”Little Northern!”

Setsuna recognized the fortress-type Abyssal the moment he laid eyes on her.

A famous mascot from Kantai Collection.

And one of the few rational deep sea Abyssals capable of basic communication.

Her prototype was Port Holland—essentially a naval base turned into a girl.

With space-time modifications, she had the potential to become a space fortress.

”Oh? So this is the Northern Princess the Commander keeps talking about capturing?”

”She does look kinda cute.”

A few accompanying Azur Lane shipgirls peered down. Northern-chan stood alone atop the sea, waving her little arms as she commanded the surrounding deep sea ships.

With the massive rigging behind her, the contrast was oddly adorable.

”What’s cute about that?!”

”Fortress-class Abyssals are terrifying, okay?!”

The native shipgirls from the Kantai Collection world completely disagreed. Encounters with Destroyer Princesses or Light Cruiser Princesses were already tough battles.

Stumbling into a Fortress Princess’s territory unprepared meant certain death.

Naval bases had firepower projection several dozen times stronger than standard warships.

Clack

The black rigging behind Northern Princess slowly unfolded, revealing a massive, complex structure within.

There were land-based main guns, airfields, and CIWS.

Black Abyssal Hell-bombers took off in rapid succession, buzzing as they flew toward the starship in the sky.

Over a dozen large-caliber main cannons locked on and began firing in sequence.

”Strange...”

”A really big... flying... ship?”

Northern-chan had no idea what the Eternal Snowfall was. She just saw it as an intruder in her territory and reflexively launched an attack.

Boom boom boom

The fortress-class’s overwhelming firepower barrage made the native shipgirls aboard nearly jump out of their skins.

However, the artillery only stirred faint ripples across the shield, barely moving the starship.

The Abyssal aircraft attacks were also fully intercepted. Many bombers, unable to see the shield, crashed into it and exploded into fiery balls.

[Klein Field Saturation: 1.35%]

Setsuna checked the Klein field readout.

”Hmm... If judged by pre-space era standards, Northern-chan’s weapons are indeed a bit stronger than the usual models.”

He considered it. Deep sea Abyssals relied heavily on raw strength.

With WWII-era equipment, they had routed modern human navies and driven them from the oceans.

Their power was slightly above pre-space native forces, but still far from high-tech standards.

Basically brute force overpowering the curve.

”Alright, let’s capture a Fortress Princess~”

”Start by clearing out the small fry around her.”

Click

The Eternal Snowfall’s point-defense systems activated.

It rained down firepower on the Abyssal fleet below and the densely packed airborne bombers.

Boom boom boom boom

Abyssal escort ships were torn apart by kinetic weapons.

For enemies of this level, even main guns were unnecessary.

In less than ten minutes,

The deep sea warships clustered around Northern Princess had been completely annihilated.

”Told you... stay away!!!”

Northern-chan looked fierce and cute, watching the Eternal Snowfall draw closer.

She threw everything she had at it—main guns, aircraft—but none of it worked against the Klein field.

Even after launching her last remaining Abyssal aircraft, she failed to touch the starship at all.

”Commander, Commander, you want to capture her, right? Let me go bring her back!”

”I promise I won’t fail!!!”

”Northern-chan is so cute!!”

Ark Royal’s eyes sparkled with hearts. She jumped straight out the window.

Plop She landed on the sea and dashed toward Northern-chan, sprinting across the waves.

As she ran, Ark Royal made some strange noises.

”Loli hiss-hah hiss-hah—”

”Fortress Princess is as cute as a destroyer hiss-hah hiss-hah—”

”???”

Watching Ark Royal act like a full-blown pervert, the Azur Lane shipgirls facepalmed.

”We really should’ve kept her locked in the brig...”

The Kancolle shipgirls were shocked.

What was this?!

A lolicon?!

Someone who likes deep sea Fortress-class lolis?! Wasn’t that a bit too ahead of the times?!

Well, perhaps it was expected of a starship fleet shipgirl...

Only Nagato from Kantai Collection nodded silently, casting a comrade’s gaze at Ark Royal.

Only a lolicon can understand a lolicon.

If she had more power and could beat a Fortress Princess, she would’ve gone too.

...

Meanwhile,

Northern Princess looked dumbfounded as a uniformed shipgirl with side bangs charged straight at her.

