”Oooohhhhhh—”

The Eternal Snowfall burst through the clouds and soared upward, soon breaking through the atmosphere and entering outer space.

Looking down from above, the planetary structure here looked quite different from the solar system.

Both the orbits and the number of planets varied greatly.

The Emperor of Demise sat in Setsuna’s control room, eyes wide as he tried to appear calm, though his face betrayed his astonishment.

Since they were already here, it made sense to take his future father-in-law on a tour through space.

As a dragon who had lived for countless millennia, this was the first time he had ever ridden a human spacecraft into space.

”When we conquer other civilizations, if they lack counter-starship capabilities, we strike them with long-range fire from orbit.”

Setsuna explained his weapon systems and battle philosophy to the Emperor of Demise.

In magical worlds, many powerful individuals were invincible on land but had no way to fight in space.

In such situations, a space fleet could wipe them out without resistance.

”That island down there—can you destroy it?”

The Emperor of Demise asked in his raspy voice, pointing toward a direction.

He wanted to test Setsuna’s abilities.

It was an oddly shaped archipelago, roughly the size of the British Isles combined.

Strange creatures lived on it.

”That’s Poseidon’s territory. Tch, it’s crawling with his minions.”

Tohru clicked her tongue.

”Poseidon is strong, but he can’t fly. Fighting him in the sea is a pain.”

”This one’s easy.”

Setsuna replied casually.

Click—

The Eternal Snowfall’s main cannon locked onto the target.

Zzz... BOOM!!!

A beam from the super-graviton shot across hundreds of thousands of kilometers of space, striking the center of the island.

The high-energy beam instantly annihilated every creature it touched, exploding in a massive shockwave.

The sea monsters had no time to react and were vaporized under the heavy particle strike.

Next, the starship’s side wings launched over a hundred dark red corrosive missiles, which formed clusters of red explosions across the sea.

After a full barrage, the archipelago broke apart and sank beneath the waves, leaving behind only scattered debris.

”...”

The Emperor of Demise’s eyes widened further.

He had never seen this kind of attack before, but there was no denying its effectiveness.

He truly felt enlightened.

”Uh, if you find this fun, I can give you a spaceship.”

Setsuna thought for a moment and led the Emperor of Demise to the hangar.

Inside was a star escort ship about 600 meters long, modeled after mass-produced Siren ships from the naval base.

It had been specially modified for solo operation.

”It carries two small super-graviton cannons and sixty missile launchers. It can maneuver at one-thousandth light speed in space.”

”Don’t let the size fool you. Its reactor output is enough to leave the entire solar system.”

Setsuna decided to gift a small spaceship to the Emperor of Demise after all—as a symbol of the Starsea Empire’s technological prowess.

”Oh!”

The Emperor of Demise was full of curiosity.

He jumped in, fiddled with the controls, and tapped at the holographic interface.

Dragons had high intelligence, and with the ship fully automated, he quickly got the hang of it.

Whoosh—He piloted the ship out from the Eternal Snowfall’s hangar bay.

Trailing plasma exhaust, he soared into the stars.

He didn’t really need the super-graviton or corrosive missiles—the escort ship’s firepower was nothing compared to his destruction magic.

But the precision of the technology and the freedom of spaceflight intrigued him deeply.

Without using teleportation magic, a dragon’s flight speed couldn’t compare to a starship.

No dragon had ever flown beyond its star system.

Now, he found himself wanting to visit other star systems.

”Interesting, very interesting...”

After flying the ship around the star system for quite some time, the Emperor of Demise finally returned at Tohru’s call.

He stepped out of the cockpit with reluctance, nodding to Setsuna.

”A fine gift, human. I accept it. Thank you.”

”Once we develop faster-than-light technology, I’ll send you a better one. You can play with this for now.”

Setsuna replied generously.

”Mm...”

The Emperor of Demise actually looked forward to what surprises Setsuna might bring next.

After their conversation, his view of Setsuna changed completely.

In terms of philosophy, Setsuna and the forces of chaos shared a lot in common. He showed no mercy when facing enemies, reducing them to dust without hesitation.

In terms of power, while Setsuna hadn’t reached divine status yet, youth was his greatest advantage. He had plenty of time to grow through training and exploring other worlds.

As for knowledge and experience, the Emperor of Demise felt utterly outclassed.

Despite being a leader of the Chaos faction, he had spent his life in just one world—he couldn’t compare to someone who had traveled across the vast multiverse.

Unfathomable.

The more he looked at Setsuna, the more pleasing he found him.

A decisive man with strength, aligned with chaos in spirit, wise beyond his years, and with boundless potential.

And his daughter liked him.

What was this?! A perfect son-in-law!!!

There wasn’t a single flaw—whether in character, ideals, or strength.

The Emperor of Demise patted Setsuna on the shoulder.

”Tohru is in your hands now.”

