Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 284: Volume 4, Chapter 45: Perish Together?_4

The Mythical Army, as a special Earth Division Level formation, underwent supplementation and expansion after the Newton Star System conflicts. It now consists of six fully-staffed armored groups, along with a Guard Battalion, a Logistics Camp, an Electronic Technology Camp, an Assault Battalion, a Special Forces Group, and a Reconnaissance Camp, totaling over twelve thousand personnel. During the years Reinhardt served as the Legion Commander, apart from Bonnie’s First Group and the rookie-filled Sixth Group, he controlled most of the remaining forces. Particularly, the platoon leaders of these groups’ Guard Companies were Reinhardt’s die-hard loyalists.

Thus, every soldier in the Guard Companies of the Second and Fourth Group led by Osullivan understood his mission and would execute it without hesitation at the command!

Zola could only watch as the two companies’ [Vajra] Mechas charged towards the transport ship, cursing the unseen captor in his mind: ”Idiot, fool! Can’t even pilot a transport ship, pigs are smarter than you! A bunch of bumpkins! Only fit for prison, morons, dimwits!”

The transport ship continued to hover two meters above the ground, struggling. Its hull repeatedly collided with the alloy pillars of the fighting arena, producing a thunderous noise. The sound of the arena’s framework scraping against the ship’s metal surface was so piercing it could make a deaf person’s gums ache.

The ship’s paint had been scuffed in a large area, and a heavy Mecha-sized dent like an ugly scar appeared on the ship’s bow. The roaring anti-gravity device had begun to emit an overworked groan; the increasingly sharp screech made the transport ship resemble a bomb ready to explode at any moment.

”Boom!” As Osullivan rounded the cell block to make a full sprint towards the transport ship, a tremendous noise accompanied by a cloud of dust erupted into the air.

The fighting arena had collapsed!

Tens of thousands of tons of alloy components disintegrated and scattered in an instant. The six-story building, several dozen meters tall, dramatically crumbled to the ground, disintegrating into fragments at the moment of impact, like a piece of ash shaken off a cigarette. The metal framework, light composite elements, and interior decorations such as plaster, carpets, and chandeliers instantaneously turned into a heap of circular debris. The immense dust cloud, stirred by the collapse, spread violently in all directions.

Osullivan and his soldiers instinctively halted their advance. This brief moment of hesitation saved the lives of some of them.

The transport ship, which had been teetering on the edge of the arena, was struck head-on by an entire section of the falling roof. The ship’s bow was completely crushed, and it toppled over, its hull sliced in two by the subsequent mass of falling metal. The previously howling anti-gravity device fell silent, and just two seconds later, as the metal plates of the transport ship cracked open, intense light burst forth, sweeping across the entire prison. An explosive detonation spawned a mini sun, transforming into a dark mushroom cloud in the sky. The shockwave engulfed the hundred [Vajra] Mechas charging ahead, melting everything in an instant from the searing heat.

The world shook, and darkness eclipsed the sun and moon. Everything faded into insignificance amid the terrible explosion; the surrounding sounds, colors, and air all lost their original forms. The entire world seemed rewritten by God—black and white, and silent.

The battle came to a halt; no one’s nerves could withstand continuing combat amidst such an explosion. Everyone stood with mouths agape, staring dumbfounded in the direction of the fighting arena. The once grand and luxurious circular building was now a pile of rubble, and the high temperature of the transport ship explosion ignited flammable materials amid the debris, and a raging fire burned vigorously in the dawn.

Zola stared in disbelief, unable to accept the reality before him.

Blown to the ground by the shockwave, Osullivan also stared blankly. When he finally came to his senses, he excitedly pumped his fist in the air. It was all over; no one could survive such an explosion!

James had been completely erased from this world, not a single bone would remain!

As long as Stephen was defeated, the entire Gazalin would welcome a new emperor—Reinhardt! And he, himself, as the greatest contributor, would ascend to the pinnacle of power.

”Damn it!” Fatty, hidden in the forest east of the prison, regretfully slammed his wrist. He was clearly dissatisfied with the outcome, at least half of those [Vajra] Mechas from the two companies were only impacted by the explosion.

The most shocked was Bonnie, who had been involved in this magical action from start to finish.

That cunning Fatty had first led everyone onto the transport ship under the watchful eyes of others. Then, they were all gathered at the cargo hold door. As the ship wobbled into the sky, through the portholes, everyone saw the dense formations of the Mythical Army’s [Vajra] and a few [Demon Tiger] Mechas traversing the forest like migrating fierce beasts.

Discovering the transport ship, the Mythical Army noticeably sped up, while the ship seemed to lose control, veering towards the fighting arena.

Next, the Mythical Army launched an attack on the Miracle Army. Freedom Front soldiers and prisoners traversed the broken second-floor of the fighting arena, slipping into the forest under the cover of the mechanical workshop. All these happened simultaneously.

And then, Bonnie only saw that damnable Fatty activate a pre-tuned frequency disruptor. Without any explosions, the entire fighting arena collapsed completely. She had not yet recovered from the shock of the arena’s collapse when the remote-controlled bombs of the Fatty detonated, turning the entire transport ship into a gigantic bomb, completely obliterating all traces within the mushroom cloud.

Watching the frustrated Fatty, Bonnie felt it was the first time in her life that she had seen such a vile destroyer! That damned Fatty was simply a maniac of destruction, reducing everything to ashes with a snap of his fingers. From his demeanor, it seemed like this wasn’t the first time he had done such a thing!

But looking around at the Mechas in stealth mode, Bonnie had to admit that at least for now, these people had successfully vanished from this world. Unless the Mythical Army immediately pursued them in the right direction, no one could find them in the vast forest thanks to their Mechas’ stealth capabilities!

Especially looking at the advanced electronic equipment on [Logic], and at the dumbfounded Mythical Army through the long-range viewer, Bonnie was beyond words to describe her feelings—was she supposed to feel fortunate or annoyed?

”What do you think? I told you I would escape!” Fatty looked at Bonnie triumphantly. ”Honestly, I didn’t intend to, but I won again!”

”Put me down, you filthy, despicable Fatty!” Bonnie, tied to the cockpit wall of [Logic], struggled and furiously shouted.

Fatty covered his private parts, frowned, and inhaled sharply through his teeth, praising, ”Damn! That curse made my balls hurt!”

Bonnie finally broke down. She cried like a little girl who had suffered grievances, no longer displaying the maturity, wisdom, and grace of a female Colonel. She finally understood that when dealing with such a rogue, the only outcome was to feel aggrieved.

Dead Fatty, he’s really too much of a bully!

And next to her, James had his eyes closed, seemingly asleep.