She wanted to fight back, but all her aircraft had been shot down by the Eternal Snowfall, and her rigging couldn’t even scratch Ark Royal’s defenses.

Ark Royal came right up to Northern-chan, rubbing her hands together, her voice trembling with excitement:

”Um? You’re Northern Princess, right? Can I call you Little Northern?”

”...”

Northern-chan nodded slightly.

”Would you like to come home with big sis? I can take you to the Commander. We’ve got lots of tasty food and fun stuff...”

”Our dockyard’s pretty big too. You’re welcome to play with the Royal Navy. When you’re tired, you can nap—no problem at all.”

She gently patted Northern-chan’s head. The Abyssal’s body was cold, like the sea itself.

Just like luring a destroyer, she tried to coax Northern-chan.

”...”

Northern Princess tilted her head, as if trying to interpret the meaning behind the words.

Seeing the silence, Ark Royal simply crouched down and spread her arms.

”Come on, come on, Onee-san will take you to see the Commander, hiss-hah...”

”Eh?...”

Northern-chan looked Ark Royal up and down.

That eager, perverted expression—she was practically drooling.

Not a trustworthy look.

Then she glanced at her wrecked carrier planes.

She plopped down on the sea’s surface and burst into tears.

”Waa—uuuuuuuuuuu—”

”???”

”Did you scare her?!”

The spectating shipgirls were stunned.

”I-I-I-I didn’t know!! Commander!! I just said I’d take her to you!!”

”All I did was pat her head!! I didn’t do anything else?!”

Ark Royal panicked, completely flustered.

For a lolicon, the worst crime was making a loli cry.

”D-Don’t cry!!!”

”Onee-san will give you food, okay? Stargazing pie? Or black pudding?”

Ark Royal frantically tried to console her while digging out a fish-head pie from her rigging and handing it over.

The little loli took a bite.

Gag—

Ptuh ptuh ptuh—

She made a face like she’d just eaten fermented herring, her features scrunched into a grimace.

Waaaahhhh—

Northern Princess tossed the stargazing pie onto the sea and cried even louder.

”??”

”Are you abusing a child?!”

Setsuna and the others stared in shock.

”I-I-I-I don’t know!! Commander, what do I do?!”

Ark Royal was a mess.

”If you don’t want food, how about a trip? Space? The moon? Beat up some aliens?!”

She circled Northern-chan, desperately trying to cheer her up.

”That’s not how you coax Northern-chan. Let me try.”

Just as Setsuna was about to step in—

Beep—

[Alert! 53 kilometers due north, at a depth of 3,100 meters—large number of hostiles approaching!]

The warning blared.

Wmmm—Wmmm—

Undercurrents surged below the surface.

Far across the sea, monstrous waves rose suddenly.

Thousands of Abyssals erupted from the depths.

Their numbers were more than triple that of Northern Princess’s fleet.

At the front was a curvaceous mature Fortress Princess, taller than Northern-chan, with horns and long white hair.

Her cold eyes and skintight white suit gave her a striking figure, not inferior to even carrier shipgirls.

Slightly behind her were two more similarly dressed, white-haired, red-eyed adult Fortress Princesses.

Surrounded by a vast escort of Abyssals, they rushed in their direction.

The previously clear sky darkened as rolling black clouds surged in with the Abyssal fleet, casting a heavy oppressive mood.

”Hisssss!!!”

The leading Fortress Princess seemed to radiate intense resentment.

”Onee-chan...?”

Northern-chan turned her head and waved toward the approaching Abyssals.

”Onee-chan?!”

”Harbor Princess, Airfield Princess, and Central Princess?!”

Setsuna’s mouth twitched.

”Ark Royal, Northern-chan just called in the big sisters to beat you up.”

The sudden appearance of three Fortress Princesses on the sea, along with the swarming Abyssal fleet they led, indeed gave Ark Royal and the native shipgirls quite a scare.

Everywhere they looked was a dark mass of Abyssal warships.

The sky was choked with black clouds and Abyssal bombers, completely blocking out the sunlight.

If they weren’t currently aboard the Eternal Snowfall, the native shipgirls would likely be too terrified to stand.

Even Nagato, the fleet’s flagship, had never faced three Fortress Princesses deploying at once.

Thankfully, this starship gave them some sense of security.

After a short time with it, everyone realized the Eternal Snowfall was capable of one-sided suppression against Abyssals.

