lean, powerful build, a cross-shaped claw mark on his face, and radiated a terrifying sharpness.

”For Body Technique training, we need to begin with footwork drills on flat ground.”

”Feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, lower your center of gravity...”

”The transition between two steps must be extremely tight, like two consecutive flashes of lightning...”

Lin Qi slowly followed the movements, feeling that his own actions were clumsy and stiff.

Looking back at the man in the video, his footwork was agile and swift, his entire body exceptionally coordinated, like a flicker of lightning.

Under the pressure of the 200-jin gravity on his body, Lin Qi continuously practiced his footwork and soon felt exhausted.

His leg muscles felt heavy and began to tremble, the soreness constantly testing Lin Qi’s willpower.

HUFF!

DRIP! DROP!

Lin Qi gritted his teeth and persevered, letting his sweat drip onto the floor.

He silently practiced the footwork, recalling the muscle-activation techniques from the Body Technique.

「Two hours later.」

WHOOSH! WHOOSH!

Lin Qi’s footwork changed. His movements went from clumsy to agile.

His muscles generated force, creating a Power that flowed through his legs like lightning.

Suddenly, his steps diverged, and he moved so fast he created an afterimage.

[Through arduous training, you have reached the Beginner realm of the *Thunder Light Body Technique*. You have learned the Body Technique. Body Technique +5%]

[Body Technique: Tier Two 7%→12%]

PHEW—

As he took his final step, Lin Qi could no longer hold himself up and collapsed, plopping onto the ground.

’I’ve finally reached the Beginner realm!’

Looking at the data on the panel, Lin Qi smiled in relief.

Moreover, his Body Technique Realm had increased by 5% in one go—a huge jump.

This was something he hadn’t expected.

It showed that his Body Technique had truly made immense progress.

After a moment, he slowly stood up and tried out the footwork, his body dodging and weaving.

He could clearly feel that his entire body had become much more agile. He would be able to evade an opponent’s attacks with greater ease.

’A Body Technique Secret Manual is really something else. The improvement is so obvious,’ Lin Qi marveled inwardly.

’The *Thunder Light Body Technique* is divided into four separate realms, unlike the Spear Technique Secret Manual, which simply and crudely bases its realms on how many Killing Techniques you’ve learned.’

’It’s divided into four realms: Beginner, Minor Achievement, Great Success, and Perfection.’

’At the Beginner realm of the Body Technique, a cultivator can grasp the basic footwork, and their flexibility and speed are greater than normal.’

’I’m at the Beginner realm right now.’

’When I become proficient in the footwork and can shuttle quickly across the battlefield, I’ll have reached the Minor Achievement realm.’

Lin Qi stood up and walked into the bathroom. From now on, his training regimen would be even more packed: Cultivation Technique, Fist Technique, Spear Technique, and Body Technique.

These four alone would take up all of his time.

Plus, wearing the Gravity Ring made everything even more exhausting.

’It may be exhausting, but the speed at which my strength is increasing is genuinely fast.’

SHHHHHH!!

Feeling the hot water wash over him, the deep-seated exhaustion in his body lingered.

Lin Qi thought that without his Dragon Energy and Tiger Fierceness talent and the other talents from his template, his body might not have been able to withstand such desperate training.

...

Meanwhile, in a bedroom in Rongshan District.

From a worn-out brown nightstand, Jiangtao solemnly took out a small black box. It was like a ring box and had a fingerprint scanner on the front.

BEEP!

Fingerprint verification successful.

The box slowly opened, revealing its contents: a deep red, teardrop-shaped gem, set inside.

Jiangtao curiously took it out and held it up to the light.

”What is this?”

’Before my parents died, they joined a pioneer squad in the Otherworld. They brought this back shortly after.’

’They told me to open it after my 18th birthday.’

’Then they rushed back to the Otherworld and were ultimately killed there, their bodies never recovered.’

’It didn’t even come with an instruction manual. How am I supposed to figure this out?’ Jiangtao grumbled to himself.

Just as he was thinking this, he felt a sudden, sharp pain and looked down.