”Aww, stop it~~ I already belong to the Commander~”

Tohru blushed and wagged her tail bashfully.

”Have a child soon. In the future, I’ll let you inherit my position. Maybe you’ll even rule this world.”

The Emperor of Demise said solemnly.

He had full confidence in this young man. Putting his power in Setsuna’s hands might allow him to expand their territory into other worlds.

As for Setsuna not being a dragon? That didn’t matter at all.

Power was everything. Dragons would follow the strong.

”???!”

”Ah?! Uh, okay.”

Setsuna hadn’t expected the Emperor of Demise to urge him to have kids.

Or to suggest he might one day command the Chaos army.

Though... inheriting the throne?

Given the long lifespans of dragons, it might not be a case of just waiting seventy years.

Waiting tens of thousands of years wasn’t out of the question.

...

With the Emperor of Demise’s approval, the rest was easy.

Setsuna spent a few days at Tohru’s home.

He followed her around to meet her allies and build some rapport.

He also gathered various local artifacts and materials to bring back to the research institute.

”Whew—”

By the time they were returning, his cargo hold was stuffed with all sorts of strange things.

Some were local specialties—like the mysterious creatures Tohru often used in cooking.

Some were magic books and scrolls. When the Emperor of Demise heard that Setsuna was collecting tech from different worlds, he dug out a pile of ancient tomes to give him.

They contained all sorts of bizarre content—mostly curses, destruction magic, demon summoning spells—perfectly fitting for a Chaos faction.

And then there were the countless gold and jewels.

Dragons loved hoarding treasure. Even though Setsuna didn’t really need them, he still got a mountain of riches.

”Ehehehe~~”

Tohru blushed and giggled, following along with a silly smile.

She had basically eloped with Setsuna before, but now, even her father had given full approval. Her mood was soaring.

”The Emperor of Demise said if we meet a powerful enemy, we can call for help...”

The dragon girl said cheerfully. She had the kind of confidence that came from knowing she could rely on her family.

”Uh, I appreciate it, but I don’t go to worlds I can’t beat.”

They chatted idly as the four of them returned to the main world of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid.

Just as they were about to use the anchor point to head home—

Bzzzz—

Suddenly, high above, space distorted.

From the portal Tohru had opened earlier, a blue comet burst forth.

The comet carried a powerful aura, barreling straight toward the group.

BOOM—!

”!!”

Tohru’s cheerful and silly demeanor instantly turned sharp.

Setsuna reflexively activated a shield.

BOOM!

The meteor crashed down, kicking up a storm of smoke and dust.

”Cough, cough—”

Kanna coughed as the smoke filled the air.

From the impact crater rose a dragon girl with purple hair and blue eyes, wearing an off-shoulder, lavender-pink short robe.

She had short hair, a horn on her forehead, a large fish-like tail behind her, and wielded a trident.

Her figure was that of a mature dragon, comparable to Tohru, and her tight bodysuit accentuated her curves suggestively.

”Tohru! So you were here!!!”

The purple-haired dragon girl spoke coldly.

”Have you forgotten the rules?! Dragons disrupt the balance of other worlds! Come back with me!!”

”?!”

”It really is you!! Elma?!”

”No! The Emperor of Demise has already approved my marriage with the Commander!”

Tohru clung tightly to Setsuna’s arm.

”Marriage between a dragon and a human?!”

Elma’s pupils contracted in shock.

”No! That’s forbidden! You must come back with me!!”

She jumped in frustration, argued with Tohru, then turned to Setsuna.

”Sir, please understand—inter-species unions between dragons and humans are not allowed. They disrupt the order of the world...”

”For your safety and the world’s stability, I must take Tohru away. Don’t worry, I’ll cast a spell to make you forget her...”

”...”

Setsuna studied the dragon girl before him.

Elma—a member of the Order faction. When he came looking for dragons before, he hadn’t encountered her.

Mostly because she and Tohru didn’t get along.

Now that they crossed paths... naturally, he had to abduct—no, bring her back.

”How about coming to another world with me? We have dragon girls, shipgirls, Spirits, Heroic Spirits—everyone coexists peacefully.”

He tried the peaceful route.

”???”

Elma was dumbfounded.

”Other species?! No! Tohru must go! She’s a threat to any world she enters.”

Gripping her trident, Elma took a combat stance and stared down Tohru.

”You and I are evenly matched. This time, we’ll settle things once and for all...”

Then she glanced at Setsuna and Mio.

”Sir, Miss, please step back. I don’t want the battle to hurt you...”

”...”

”You’re oddly considerate.”

Setsuna nodded.

As expected of a Order-faction dragon, even when fighting, she cared about bystanders.

Too bad she wasn’t that bright.

He raised a hand.

Whoosh—

A barrier enveloped the area.

”Tohru, Mio, go!”

”Tie her up and bring her back for me!”