No matter how many came, it only made a difference in how long it took to wipe them out.

”Ark Royal, return.”

Setsuna gave the order while watching Harbor Princess, Airfield Princess, and Central Princess charge in.

He wasn’t too worried about Ark Royal getting into trouble—he was more concerned about accidentally harming Northern-chan and her sisters.

”Commander, I’m sorryyyyyyy—!”

”Lock me in the brig, pleaaaaase—!”

”I promise I won’t harass destroyer girls again!!!”

Ark Royal, realizing she had seriously messed up, bolted back toward the Eternal Snowfall.

She had originally planned to carry Northern-chan under her arm as a mission complete bonus,

But the Fortress Princess was so heavy that even a starship shipgirl like her couldn’t lift her.

So she gave up and shot back to the bridge.

”Report to Bismarck when you return. As punishment for inappropriate conduct toward a loli and unauthorized deployment, you’re sentenced to 3 months of labor reform on the Moon with the Angeloids.”

Chen Hai assigned the penalty with practiced ease.

”There are no destroyer girls or Black Bullet lolis on the Moon. You’re to remain there until the lunar base construction is complete.”

”Ark Royal, any objections?”

”None, ma’am!”

Ark Royal answered obediently.

Nearby, Kancolle Nagato let out a sigh of relief.

She quietly tucked away a photo of a destroyer girl.

Turns out, the Commander’s fleet had even stricter punishment for lolicons than the homeport.

Yamato might just scold her occasionally, but among Azur Lane shipgirls, this was grounds for solitary confinement!

Luckily, she’d kept her preferences well-hidden.

...

On the other side,

Looking at the mass of Abyssal ships, Yamato suddenly exclaimed:

”Wait, is that Battleship Water Demon?! And Carrier Princess, and Seaplane Tender Princess?!”

She recognized several familiar figures within the fleet.

Ones that had supposedly been wiped out by the Eternal Snowfall or other task forces—yet here they were again.

Their weapons had also changed in some strange, subtle ways.

Battleship Water Demon had swapped her 20-inch twin guns for upgraded 16-inch triple turrets, with an additional mount.

Carrier Princess, Seaplane Tender Princess, and others were similarly altered.

”Haven’t you noticed that the more you fight Abyssals, the more of them there are—like an endless tide?”

Setsuna tapped the control console, pointing at the clusters of red dots.

He recalled the fear from long ago, ruled by the tyranny of S-rank bosses.

After finally clearing an absurdly difficult setup to farm Fletcher, some time later...

The Abyssals came back, upgraded, and stronger than ever!

”Do you know how badly I got crushed farming Fletcher back in the day?!”

Setsuna couldn’t help ranting.

”Huh?”

The shipgirls looked confused but intrigued.

”Never mind.”

He cleared his throat.

”Abyssals seem to possess a regeneration ability within their controlled waters. But it’s not important.”

”No matter how many times they revive, they still can’t turn into Death Stars.”

”What we need to do is find the Abyssal fleet’s core.”

As he spoke, Setsuna selected a region on the holographic map.

Sensor scans showed unusual energy signatures in the nearby area.

It could be the Abyssal fleet boss—or something else entirely.

”But before that, we need to capture those Fortress Princesses.”

”Same plan as always: disarm them first, clear out the small fry.”

Clack

Hundreds of secondary turrets on the Eternal Snowfall activated, locking onto the massive swarm of mass-produced Abyssals.

Bang bang bang bang

Kinetic shells and laser beams of various colors sliced through the sky, striking the ocean surface and blasting wave after wave of Abyssals into dust.

At the same time, thousands of Angeloids were launched from side hatches.

The strategic types formed formations in the sky, wiping out the Abyssal fleet and aircraft below with long-range fire.

Electronic warfare units activated heavy jamming systems, crippling enemy propulsion, sensors, targeting, and maneuvering systems.

Melee units dove downward, slicing enemies to pieces with monomolecular and laser swords.

Boom

Rumble

BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!

The once-massive Abyssal fleet was wiped out in swaths.

They couldn’t even mount a proper counterattack—the Angeloids simply mowed them down.

Just thirty minutes later, the sea was a wreck.

The Abyssal fleet led by the Fortress Princesses had been completely annihilated.

Only the three large Fortress Princesses and Northern-chan remained.