He saw that his finger had touched the tip of the teardrop. The point was incredibly sharp and had instantly cut him.

In the next second, the deep red teardrop twisted, instantly turning into a liquid and surging into his body through the wound.

Then, the wound healed at a speed visible to the naked eye.

”What was that? How did it get inside my body?” Jiangtao’s expression was a mixture of terror and curiosity.

The feeling of the unknown left him without any sense of security.

...

「Two days later. Red Dome Martial Arts Dojo, Room B126」

”You’re saying that deep red, teardrop-shaped thing entered your body?”

Lin Qi, dressed in his black Martial Arts Uniform, asked, looking at Jiangtao in front of him.

Jiangtao nodded and asked cautiously, ”Brother Qi, do you think I’ll be like the protagonist in a novel? You know, get a magical treasure, soar to the heavens, and become the strongest person on Blue Star?”

”I’ll wipe out all the Calamity Beasts, save all of humanity, and become a hero.”

”It’s not impossible...”

Lin Qi lowered his head in thought. Just as Jiangtao had said, that thing was brought back from the Otherworld by his parents.

But it was already inside his body, and there was no way to get it out.

’This might be Jiangtao’s fateful opportunity,’ he thought.

’I have a cheat, and now Jiangtao’s got one too.’

”But why are you telling me this?” Lin Qi asked.

Jiangtao said nonchalantly, ”In this world, besides Amiao, the person I trust the most is you, Brother Qi.”

”I know you would never harm me.”

Lin Qi was touched by his words and smiled. ”In that case,” he said,

”Keep this strictly confidential. Don’t let anyone else know.”

Jiangtao patted his chest. ”Don’t worry, Brother Qi, I get it. No one will know besides you, me, and Amiao.”

Lin Qi asked, ”By the way, have you felt anything in the last two days?”

Jiangtao scratched his head. ”Not really. Besides my sleep quality improving and waking up full of energy every day, I haven’t felt anything else.”

”But Brother Qi, my training state has been excellent every day.”

”You’d better watch out. I might surpass you soon.”

Lin Qi smiled. It seemed the effects weren’t obvious yet. Perhaps they would become apparent in the future.

”Let’s go. The sixth round of the Genius Tournament is about to start.”

The two of them left the Martial Arts Room together.

As they walked, Jiangtao looked at the black metal ring on Lin Qi’s arm and made a secret decision.

In a few days, he would also switch to a 50-jin Gravity Ring.

...

「In the virtual hall.」

Many people were watching the large screen. Besides the Red List, their attention was focused on another red-colored list.

”The sixth round of the Genius Tournament is about to start. The top 64 competing for the top 32. Half of them are about to be eliminated again.”

”Only three people are left from our Cang Province. I hope all of them can advance,” someone sighed.

As representatives of Cang Province, they had high hopes for the remaining three.

”That’ll be tough. Liy and Feng God have a good chance, but it’ll be difficult for Yang Jian!” someone else judged.

”Brother Qi!”

Sitting in the corner were Lv Xiang’s group of three, plus Guo Heng. They greeted Lin Qi enthusiastically when they saw him.

”You’re all here!” Lin Qi nodded and sat down in a central spot among them.

”Brother Qi, good luck! We in Cang Province are counting on you three,” said Qiu Siying, dressed in purple casual clothes, clenching her fists nervously.

”I will!”

”I’m going in!”

After quickly finishing a drink, Lin Qi entered his Virtual Cabin.

”Do you guys think Brother Qi can win?” Wu Feng asked.

”He’ll win,” Jiangtao said with great confidence.

He could sense the effort Lin Qi was putting in under the 50-jin Gravity Ring. He would win.

Guo Heng remained silent, worrying inwardly, ’If Lin Qi can comprehend the circulation of Power, he might be able to advance.’

’If he hasn’t, then it’ll be incredibly difficult.’

’According to my sister, all of the top 50 geniuses have broken through to the Tier Two Initial Stage, and all of them have mastered the Flow of Power.’