Whoosh

Angeloids surrounded them tightly.

Hissss

Harbor Princess, Airfield Princess, and Central Princess placed Northern-chan in the center, striking a fake-fierce battle stance in an attempt to scare off the battle angels.

One of them patted Northern-chan on the head, signaling her to stay calm.

”Even Abyssals protect their own?”

Yamato was surprised.

She’d always believed Abyssals to be mindless monsters who attacked shipgirls on sight.

An eternal war, ending only when one side was destroyed.

”Don’t the Sirens have Observer and Tester as besties? It’s not strange for advanced Abyssals to have rare types.”

Setsuna jumped down from the ship and approached the four Fortress Princesses, surrounded by Angeloids and shipgirls.

Harbor Princess glared at him cautiously, blocking Northern-chan.

”Don’t... hurt her...”

Her words were halting, but clear.

”You can understand me?”

Setsuna stepped closer and looked down at the little Abyssal family.

”Yes...”

Harbor Princess and Northern-chan raised their heads, confusion in their eyes.

”I don’t plan to harm you. Simply put, would you like to leave the Abyssals and join us?”

”I’ll give you a better place to live. There’s no need to keep fighting on the sea day after day.”

He made the invitation straightforward.

He figured Abyssals weren’t good at handling complex logic.

The simpler and more direct the words, the better.

Hissss

The three large Fortress Princesses exchanged glances, seemingly trying to interpret his meaning.

”$%@*!...”

Harbor Princess and Airfield Princess muttered to each other in an unintelligible language.

”They said Master is very strong, stronger than Abyssal Yamato, Abyssal Missouri, and Abyssal Enterprise... no chance of beating you.”

”Also, they sensed a familiar aura from you and are considering your proposal.”

Nymph translated in real time.

The universal electronic warfare angel could decode almost any language.

”Familiar aura?”

Setsuna was puzzled.

He’d never been to the Kantai Collection world or encountered Abyssals before.

”Uh, are the Sirens your distant cousins or something? That... sort of makes sense...”

After a while, the three large Fortress Princesses looked at Northern-chan sitting on the ground, silently asking her opinion.

Northern-chan glanced around to confirm Ark Royal wasn’t nearby.

She stretched her hand toward Setsuna.

”Hungry.”

”Give me Zero and Reppuu... no fish-head pie.”

”Hah.”

Setsuna chuckled. He was ready. From storage, he pulled out a few space-based carrier planes and handed them to the little loli.

”What’s so great about those antiques? Here, try some high-end models.”

Northern-chan examined the black-and-red plane in her hand.

She gave it a cautious sniff, eyes lighting up.

In two or three bites, it was gone.

At the same time, a tiny space-based carrier aircraft appeared on her rigging.

”Oh? She replenishes her arsenal by eating?”

The shipgirls found it fascinating. No wonder she collapsed after her planes were shot down—she had literally gotten hungry.

”Yummy! More!”

Northern-chan stretched her hand again.

”Here, here, take as much as you want.”

Setsuna dumped a huge pile of aircraft onto the sea.

If Azur Lane lacked anything, it wasn’t weapons and gear.

Northern-chan’s obsession with Zeroes and Reppuus was essentially a Fortress Princess’s collector instinct for new equipment.

Chomp chomp... munch...

Five minutes later—

Hic~

Northern-chan let out a burp and reached her arms out to Setsuna.

”Hug!”

”Heh—”

Seeing no resistance, Setsuna easily picked her up.

”Di... Di-rector... Commander!”

Northern-chan clumsily mimicked the shipgirls and called him by title.

Harbor Princess, Central Princess, and Airfield Princess watched the satisfied Northern-chan, then glanced at Setsuna and the aircraft in his hand.

Curiosity sparkled in their eyes.

”That... what is it?...”

Harbor Princess pointed at the space aircraft and the Eternal Snowfall, asking with difficulty.

”Come on, get aboard. Meals are all-inclusive.”

Setsuna waved them over.

”???”

”Why are you so good at this?!”

Nagato, who had been itching with curiosity earlier, now stared like she’d seen a ghost. From the way Setsuna handled things, it was like he’d raised a whole nursery of kids before.

”Of course! I have extensive experience in loli abdu—ahem, care and nurturing.”

”You know, I’m the big brother to three million lolis.”
